I reckon some people will still be crazy enough to try cut a bit of weight right before, and get hospitalised in the fight lmfao
Bruh, you feel like shit when you're cutting weight. Even a day isn't really enough time to recover. Weight cutting shouldn't be a thing

The only problem with this ( i have no idea about anything fighting/cutting weight struggles im just thinking business wise so correct me if im wrong), if they were to do weigh in's 1 hour before the fight and the fighters miss weight, then theres a possibility that theyll lose millions of dollars. Example, Paulo Costa vs Khamzat.. big fight. Millions on pay per view. If one of them were to miss weight, then the event is cancelled. Fighters lose money, fans lose money and ufc loses money. If they aren't weighing in before they make the walk to the cage, there'll always be weight cuts
they should have officials weigh the fighters like every fortnight like 6 months leading up to fights cant imagine fighters cutting weight every fortnight and expecting to perform well. I get the sentiment, but honestly if you can make the weight, you can make the weight. It's a part of wrestling, BJJ, boxing, and every other martial art. I see weight cuts like any other skill in the sport, if you can cut 25lbs but other people can only cut 10, that's not your problem. People feel like cutting weight makes it unfair, but you could say the same about throwing low kicks, cardio, power etc... It's a part of the sport, if you don't want to participate in it, fine but don't complain when someone else is operating within the rules, and hungrier for an advantage. Whether they fight the next day (after hydrating) or the same night (like they used to, and still do in smaller promotions) you will NEVER remove weight cutting. Hydration tests and everything else has been around for decades, it doesn't stop it, nothing will except removing weight classes entirely, which isn't going to happen

There could be a marked skill increase when guys stop cutting as much (I've read about a number of guys who were spending almost their entire camp just focusing on cutting weight). The cut could be affecting certain guys more than others (for various reasons). The variables are endless. You're probably correct to an extent about the talent, but I guarantee you if they spend the necessary time and money the talent will come. Just look at the growth of the sport in the last 10-15 years. When I started watching regularly lightweight was the lowest of only five weight classes. Think of the career Frankie Edgar would've had if he started fighting at bantamweight.
@@beastwaynes4868 There is definitely a lack of talent at the higher weight classes. Just look at the UFC roster. There are only 73 HW's and 66 LHW's currently active on the UFC roster compared to 133 LW's, 117 FW's, 111 WW's, and 104 MW's. The only weight class change that can be justified is creating a 165 and a 175 while getting rid of 170. If we started splitting up the higher divisions you'd end up having divisions of 40-50 guys which makes no sense. And talent is never going to come to those higher weight classes simply because there are not enough men on the planet to fill those weight classes. If you took all athletic men on the planet and told them to pick a weight class, 80% of them would fall between 145 and 185 after cutting weight. There aren't enough big guys in the world to make the higher weight classes competitive
Weight classes were created for one reason - to generate more money. More stars, more championship fights. If there were no weight classes the entire ufc roster would be LHW and HW
We want to see the best skills. They do not belong to any weight class. Would be stupid not to see the most amazing LW because he gets smashed by a mediocre HW.
@@benlewis5312 I agree. I'm definitely not advocating for a new weight class every 10lbs, _especially_ not in the heavier weights. I do think 10lbs gaps between 125 and 185 makes perfect sense though; and I'd be very interested to see what would happen if all fighters had to be within 10lbs of their fighting weight between signing on the dotted line and the moment their first foot touches the canvas. The quality and numbers of the roster by weight will always fluctuate though, and LHW in particular is as weak as it has ever been currently imo. That's why I think the UFC needs to be a little flexible, and maybe try going back to the original format with the heavier weight classes. Hold a handful of grand prix tournaments for 200lbs upwards, then do an Ultimate Ultimate every year during international fight week or something.
Edit: First time Khamzat ever missed weight as well.. Basically Khamzat at 170 HUGE FUCKING PROBLEM for everyone!! I would say even Colby!! But that's the fight to see for SURE!! That said.. Khamzat at 185? Meh.. Will he be as effective? Probably not. It ALL comes down to how much energy will that easier cut give him. He may find himself with a gastank for DAYS!! Now that he isn't cutting weight, and he will be able to do those explosive takedowns and go Incredibly hard the WHOLE DAMN TIME!! If this is the case? New Boss in 185..
We’ll get a better idea of how good he is when he starts fighting more guys who are his size at 185 instead of weight bullying 170ers
He will be fine at 85
He lost to a 155er, and isn't what you all hyped him up to be.
@@mattbarker1411 who are you talking about
Hahahaha the guest called Khamzat "Hazmat" at 3:43 He is indeed hazardous material
Ufc group Khamzat: I kill everyone. Dana added Shavkat Rakhmonov Khamzat: …..
