  • The Eastern rail currently is trash. No stations. It's narrow gauge? No modern coaches

  • There is a revenue sharing formula between Nigeria and China. So China is still in charge of maintaining the trains. Wait until China hands it over to Nigeria. The service would deteriorate rapidly. Same thing happened with Nigerian Railway in those days. It worked great in British hands. Then Britain handed it to Nigeria, and that was the end of it.

  • Hello David, thanks for the review video. Maybe it's me but I've just come across your video sheet a long while. The last set of videos I watched include that Abuja stalled millennium tower project. Please can you help give an update on that side we now have a new FCT minister. Then along with my wife, loved your other videos on that cramped train ride in the East. Then the video on going to one remote part of Nigeria, I think it was still South East. Thanks and keep it up

  • The price you guys are charging for the trains is too low o. Not tomorrow you will claim that the rail system has collapsed. Charge fares that reflect the true cost of doing the business including adequate maintenance and replacement of worn out assets.

    • Public benefit services like transit doesn't need to always make a profit, it's good if it does but not the end of the world if it doesn't. As a public benefit, they help economic growth in other sectors like business and job creation by moving people. The economic growth generated from other sectors can easily subsidize the loss of revenue in transit, it's how most economies work. If you charge too much and ridership goes down because people can't afford it and they end up losing their jobs, that's a bigger impact than the revenue deficit and then that would be when it really collapses. Just look at China for instance, they generate $1.8 in economic growth for every $1 they lose on their railways.

      @pastasoo@pastasoo3 ай бұрын
    • @@pastasoo Oga sir, I never mentioned profit in my comment please read well. I just said charge fares that are sustainable. What you’re mentioning is something that should be addressed at the discovery and feasibility stage of the project. If you lack the demand, spending power and ability to “sustainably” subsidize the train service. You have no business going into providing the service. The reason I raised an alarm is because I know Nigeria lacks the ability to sustainably subsidize the service, hence the only viable option is to charge a cost reflective fare of which I can see they are not doing. Hence this is a red flag that the rail service is going to fail in the coming years.

      @ebuka56@ebuka563 ай бұрын
    • @@ebuka56 I agree with you that fares should reflect on sustainability of this infrastructure. But I think the fares have now been reviewed to reflect the current realities.

      @muhammadmasterminders@muhammadmasterminders2 ай бұрын
    • *The price you guys are charging for the trains is too low* Very correct. Another issue with Nigeria in general is the the people in charge are kleptomaniacs. Even if fares are commensurate with cost of maintenance, the revenues would be stolen.

  • Yeye Nigerian government, busy buying suvs and presidential convoy they still can't fund lbadan to Abuja section of this train,the coastal train is a pipe dream,ltakpe to Abuja is all talk,portharcourt to maiduguri, l'll probably grow grey hair everywhere waiting on that one.😅 kenya is constructing much more than these,how are they doing it but Nigeria can't? 😢Nigeria is bigger in convey and car importation instead of building national infrastructures.
