  • In retrospect it’s probably good Jack struggled that first year. It forced to him learn and adapt to the league. He has looked simply stellar since coming back from the shoulder and he’s not done developing yet. Hard to remember that he’s just 20. The mystery remains… did Ty Smith ever buy himself a car! 😂😂

    • I think it’s good for young, potential superstars to struggle early. It makes them understand that the NHL requires you to bring your best night after night, unlike youth/junior/college where you get games against far inferior opponents and can take a night off. I think it will make him hungrier and honestly, I would bet he wins a cup before a guy like Mathews sniffs a finals appearance

      @wings193@wings1932 жыл бұрын
    • Not disagreeing jack will beat mathews to a cup my only thing is, Hughes is on a team with a wealth of prospects whereas mathews is on Toronto who's fans are so Gung hoe for a cup that the gm trades everything and anything with potential away. Given similar situations this wouldn't even be a conversation mathews is the far superior player. Coming from a guy who hates mathews and the leafs, you can't just discredit his skill

      @connormcteer3319@connormcteer33192 жыл бұрын
    • Not discrediting that Matthews is a superstar in the league and it’s definitely not his fault the Leafs are a mess, but he’s the kind of guy with all the talent in the world but only shows up to play when he feels like it and you can’t really do that especially when you’re the best player on your team.

Hughes is having a good break out season but unless he maintains it for 2+ seasons he's no superstar.
