  • As a sailor and active diver I spent nearly 5 years sailing and diving Mexico and the South Pacific. It is amazing the percentage of sea creatures that have human garbage and fishing gear attached to their bodies.

  • I only thought small fish cleaned off the sharks skin - never knew big fish did it too! It's amazing how the white doesn't want to eat it! How does he 'know' to leave it alone this time and that it wants to clean him. It's so cool.

  • I don't know if you heard of chafing before Carlos, but that is a temporary relation between fish and sharks when fish rub themselves against the shark's skin to relieve an itching. Even smaller sharks seek out larger sharks (like whale sharks) to get a good scratch. It's very fun to watch, though; as is your work.

  • I didn’t know what to expect from the title knowing what razor sharp teeth Barracudas have. How fantastic to find out that indeed the “bite” was beneficial to the white shark to rid it of external parasites. I love that nature finds ways to have these symbiotic relationships between creatures and they innately know. The knowledge is just there. Thank you as always Carlos, for the beauty and the education ❤ 🦈

I actually shared this video with about 10 of my friends on Facebook Messenger with a note about the other videos you do and told them to check out your videos because they were so amazing. I’m really glad I did that now Carlos. ❤️ I will definitely share more now I know the situation. It may help you to know it’s happened to another animal video creator too. There are a few saying the “algorithm” has been changed. Perhaps that maybe why? Just a thought. Take care. You bring joy to me and many others. ❤️

  • I love your videos and always watch them - with regard to the shark trailing the kelp from its dorsal fin, I have another possible explanation. Yes it could definitely be a fishing leader but from my observation I think it might possibly be a radio tag that has entangled the kelp. It was hard to tell but there seemed to be a bulbous apparatus attached that looks similar to a tagging / tracking device. It is certainly not definitive but I know there are numerous tagging / tracking programs active in the US and around the world. I was an avid offshore fisherman for many, many years and follow these important efforts still. Just a thought ? Thank you for what you do - your work is vitally important to our understanding to these beautiful animals.

  • This was a wonderful video as usual, Carlos! 'm constantly surprised by all the the documentary evidence you bring to the ecological database. 2:10 Did you happen to notice that the fishing line is starting to significantly cut into the shark's tail? It is definitely becoming a candidate for losing its dorsal fin by strangulation. It has the same appearance as the many sea lions that another KZhead channel showing their documents of the efforts at saving as many of them as they can in Namibia.

  • I would imagine the dorsal fin has many functions, including scaring people when you see it poking up out of the water. Seriously though, I figure that the way they swim along for quite distances with the dorsal fin above the water potentially sends signals to the shark how high in the column it is. I wonder if it has temperature sensing nerve endings in it, like our fingertips?
