The USA isn't only leading the world with the most noble prizes won, recently it's also leading in inventing new genders. Slowly but surely they are also exporting them to Germany and the rest of Europe.

My friend in Berlin is having issues with two people at the moment who take over conversations to police their speech and make sure they address certain people certain ways… it’s extremely rude and disrespectful yet they believe they are doing something good. • Did it happen in English or Geman ? I think Germans are more relaxed cause they don't mind to correct you, that's everyday part of language. But Americans feel offended by beeing corrected and have a moral dilemma to stay polite. If you are not allowed to be corrected, you need to prohibit assumptions and ask each individual. It's completly logical, but also very unefficient and unpractical.

I never insulted anyone. Now, after 2 years, if I do not like my own comments, they do not appear to other people here. Apart from other (way) more important things, I would never go to vote for a party, if it does not promise me, that it will sanction all internet social media (Facebook, Twotter, KZhead, Instagram, all of them) that do not show comments of commentators, or who deleted accounts based solely on the content of their comments. They should only legally be able to do so, in cases of spamming, phishing attempts, or other fraudulent or dishonest activities that can physically or financially damage people. Needless to say, that in my (small) country (Greece), there is not a single party that offers that, and this is why not a single person my age that I know of, goes to vote. • To add some more context, in Germany we have a different ending for each gender. It's like "actor" and "actress", but for literally every human related noun, for example, we don't have just "teacher" but "Lehrer" and "Lehrerin". Therefor, our language wouldn't even be able to properly support 105 genders. Also, special pronouns are much more difficult German, we can't just say the equaivalent of "they", as the third person plural is like the female singular but with plural conjugation. There are some new pronouns like "dey", but they sound REALLY weird imo, to a point where it is easier for me to talk about a queer person in English than in my own first language.

    @Cyberlisk@Cyberlisk8 ай бұрын
    • Same in Slavic languages, but usually we just use male gender to indicate profession, with a lot of exceptions of course, so it will be Doctor, Musician, Programmer, actor, surgeon, novelist, literally every medical profession we use in male gender, meanwhile if u use this words in female gender it won't be mistake but just gonna sound super weird. I found it just as a matter of habit in language, but perhaps for women recognition we have to change this habit and use female gender more often.

    • Worry not mate, it can get fixed - like Sweeds got "hen". And it should be pretty easy noting that "Mädchen" or "Weib" are already gernder neutral (i still dont get the reasons behind it, hehe). But ye, in Polish we already got something like "zrobiłOm" (i made/ich habe gemacht) as 'gender neutral' form (masculine is "zrobiłEm", feminine "zrobiłAm"; the neutral form (like das) in 3rd person would be actually "zrobiło" [like a kid made something]). I mean, ofc its still kind of twitter/instagram-bio-language but since Polish grammar is pretty complicated and this shit somehow works, i guess simmilar rules could get applied to other European languages - like Spanish or German. Think about it: like for instance "MechanikerOn" instead of "Mechaniker/Mechanikerin". And then you just have to apply this rule to every single name of profession. Voila! ps. I didnt mean to offend anyone :(. If anyone wants me to refer to them as "they/them", i dont really mind.

  • As a former fetish model, I don't care what people identify as and I feel very strongly that everyone has a right to self-identify as they choose. WITH THAT SAID THOUGH, I know at least 3 people in the US who are chronically toxic and abusive. Whenever they have to face consequences for their actions (because the rest of the music community finds out about it from one of their victims), they always suddenly have a new minority class marker of some sort to add to their self-identity, and they have all added a made-up gender to themselves. One of them, I'm pretty sure, just did that so that they could participate in a free tech education program that was for women-identifying people only. I'm not saying that everyone is faking how they feel and/or are toxic. However, this has become a very convenient way for predators to hide in vulnerable communities in plain sight and have access to really young, inexperienced people SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE it's bigoted to call people out for faking any of this.

Of course if you're gonna try to deny someone's identity at the same time as accusing them of crimes, people are gonna be suspicious of you, cause that will make it seem like you have other motives for making the accusation. That's just how it works - descriptively, not prescriptively. And that phenomenon is largely due to how transphobes like to call *all* trans people predators, as a blanket statement, which dilutes it and makes it harder to out *actual* predators - it's become a well-known negative stereotype, and as a result, people try to account for that bias

      @Unelith@Unelith2 ай бұрын
    • @@Unelith You've missed my point. I'm not saying that all transpeople are predatory for simply being trans. However, I am saying that there are a few people out there who pick up a special identity after they have done something predatory and been outed as such, and then play that card anytime that someone holds them accountable for their actions. (Like, "Oh, but you're just saying that because I am trans and you think all transpeople are predatory." when there was 0 indication that the person was saying that it applied to every single transperson, kind of like how you have done in the reply to me.)

Try curiosity instead of judgement next time Sex is about biology, gender is about society. If you’re actually interested in learning more, there’s also more than two sexes. A lot of people are born intersex where they don’t have clear male or female reproductive organs. Some cultures also have third and fourth genders and have had them for centuries or millennia (Google hijras if you’re interested). It’s actually pretty interesting!

BUT I have literally said to people before "My name is (name) I know it sounds silly but I prefer to be called that instead of madam or maam. PLEASE." But I think it's cultural and also in some jobs they're probably told they HAVE to use Madam or maam but I'd literally rather be called Miss. God, I'd SO much rather just be called my name. I know its not the same but yeah I think I get it a little more now about the gender thing. And it doesn't hurt me to address someone by their preferred pronounds so I'm happy to do that.

    • You're correct. They've moved so far left that they're off the spectrum! Gender Identity should be what's visible to others - your look, your clothes, biology. What you feel and what your preferences are shouldn't determine that. You could be born a male biologically and might grow up to be whatever. You'll still be male if you "appear male" to others. People should stop being touchy about it or they should tattoo their identity on their forehead so people can be addressed the right way. One's "state of mind" is within and not obvious. Today people have started to stereotype - if one is male they have to be a certain way. If they're trance, they should be a different way. Why not just keep behaviour, preference and emotions out of this? One should have freedom to do as they please with no discrimination. Someone can be male and still do feminine/whatever stuff. Why give yourself a new label?
