One of my only gripes with this keyboard and corsair is that you can't use the keyboard shortcuts for lighting etc while the icue program is running.
In my opinion, I had the k55 and it had a detachable micro usb cable in the back. After a while it broke. So I would much prefer wired in the back. Unless Corsair put a USB Type C in the back.
I'm just going to say, if you ever decide to go for the K60 pro from corsair, the case is a little hollow. I wouldn't recommend typing really hard on the keys because it makes a sound from the case, like an echo. But it is a very good keyboard and I recommend getting it.
I like functionality. I don't need big keyboards with lots of extra buttons. This one is small, smoothy keystrokes, quality, efficient. RGB is a bonus but I don't really need it. Easy to clean with good spacing. And RGB functions without iCUE bloatware is nice as I'm running minimalist linux.
Can you change the keycaps with pudding keycaps? I know they are bigger but thats why Im asking.

Is the microphone on the sound test off, or is that actually how the switch sounds like? I'm confused.
Sounds like the Mic is standing on the toilet....
KZhead compression has definitely given it a bit more of a 'twang' - the original file doesn't sound quite like that. but you can still get the gist of the difference versus the Speed Silvers - less 'thwack', it's a higher pitch sound

I've had the keyboard for a while and let me give my opinion on it. REGARDING THE SMOOTHNESS OF THE SWITCHES: When I was looking for the red switches I wanted linearity and low actuation force. Unfortunately CORSAIR manages very high prices for keyboards with RED switches, so when I saw this new VIOLA at a low price (well... not at all low really) and that is very similar to the RED ones, I was very excited, BUT it happens that Although the actuation force for the VIOLA is 45 g (the same as the RED) it is only for its first stroke because after the first two millimeters the force rises to 75 g which is high (especially for those of us who are used to do all the travel of the switch). CONCLUSION: It is not a soft switch. It is HARD and generates tiredness after a while of use. REGARDING THE SPACING BETWEEN KEYCAPS: WHEN the KEYCAPS have a low profile, the spacing distances between key and key (note, I am not talking about the distance between key and key but the distance that separates one key from the other) are decreased, therefore you are more prone to accidentally pressing the key next to it. It took me a long time to get used to this. (In particular, I have been changing many of the KEYCAPS for those of another keyboard that I have that are high profile to try to improve the user experience a bit). CONCLUSION: This keyboard is more prone to typing error REGARDING THE PRICE OF THE KEYBOARD: the price of this keyboard is more than 400,000 Colombian pesos (about 85 USD). Other keyboards on the market come ready with CHERRY MX RED switches and cost even less. The reality is that from my point of view the cost / benefit ratio in the acquisition of this keyboard (CORSAIR K60 PRO with VIOLA switches) is not satisfactory. I have consulted about this type of switches and I think they have not been used in other keyboards on the market (at least for my country) and... it must be for a reason, right? REGARDING QUALITY: (without taking into account the large number of negative comments on the networks about the double fingerings for some keys with these switches, some switches that have only been used for a few days and no longer work, etc.). Particularly on my keyboard the spacebar switch stopped working intermittently and I had to exchange it with the ScrLk switch because I couldn't know where to find replacements for these switches. In accordance with the above, I consider that THE PURCHASE of this keyboard IS NOT JUSTIFIED (especially if you are going to use it largely to type / program / develop for whose applications the fatigue in the fingers after long days is already felt enough) . Several days ago I contacted the CORSAIR brand to express my dissatisfaction with the product and my request to exchange for another keyboard that does not have this type of switches, but they have not yet responded) When you go from a membrane keyboard to a mechanical keyboard and you use this K60 with VIOLA switches the experience is certainly pleasant. Captivates the RGB and a bit the pseudo smoothness that these switches offer. But for those of us who have already worked with other mechanical keyboards with MX RED switches, or other types such as BROWN, BLUE of any brand, we realize that buying this K60 model is a very bad decision. And when I say "this model of K60" I mean that after this model, CORSAIR brought it out again, but not with the same type of VIOLA switches, but with low Profile and other accessories such as the wrist rest (actually, I haven't Couldn't find another keyboard in the world that has VIOLA switches on it, plus you can't get replacements). Obviously they were aware of the error and tried to correct it, but those of us who did not consult less accurate reviews of the keyboard and more objective reviews made the mistake of acquiring it. Mine, for example, I have in a fight so they can change it. When I complained about the dissatisfaction in the user experience (it cannot be that a key has to be pressed with 75 grams for the total travel) the switches had not begun to fail. But now one switch doesn't work and another one is repeating the fingering. The experience with this keyboard is really depressing!

I read that some people had problems at typing. Like you hit the button once and it writtes two or three times said button.
Would optical switches work with the hotswap?
Had this keyboard for around 1 and half years its a okay keyboard the space bar is a gamble it could go super sensitive . When pressed once it goes off twice. Also I had multiple key caps brake on me.
after a wile it does that for most of th keys. Return your keybord and buy something else! My advice i missed the warrant and i'm now furiously angry!

I've had this keyboard for little over a year now, and that is how I got it, as I also needed a new mouse for my workstation (not my gaming rig). I wanted to find something relatively compact and nice to type on and this keyboard fit the bill perfectly (I am a senior software engineer), so when I saw that bundle at Best Buy, I had to snag it. After a year, I am still very happy with the keyboard and it is hold up nicely, along with the M55 RGB Pro mouse.
Just picked one up from walmart for 60$ us. And I would buy more. Best 60$ I have ever spent tbh. And going from the K55 which is currently still 55$, this is a MASSIVE upgrade.

theres a weird metallic sound that you hear after every key you hit. almost if someone is hitting a piece of metal against another metal in the distance. Or as if theres springs under the keys and every time you let go, the spring makes a retracting sound. EXTREMELY annoying.

