  • His team set him up perfectly, he's obviously an insane player but look how many flashes sh1ro, magisk and chopper use to set him up. It massively helps donk that all his teammates even though they are all really good players have absolutely no ego. Chopper and sometimes even magixx even jump around in front of him to bait the opponents out for him. EDIT: i just checked sh1ro, chopper and magixx were all top 10 for flash assists at katowice

  • Austin, i've played cs for 24-25 years, since the half life mod beta. I've seen good, great and amazing players. Great and amazing are a high level, but is there anything higher? Yes, Elite level. Elite level players do have an incredible understanding of the timing on each scenario, they have a book in their head and have written it themselves. You can't teach someone the way donk plays, you can't show them and explain it to them and expect them to understand. This kid envisions things like no ordinary player. When most have their hands on a keyboard and mouse and are telling themselves their next move, donk has a knife in his right hand and his left is bare, he already knows his play, whether he wins or completes it, he doesn't second guess himself, he doesn't even think, he just knows it's right for the position and timing he's on. He quite literally puts himself in the game and is the character running around with the weapon instead of most knowing they are a player. I know this because i was that guy too. There are many players that have been able to play with a heightened sense, and a lot have never even been on the pro scene or heard of. The game is very skill based and you can also get very far with a smart brain depending on the role you play in a team. It's when you combine them both and do it subconsciously that you become a donk level Elite player guys. You see players think and contemplate situations, and that's great, but when you're doing it without having to think, that's when you know. Just some yummy food for thought, i hope to see more of you.

    • Also on your side tangent, i agree the team aspect can counter any player, a decent team and co ordination can beat any single player. But the beauty of that is it works both ways, that great player can also counter that whole team. It's one of the greatest things about our game, a 1 vs 5 situation can nearly always be won with the right read and positioning and man we love to see it. The bottom line is donk is showing everyone a new level of cs2, which is crazy to say with the likes of monesy, niko, ropz, broky, zywoo and the list goes on in the scene. That's insane to say..

      @RedawNLIVE@RedawNLIVE2 ай бұрын
    • @@RedawNLIVEthose flow states are always something I'm chasing. Many of have experienced it briefly, where our own book of experience can give us a 6th sense, and it becomes a rhythm game of timings! I haven't reached that state in CS yet with 20+ years on and off. I reached that state in Overwatch when it was new, then fell off it with the constantly shifting sands of metas, balancing, etc and I couldn't keep up, and the community began to rot, and I did other things with my time. Ty for writing about it, it's kind of where I've seen all the highest level play boil down to in the end.

I believe that teams will have a hard time to figure out anti donk strats since he is playing so unpredictable, hence why no demo reviews really popped up yet. It's hard figuring this kid out and people are still trying. I actually hope to see a small Spirit era with the upcoming events. • Great video! Would be very interesting to see the same kind of analysis of his game against Mouz on Mirage at the RMR, and hear your views on how and why he got countered there. I do think that Karrigan dropping, or at least dropping right at the hut a entrance, was definitely a mistake, because if there is anyone in the hut at that moment, it does not seem reasonable to expect to win a duel against them in most cases, imo. And just in general exposing yourself to 1vX duels when you have man advantage is not a very prudent thing to do. Remaining on top of the hut and forcing opponents to come out and get exposed to all sorts of different angles in order to kill you, makes much more sense. That also buys more time for your teammates’ rotations.

  • One thing you didn’t mention was donks movement in gun fights which I heard one other person comment on and show once in third person. Normally people would crouch spray are easily traded but something about the way donk does it seems to be different often times. He suggested donk crouch spams so he’s crouching and uncrouching generally making him harder to hit than someone simply crouch spraying.

