  • Im glad its artetas decision to make on whether he keeps Partey or not and not our somewhat divisive fanbase . Whole season ppl been asking 4 Partey to be sold, but as soon as he shows why he was bought in the first place, they contradict themselves some more as they clearly have with havertz and Jorginihio for most of the season. The amnesia is real. In England players cannot afford to get injured especially the more talented ones otherwise you might piss off your "appreciative" fanbase and labelled all sorts of things and then theyre baffled once players come out and tell them the obvious of how they've harbouring injuries all season and not disclose due to the obvious backlash which is just mental if ppl actually take the time to think about it!

  • Jorginho could become a player coach (license?) esp if Albert is pryed away. But defo should keep Partey for next season, extend 1 year to keep a bit of leverage in sale. To win things, not just competing, we need real depth that is proven and could make a difference. Don't care if a player only starts 10, 12 games a season or max out at 75 mins a game as long as we likely win more... we stop short in some critical moments. Imagine Partey started the Villa game or cane on for Odegarrd, thought we'd have a draw at least.

  • Spot on, Charles. Watching Jorginho from the off. He is like a manager on the field of play. You see him talking players through the game. Such an intelligent player and ideal for our team. Partey is a great player, though he isn’t a vocal leader on the pitch in the way that Jorginho is. I wish ESR wasn’t one of the forgotten. Such an unused talent. Andy

  • Still think we need Partey. We need a new midfielder anyway but we won't know how quickly or effectively the new addition will bed down. Jorginho is great as cover. But I think the team is at a different level with Partey and only wish he had been back and fully fit for Bayern game which would have dramatically enhanced our attacking capability.

At the time, i thought its a silly statement but the more i think about it, the more i agree. The only way i don't see us winning it next season is if City go and sign their KDB replacement and sign someone like Wirtz or Musiala

  • Hi Charles. I’m glad Jorginho will be staying but I don’t see that has implications for Partey. I hope Partey stays as well and I don’t see how that is any kind of barrier to going for the likes of Zubamendi. As you say, the forgotten man in all this is Elneny, who will leave at the end of the season. If Jorginho takes Elneny’s place in the squad, that to my mind is an upgrade. I get the issues around Partey’s fitness but he’s such a good player, and I believe his presence in the team frees Declan Rice to get forward more and makes Arsenal more threatening.

  • Charles, Good show as always. You say 'interesting' the same effort for Jorginho not being applied to Partey regarding contract talks. Isn't this simply because there is still another year on Partey's contract, wheras a decision had to be made over Jorginho? I don't see this as any lack of affection for Partey, just makes sense to wait in the circumstaces. Mike

With Zincenko causing more bad than good at times and the possibility of another set back with Timber, some more cover could definitely be needed. KT is more than decent cover but hasn't had the best season for appearance's so I wouldn't reply on him if we end up in a position like this again next year. Or would it be best to go and sign a centre back so Kiwior and Tomi can stay as full back cover, rather than CB cover? If so, who would you try and bring in and why? Thanks, Charles!

  • We beat Bournemouth 4-0 in the reverse fixture, although they have got a little better recently they are still not a team we should worry about, especially as we are at home. Since 31/12/2023 they have 2W 4L 2D, the 2 wins being Burnley and Wolves. I know we need to win every match but I still think a little rotation is on the cards. I'd actually start Martinelli and see if he does better by starting and being on longer. Trossard has been great as a super sub so we know he doesn't need to start in order to produce a winning performance, so if Martinelli is going nowhere then it's an easy option to bring Trossard on, maybe not so easy the other way round if Martinelli isn't doing it off the bench. The start might kick-start Martinelli's form. Worth a risk for 60 minutes I think.

  • Charles, Thomas’ situation is basically down to who wants him, how much they are willing to pay, and what is available in the market. If he can agree to an availability contract I think he will still be a very important member of the squad even with the inclusion of another midfielder. Let’s not forget El-Neny might be leaving; potentially ESR as well. Where we can keep very hard to replace quality as is with Partey, even for one more transitional year, we should.

