  • I really like this discourse about how foreigners view Filipinos in general. Their thoughts are on point in terms of culture, attitude, relationships, and occupation. I am Filipino-American and proud to be part of both cultures which make me the person I am!

  • We Filipinos are arount the world, I am a nurse here in Canada and I can say that Filipinos can blend well to everyone around the world and we don’t insist our culture to them just like the people you see on the news protesting and wanted their culture and beliefs to be followed in the very country who accepted them to the community.

  • 2:46 one of the reasons why there are high society Filipinos in Spain, is because of historic connection, in the far past educated rich Filipinos went to Spain to study and some never went back, and because of USA occupation many Spanish-Filipinos moved to Spain most of them where wealthy.

    • Mexico still has WAY more ties to Spain even in modern times. My parents are from Zamora, Spain and I was born in CDMX, MX and we were always at home in Mexico because of my parents business dealings. Filipinos have nothing in common with Spanish people.

  • Hi El. Thanks for this topic. As a Filipino who was a sailor and traveled everywhere in the world, i have seen filipinos everywhere i go and very much appreciate their resilience to adapt to the country they migrated to all in the name of having the ability to send money back home to their loved ones. We do it for our families as it is the most important value our culture has.

    • True, my grandparents are all Filipinos but they look diverse. My paternal grandfather has distant Chinese and Mexican roots, paternal grandmother has distant Negrito and possibly Spanish roots from her Ortega line. Maternal grandfather looks Indian and Malay with dark brown skin and giant build, and maternal grandmother was ⅛ Spanish.

  • I live in the Phillipines fore 2 years, what I see is family is1 also church, eventhough most off them are poor they always are happy, they live day by day, the most have no long term plan, they all are good dansers and singers and love music, negative: cleaning is not favorite, when there is food fore today they stop working, a lot off them are friendly to get into your wallet but understandeble when you have nothing

  • The Philippines should consider reinstating Spanish as one of the compulsory language subjects in primary and secondary schools so that there will be a generation of Filipino Spanish language speakers qualified to take high-paying skilled professional jobs in Spain and use Spain as the European steeping stone to move into France or Germany as naturalized European citizens.

  • Most pure, ethnic Filipinos are of Astronesian heritage and in time mixed with other Asians such as the Chinese, Malayan, Europeans such as the Spanish, French and others from their progenitors. Hence, when you say you're of a certain heritage, you're referring to a 'tribe' or where you have adapted the vernacular and not based alone on physical appearance. Most are heinz 57. My take on most filipinos are SEXY and playful!