Heya, pretty late reaction but you can change the switches. However, if you change the switches it voids your warranty... So, I don't advise it tbh

I used it for a year and a half (until yesterday). In general, it was very nice to play on it. Impressions "similar"` as on steelseries apex pro. Everything runs smoothly. The downside is that the keys fall off and I had to glue some of them permanently on superglue. In one I broke the base so I had to replace it with another less used. And finally the letter a started to multiply when pressed not fully. So I had to press it to the end. Something with the switch. Overall impressions very positive, but you can see the budgeting in the durability aspect, and I'll admit that I don't tap too hard, I rather handled gently. Maybe someone will hit a better model. PS. I am now looking for info if you can replace one switch yourself easily.

I paid 70£ for a Corsair STRAFE Cherry MX Brown and it was double typing letters from the very start, returned it straight away. Never buying a corsair keyboard ever again.

Does it work for console?
So you can only use low profile keycaps? Pity because it looks like the bottom row is finally standard sizes. On the Corsair channel they mention that it has PBT keycaps. It is obviously not.
the K60 RGB Pro SE (special edition, not the one we have for review) comes with PBT keycaps. The regular, non-SE has the low-profile ABS caps you can see here. but you can swap these out for regular caps, it's the usual Cherry MX stem
after almost 2 years using k60 the keycaps keep falling off so I use double side tape to stick it on in the meantime my W and Left Shift will interrupt when I try to hold it

Yes I read about the cherry viola keyswitch they are swappable, but I think he means if you decide to swap it out corsair will void your warranty. I have the same keyboard and my space bar double clicks so I plan to swap them if I could find them.
@@shenardosmith6657 I don't understand this either.. they are clearly hot-swappable but corsair "doesn't support this"? I got an R60 pro and the space bar immediately started chattering, i replaced it immediately through amazon, and the second one worked fine for a day and then the space bar started chattering again... i started using software to log the chatter and correct the chatter.. then one day i checked the logs and it wasnt chattering anymore, so i disabled the software and it has been fine ever since.. but i did open up a ticket with corsair, they had a bunch of bogus troubleshooting tips, and i kept asking for just a pack of replacement viola switches and they ultimately said they wont send replacement switches because this board wasnt hotswappable.. but.. it really is.. im so confused.. you can pop out the switches with ease and put them in different places on the board and they work fine.. i just dont understand i guess
@@buradd I think the thing is these viola switches are not for sale anywhere. I checked the site where you can buy them and nothing, I even email the keyswitch distributer for that website and their response was "they are not available" I put in a RMA for my keyboard as well and got the same issue on the new one. My fix was popping out the switch and cleaning it and that worked up until now 1 year later.
@@shenardosmith6657 i legit did the same but the replacement chattered so soon so I opened up a ticket with Corsair.. I really do love the keyboard, I want it so badly to work.. it's been good so far after the chatter randomly stopped on its own so I am going to run with it until I see some more issue.. if I can get a full year out of it, I'll be a lot happier than I feel now
Mind you, I did in fact remove the space bar switch and looked at it, sprayed it with compressed air, and put it back in . It chattered a little bit after that but eventually correct itself somehow

I bought this keyboard. This comment is being made on this exact k60. I'm not sure if you noticed yet, but the space key is not just sensitive. But spams itself. I tried everything to solve this. Haven't even used it for 30 minutes yet. I'm talking this is brand new. Sometimes it doesn't do it and sometimes it does. Not sure why but this ones gonna be a send back and refund. Anyway hope anyone seeing this thinks about the fact they may deal with writing like this. Or pressing delete 1 or 2 times every other word. I used a spacebar counter, I collected 2-5 clicks per press. No holding just an average type pressure. Have fun everyone :D

guys should I buy the corsair k60 rgb pro brand new or the Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 as refurbished or neither of them - there is also the NZXT Function Tenkeyless Gateron. its for competitive and fps GAMING. would appreciate any support

I actually Despise PBT switches, don't like the feel of PBT way too solid to push.

The keys are way too sensitive and the travel time on the keys for them to press WILL make you mistype way too often/make unwanted inputs for movement in games

@@basshead. It's a shame really since everyone seems to want the option of using their own cables. Hopefully next year they'll get the hint and start implementing it!
Besides detachable cables on their keyboards they have some of the BEST keyboards in the world because they are feature rich and when using iCUE they have even more functionality than most keyboards in the price ranges of Corsair keyboards because Logitech only allow you to change macro keys on their mechanical keyboards and razer is still behind on their mech keyboards in terms of customisability of keys whereas Corsair EVERY key can be remapped to whatever you want them to be whether you want them to be remapped to another key or to open a program or to do a bunch of tasks when pressed and so on same with their mice you can remap EVERY key on their mice except LMB (because you need LMB to use your PC because if LMB was remappable then you wouldn't be able to use your PC if your other important buttons and keys on your mouse/keyboard was remapped because at least you can still open settings menu in windows and find the on screen keyboard if needed if you messed up with the macros)

Very bad quality keyboard, I had it for no more than 3 months, and the keys are already doubletapping, the keycaps are coming off because they loosen up overtime, horrible keyboard, never buying corsair keyboards again...