  • I would keep Partey and the reason is: I think it just is too expensive to let him go. Ramsdale Nketiah, Nelson , ESR (unfortunately!), Elneny, Cedric are all likely or certain to go. So we must replace them and we want to purchase a Winger/number 9, an 8 regardless... so letting Partey leave for 15-20Million at best?! leaves you with replacing him... what would a 6 cost who is closely to his level 60 upwards? Even if he just stays fit for 15-20 games you have enormous quality and you can replace him still next summer

  • Hi Charles, love the content, been a daily viewer for a couple of years now. A thought that I think could raise an interesting debate. Recently, the question has been asked as to weather we still need to sign a striker following Kai Havertz’s upturn in form upfront. Although I do think we still need to sign a striker, I think it should put us in a position where we can be patient to make sure we sign the right player. There is a lot of talk around who would be the best option for arsenal to sign but that is because there is no glaringly obvious signing that brings us the 20/30 goals a season striker that people think we are missing. I would suggest that (like city did waiting for Haaland and playing false 9s for a couple of seasons) we bide our time to splash significant funds a clear and obvious upgrade on Kai and Jesus, even if this means we sign Isak when it is more likely we can do a deal with Newcastle. What are your thoughts?

  • Hi Charles, Hope you're doing well. I think with Partey, theres still so much more to offer, and i would keep Jorginho too as a player/coach kind of role for the future as he works well with the squad especially the Brazilians. With Mo going out the door, i would keep both J20 and TP5 with rice understudying TP5 to transition into that single pivot in a more organic way, just how TP5 did, taking his time. That said, and with Kai potentially moving upfront, i'd rather focus on getting another dynamic number 8, a workhorse on the LCM to offer support for Rice, and a Wide player along with maybe a string Target man for plan B. My nominations are Gallagher, Boniface and Olise. Think Conor and Michale would fit in perfectly with their profiles and talents. Chelsea need money for FFP, and Bayer could return the favour on the Xhaka deal. Olise wouldnt want to be fighting relegation every season. What do you think? -Pyi from Burma

  • Good news on the contract for Jorginho, But it has also got me thinking….If we keep Jorginho and Partey this summer (can’t see a deal for Partey materialising), I can’t see us signing a 6. Signing an 8 would make some sense, but then there are some knock on impacts to consider. What do you think to the following Charles? 1. If we sign an 8 are we committing to Rice as the long term 6? 2. Are we going to be able to offer a good new signing the minutes they’ll want in the first season? If so, who’s missing out? 3. If you’re moving Havertz to CF as main position, what does that mean for Jesus & the FW search? Still signing both a CF and.RW? Will be interesting to see how the pieces fit together.

  • TP is great but we've got so much talent coming through who will need game-time and they are just a little too young for first-team. I'm not sure if we'll see a CP situation with our players coming through being sent on loan and their value fading. Ethan Nwaneri will no doubt be a super-sub next year. So we need someone to cover for a few years during Ehtan's transition to a full-time Arsenal legend. Partey was excellent against Spurs and I think we have two season of him before he loses pace and ability. Our youth system is getting better-and-better. Already meeting Arsene Wenger's wildest dreams with these sensational stats! Thank you Anelka for the acedemy funding.

  • Obi-Martin will be part of the long term project. There's a long way for him to go at his age, so think 3-4 years from now he could be a 1st team starter if he's still hitting these high goal tallies. I do feel he deserves some 1st team minutes as a reward and incentive though, not that he looks like he needs any incentive, but it all helps young players knuckle down.

  • EXTRA TIME Charles, maybe you and James could spend some time on the makeup of an "ideal team" under current financial regulations and player expectations. Starter caliber vs. training/ bench quality. Backups for positions and flexibility. Player rotations, etc. Could always be after the season and into the summer recruiting window. This is not "fantasy football " that Edu and Arteta are playing. 😊

  • Hi Charles-- the recent Athletic pieces about Declan Rice's ability to read the game confirm that Declan's a freakin' genius! But... I've also been puzzled why certain players (no names, please) haven't received more playing time this year. We've talked a lot about Arteta's increasing "trust" in a limited number of players dictating the selection process. How big of a role does a player's "tactical intelligence" factor into whether the boss "trusts" them?

Only reservation I have with that is, that inevitability in his game seems to have gone ever since he came back from that knee surgery he had, he's just not being the same player again. For Nketiah, I think he's gone already, i struggle to see how he stays at Arsenal beyond this summer. This was a season Jesus was unfit for most periods and Nketiah unsurprisingly didn't step up as required. You can imagine if we hadn't signed Havertz, even with Nketiah fit, Trousers would've played there mosy of the time eventhough he isn't a natural striker. That's how I know it's curtains for Nketiah at Arsenal now.

