Holding the die set as the other guy swings full blow requires a serious level of commitment and a huge set of balls.
Yes, if the sledge hammer guy misses the die, you end up in a whole world of pain and possibly a broken hand.

The humble rivet is still one of the best ways to join two metal plates together. For those that don’t understand, once the rivet cools it decreases in length bringing the two bits of metal incredibly tight together. It won’t undo or become loose over time either. Simple bit incredibly effective.

When I watched your chaps heating up the revits on chassis then hold the finishing tool you have a lot of skill not to hit the hand of your buddy 👍❤️🏴🚛
I know hitting that revet and so close to his hand is unbelievable Stay Awesome guy keep building those trucks.
It's too risky and not appreciable.. even he has six Sigma certification ( 3.4 errors in a million) tht means he may end career of three fellows by hitting hammer on hand in every million strokes ...
If I had to hold a rivet dolly for someone to formthe rivet head , I will only trust a pakistani truck sledge hammer operative in this world. they never miss and they don't swing slow either they hit with all their might. Unbeilievable what tey do outside in the open. Regards
I saw on a video how they train the sledge hammer guy, on an old western called Once upon a time in the west, the guy holding the finishing tool is also holding a loaded and cocked gun on on the other hand pointing to the sledge hammer guy, only two guys missed the finishing tool, may they rest in peace.
But not enough mechanical intuition to know that rivets in the top plate are useless, 90% of the load is in the side plates.

All the folks saying safety this, tools that. This is a different world here, use what you have to do the job, do the job correctly and reasonably. In Europe or USA no one thinks twice about 200$ metatarsal boots to do this work in or 30$ safety glasses, well guess what? 30$ is 4 or 5 days pay and buys food for your family for a week. It is not Europe or the USA it is Pakistan and the is how they did things. You watch where you walk, what you do and use your brain to keep from getting hurt because from a young age you learn no one is watching out for you but you. Pakistan truck: your work is amazing, your workers are amazing and the finished product is very road worthy... great work and thank you for the look into your day, the video and sharing the time it takes to make them.
the dude with the sledge hammer misses = the guy holding the riveting die looses the hand...and no, not exacerbating, the damage from the sledge hammer would be enough for even a western hospital to give you a 50/50 chance of loosing the hand. Over there? Amputation guaranteed. (and you'd still have to hope you don't die of sepsis) And it's not just holding the rivet die with his hand instead of having a long handle for it. Sketchy jacking, running the entire truck axle unbalanced in a lathe, long loose sleeves when operating said lathe, sticking hands between unsecured heavy metal objects (personally seen why that is bad idea...) He won't be able to feed himself, let alone his family if he becomes a cripple, all because nobody wanted to take a few minutes to make something safer by attaching a piece of scrap metal to something. Do you still think this work mentality is not insane?
Okay I get what you're saying but I would never have stood underneath that load when the crane had the dump body in the air and I'm sorry that just doesn't make any sense to me
🇵🇰😍👍
@@AKAtheA At 0:14 that man is putting a hell of a lot of work in taking that ruined rusty bolt off . The only reason one would do that is to reuse it . That makes even the work they do sketchy and dangerous . $30 bucks for safety glasses ? How about $2.50 at home depo . I have smashed steel toe in my boot so bad it had to be cut off . I have had steel in my eye with safety glasses . Risking being crippled just because osha is not looking out for you is just stupid

That guy holding the rivet buster is really trusting, the guy with the sledgehammer. You guys amaze me. Of course, a lot of what they do, the repairs wouldn’t be legal in the US. Here, if the repairs aren’t done to specifications, the repair will not pass.
The crooked chassis I mean cracked one been doubled up with extra plate then welded together, is that passes the inspection?
It will work and maybe for a couple of years but no it wouldn't pass inspection because of the laws. In the US you use a new frame rail or make a new one. If it breaks often you make a new one thats twice as thick and replace both sides. However lots of older US trucks have had the frames strengthened but not repaired by stacking as many as 3 frame rails and bolting them together down the length. Also have seen many off the road trucks in the US with frames repaired this way and some repaired much worse than the vid. But those were only used on dirt roads on job sites. Never on public roads. Sometimes people in the US will take the risk and repair their own on Hiway truck frame this way and hide the repair as best they can to fix a truck cheap but it is illegal but maybe they will never be caught. Especially if they hide the welded frame piece inside a larger one and then put a smaller piece inside also. In the US though it's usually easier to just sell the damaged truck and buy another truck.
@@crazyoilfieldmechanic3195 thats US not in Pakistan. They know what they are doing. You can see for yourself? In the U.S. with so many regulations that can safe lives but costly. In Pakistan not so plenty of regulations yet top job, they believe what their colleagues up to.
The rules are written in blood. It's taken 100 years for the rules to prevent all kinds of injuries and deaths.