There is absolutely no way in hell Khamzat needs to be fighting at 170. I don’t care how often he makes 170. The dude is gigantic at 170. Bigger than every other fighter at 170, comfortably bigger than all of them. He is very appropriate for 185 though and I do believe he could win that belt. I even think if he bulked up to 205 (which he does often walk around over 200), he could give a lot of those guys real problems. 1:33 Alex Pereira absolutely has no business at 185.
Kevin Holland is bigger than him, we know what happened there.
@@D0W666 Holland fights mostly at 185 now. And has zero ground game. As I’ve said in many other comments, Khamzat only wants to fight smaller guys or guys with no ground game.
@americandissident9062 if Khamzat only wants to fight smaller guys why did he choose to fight Holland?? Who is bigger than him? Why didn't he fight Nate? Who is tiny compared to Khamzat? You make no sense. Shut up.
@americandissident9062 you don't make sense and you make shit up. You're a moron who knows fuck all.
Does UFC have weight check-ins with commissions during 8/6 week camp?
Khamzat has never been the same after he caught Covid. True fans remember when he first came on the scene. He was a generational talent at 170.
u high af😂😂
He got beat by Gilbert then was 18 pounds over weight to fight Diaz. True reason is he is probably in the war or is hiding out. So he doesn't get drafted
@@cole498 he won tho…. And huh 😂 u high too ain’t you my boy khazmat will be champ you a 🍆🚴
@@cdot187 hey dummy. You don’t remember when he was coughing up blood from training with Covid and got rushed to the hospital. You don’t remember Dana being pissed, the doctors told him he needed to stop to fully recover, and he trained and made it worse on his kidneys. Look it up.
Paulo Costa is a different animal. Good luck wrestling that.
Colby 100%. Leon was getting thrashed around in the first fight, and once Kumaru got bored of beating the pulp out of Leon, that created the opening for Leon to throw the hardest head kick he has ever thrown in his entire mediocre career. The second match was just Kumaru having fallen off. His piston-like jab was gone. His wrestling wasn't the same. Colby is going to get that belt.
What if Leon head kick Colby too??
@@danielatlas7059 He won't get that lucky twice.
@@gregfalco4528 anything is possible in MMA, hope you know it. Colby don't have heavy hands like Usman so getting KO'd is out of equation for Leon which might leads into a well executed head kick KO
@@danielatlas7059 Don't bet on it.
@@gregfalco4528 tbh i fucking need Colby as the champ. Him and Sean Strickland's run as champs might be best thing ever happened in UFC. So i pray to gods
Isn’t the iWatch advert going to upset the UFC a little
Man called him hazmat lmao
Yea the bump from 170 to 185 is the most drastic jump between Weight classes. Very easily.
You forgot 185 to 205
And 205 to 265!
@@beastwaynes4868 the higher in weight u go the less total percentage of bodyweight you lose. A 230 pounder cutting to 205 isnt as bad as a 160 pounder cutting to 135
@@micahwest2793 185 to 205 isn't that bad. There are currently only 66 active LHWs compared to 104 active MWs, so there is far less competition moving up a division. Also as fighters start to get larger, weight differences matter less since nearly everyone has KO power and unnecessary weight slows fighters down. It's especially evident at heavyweight where you see guys like Gane (248), Jones (249), Miocic (240), and DC (251) doing just fine against HW's that have a 15-30 pound weight advantage
they weigh fighters when they get in town and have a physical, so they know how much he needs to cut. Khamzat was probably real heavy so they watched him close.
That add was crazy
I think after the Max n Khabib, they’re finally cautious
or they KNEW that Nate was going to receive the bloodiest worst beat down of his declining career and they intervened.
Should weigh in the morning of the fight so they cant cut weight and fight at what they friggin weigh it would be way better fights and way better for the fighters health and safety
Jamie, pull up the video of the bear fighting Khabib.
Started training with Till😂
They do it to where you have time to recover instead of going into the fight dehydrated and drained. That’s a big liability to have two guys fighting after that kind of stress to their body’s
Khamzat don't give a shit..he just want to fight and give him Money
pretty simple make them fight on the same day as weigh ins. then they will fight closer to their most comfortable weight and have no time to pack it back on
100% the weigh ins should be like 2 hours before the fight. i think we would see much better fights aswell if you get rid of the weigh cutting
170-185lbs is a dinner to me. The real issue here is heavyweight. Not just in MMA, but in Wrestling. In the UFC its 205/206 to 265/266. That is 60-62lbs gap. You don't know if you can get Zangief or E. Honda at heavyweight. 170-185 is prefect in my opinion.15 pounds for an average size human beings is enough of a weight gap to not sleep on. That way fighters actually genuinely care and bulk up properly not just throw food in their mouth and call it day. Qualify mass takes quality work!
Need to follow one championships lead and ban weight cuts
I think he could beat anyone at any weight this guy he's just completely one mental animal of a man who really has what it takes to win in this game haha