    • @@joeabrahams6680 Partey looks slow and sluggish even after a couple games back from injury. It has only been the last 2 games where he's looked close to the Partey of last season. Jesus just needs a run of games to get his form and confidence back. Players need to trust their bodies again. It's a psychological hurdle. Some people don't understand this unless they've played competitive sport at a high level. I used to play State basketball. After a serious MCL injury, even after recovering, I was scared to put full pressure on certain movements. I wasn't right mentally for weeks. Match sharpness isn't only physical, in fact, mentality has a lot to do with it. I understand Jesus has been unreliable in terms of days out, but he's still a valuble player in our squad. We need players with such trickery to unlock defences. We actually lack such players. If a player of Jesus is limited to just European or cup games, it then shows we have great depth. I think we're still behind City in squad depth. We need another 4-5 players in various roles to really compete with Europe's best

  • Assessing our current midfield lineup, selling Mohamed Elneny and other peripheral players would provide funds for investment in key areas. As a club, I believe we need to invest a one quality midfielder that have the ability to play both the 8 and the 6 role giving us the flexibility to interchange between Rice and him. Keep Partey's for another year and have an option to extend his contract by a year or two thereby safeguarding his value. Jorginho and Party play in the league cup games and serve as a backups in the PL matching ensuring no dip in quality. Imagine the prospect of have Party and Jorginho as backups in the Premier League is somthing that will scare lot of teams. If Arsenal is to maintain it status as a top tier club in the world, I believe we as fan need to stop thinking about players earning. Look at Man City bench and see how much each of those guy earn but they are on the bench wait to be call upon.

  • Regarding Jesus - before his knee injury at the World Cup he was amazing, however he’s been riddled with Knee injuries and other types, so in the words of JB “previous injuries are an indication of …” you know the rest🤣. On £260k/week he has to be more than a bench option, I think if a reasonable bid comes in for him you take it and re invest into the marquee attacking signing this summer. Havertz clearly starts ahead of him now and imo he doesn’t have the pace to play out wide. Love the show Charles Kel

  • Hello Charles, my opinion is that even if Partey should stay no need to buy any midfielder this season, we should just concentrate on understudy to Saka for me. Pedro Neto would be perfect for that role, about his injury record we can use that injury record to reduce the price of Pedro Neto and a striker i think that should be it.

    • We have enough wingers What we need is a big 9 who can be a target man upfront then a CB for rotation and a CDM (partey and jorginho are getting old we need a young CDM, rice is better as an 8)

    • We don't have a good understudy to Saka, i feel we need that my friend on the right, the left there's Martineli and Trossard but right we only have Saka, I feel we need to address that in the summer and a great striker like Isak.

  • This year clubs will spend more money because of this spending cap rule, so expect one more high spending summer. I would keep Partey, sell deadwood and spend 250m on 5 players. ST, winger, left 8, versatile RB and backup GK. For me Šeško, Olise or Mbeumo (wish Rodrygo), Wirtz, Frimpong and Meret.

  • Jorginho's contract reminded me of Oxade- Chamberlain's where the clause was with Southampton, if he played more than 20 minutes in a game, they had to pay them £12000 each time? Thats why he was a substitute so often.

    @richardfernley5377@richardfernley537716 күн бұрын
  • Why do you need to plan a season around Partey. We know he gets injured but we need a deep squad so sign a new midfielder and keep Partey and Jorginho. Next season we must try to win all the cup competitions so need a squad like City.

  • Thomas Partey had his worst injury season probably as a professional this season 2023/24, BUT had his best nearly injury free season at Arsenal last season 2022/23, where he was available for and played in 33 out of 38 Premier League games! Yes! In 2022/23… Partey played in 33 out of 38 EPL games!! He also played in 6 Europa League games and 1 x FA Cup game! So in 2022/23 Partey played in 40 games!! 👀 Hopefully he stays and has a 2024/25 that’s as good as 2022/23 season for Partey

  • Zinchenko might be selected ahead of Tomoyasu seeing Bournemouth might play using a low block. Also, the midfield situation is a no brainer. Elneny is leaving already which creates space for another midfielder. Keeping Jorginho and Partey wouod only give Arteta room to rotate more and manage the squad better.

  • Oh, forget the XG stuff. You just have to look with your eyes at the difference he makes when he's on the field. Odegaard has more space to move around and be creative. We need a dominant mid to win moving forward. Jorginho is not that guy. Squad yes but do you have confidence in a Jorginho Rice midfield winning the prem? Rice, Partey and CM (Fofana) would do the trick. Jorginho to provide cover and minutes if Arteta is able to change his mindset on subs.

Do you think we still need a winger even if Jesus can play both wing and we keep him fit for the whole next season ? I will still take Pedro Neto regardless his injuries record.
