  • I'm a massive Jorge fan but but there was a massive conditioning gap between the two fighters. At 37 you can't only just get in shape for the fight, you need to be an athlete all year round to compete with the likes of Colby.

    • There’s a massive conditioning gap between Colby and everyone in the world not named usman. Masvidal had his chances to end him, he was just spent and didn’t unload. I respect the wrestling, I appreciate the skill, but it just makes for a god awful fight. Colby got the win though, good on him.

  • In 25 minutes of fighting Jorge had one second where he managed to hit Colby flush. And even with it happening late in the fight (when guys typically get KOd from shots like that) Colby was back up and pushing the action almost immediately. If these guys fought 10 times Colby wins 10 of them. It also makes you wonder, if Jorge didn’t land that knee vs Askren how mauled he would’ve got.

Strikers have a level of pride. Wrestlers are stupid wicked at finding takedowns at crazy angles. It makes a striker have to be pinpoint accurate AND fast at point A to point B and back speed. I can't tell you how many times I felt I was dominating and it's that split second of leaving my arm out to long on a jab whether body or headshot that the wrestler just capitalized on. It does make you freeze up. Or let's just say you can defend the takedown the mere thought of constantly having to grapple is taxing. That's why I give Covington credit. • Jorge is going to sulk even more when if he re-watches the fight. Not only did Colby rag doll him, but he out struck Jorge on the feet for 5 rounds, not just in significant strikes, but in strikes in general as well. Jorge had 1 good shot and he couldn't even capitalize on it. Colby did exactly what he did in the Usman 2 fight and immediately got back to his feet and went to work. Colby just keeps getting better and better with each and every fight. Those 2 Usman fights, you know he learned a lot from, hence why he was even better in the 2nd even though it wasn't as crazy as the 1st.