  • Re the A site pathing, at 45:32 ish he walks out hut looking top hut and then flicks to heaven as soon as he goes into heavens angle. If heaven was further out he should be on donks minimap or damaged magixx. So if heaven isn't out on donks check, he can likely get an unpunished timing to back site and block heaven with molly. which he does, then peeks lower during molly, then goes to HE heaven as soon as molly is out. I guess they know faze patterns well enough that he doesn't care about second vent in that moment, cus yeah it's crazy to me he doesn't peek that after hut and just goes straight to back site. Idk if that's right but just my guess at the thought process

  • so... about the round 16.. hut to back of A Site decision.. can you please better explain the reason you thought this might be a misplay? because.. I just came back to CS, been playing for 6 days, havent played since CAL.. but that seemed obvious to me... we know they are defaulting 2 ramp, 1 A, 1mini, 1 Outside.. We get info from the frag as we begin the rush, Karrigan is ontop of hut. We have a teammate firing off a MAC10 to mini...Garage isnt getting to heaven that fast, and now its most likely, espicially with that much smoke down in A, your #2 ramp is gonna go to anchor B from potential quiet vent. and I would always assume Ramp1, is going to push lobby, or hold ramp. Why are you not assuming the 1 ontop the hut, is the heaven player? Begining of the rush, and ramp2 commonly going under vs oldschool style of CT nuke, where #2ramp, was always playing hell/heaven/outside. Lastly, before he takes the most damning angle i believe, karrigan kills the MAC10 teammate fighting towards mini, so he knows if he goes front of site route, he is fighting into a 2v1, potential 3v1 (if garage is close mini), with smokes and squeaky teammate dead... I dont think what you said of cutting hard right was ever a play there.. (although I do agree, most common thing to do when FULL HARD RUSH, is first one out hut hard right into front of site is proper, now off timings, you gain a potential man up on the mini fight, etc..) in no world does Ramp2, or Garage go heaven that quickly, and if they are there they should be screaming up that ladder and sound que'ing... this is always proper because they are down to 3 terrorists and havent traded yet, you dont run in 1v2 in that moment, you take what ground you can safely. Boom, teammates now have a safe entry into site through hut door, they throw util heaven, opens donk up and he peaks the ones squeaky side finally to try and trade up. Doesnt work, but that gameplay, to me, was crisp. In short: if he did what you said.. he opens himself up to more angles, and less chance his last 2 teammates can help him trade or do anything useful... he understands karrigan dropped off hut towards vent from mac10 teammate dying, he does most proper thing and takes back of site, and now holds heaven angle. this allows teammates to help open him up now, they come to hut door which they know is safe, throw util, and now they can enter and peak mini from both sides of site. The kid is smart. He has good game sense. Alot of respect for this kid, with all the duck spraying, getting vibes of a next HeatoN/ Potti / SpawN off him lol.

  • One thing people don't realize is that not only it's a new game, but also how new donk is to the cs scene. Considering his current performance and age, I am sure he will end up in the top 10 players for a long time. However, because he is new, pros don't know how he plays. They don't have enough information about him, to do their research, and optimize game strats. Even now, after Katowice, players have already caught on to his play style. You can see this in the RMRs. We will truly see how goated donk is in the upcoming major. However, I don't think we will see the same performance we saw during the Katowice ever again.

  • I feel like donk has the best scaling aim I have ever seen. What I mean by "scaling aim" is the ability to just strafe forward into angles with perfect crosshair placement while moving. He walks into places and it seems like his crosshair isn't even moving because its so perfectly in motion in tandem with his natural movement. The cruel part of it is if he is ever wrong and clears the wrong angle while scaling sites or whatever, he still has insane flicks that are bursty and often doesnt move an inch to far or close. Essentially making him just an unstoppable force, can just walk in everywhere and win.

Its like seeing Messi break onto the scene. And i don't think that's an understatement when the kid smashes Nikos 1.53 rating when i think it was. Which some thought would never be broken. But this was at Kato against a much more polished CS scene at his first LAN. This kid needs documenting, cause if he keeps control of his mental this could be something we have never seen before. For 17 his crosshair placement and understanding of timings, its not calculated like Nikos or Ropz it seems more innate if that's the right word. I guess what I'm trying to say is we more demos!!!

  • 45:50 magixx checked heaven from hut, they had a molly on backside that nobody stepped on. Going the ''wrong'' way was probably his safest option for him. Donk is gifted in this game, hope to see a lot more from him. Had no clue who he was before this match and was sure Faze would destroy team spirit 😂

  • Also there is no way we can really know if hes going to be that that good only time will tell He is full of confidence at the moment something could break his confidence Ill believe it when i see it with longevity if he really is him.
