    • It says ため(tame) which means "for the sake of (the denjin hadouken?)" I really don't understand why it says that. In the English translation it does say hold tho.

    • @@javjuegos_8917 I don't have a full understanding of the grammar involved, but I know that it this context, it's referring to storage; specifically continuing the button press. It's a roundabout way of saying it, but it tracks. A couple of other examples of it being used in this context are Ace's move in Street Fighter EX3 "Chikara Tame," which in that context means power storage. There's also a Japanese fighting game term called "tame bunkatsu," (store partition) which is how they refer to charge partitioning. But that was a little complex to say in my original comment and I wasn't 100% certain I remembered it right off the top of my head (I looked it up again since), so I figured it would be better and more straightforward to just say what they'd officially translated it to instead.

      @sablesoul@sablesoulАй бұрын
  • The icon means hold, not mash. In fact it never says you can mash, churn to make it charge faster. Love that Denjin was a knowledge check in early 3s. If you picked it people didn't know you can't block it at first. Throw a fireball at a different speed and could threaten from mid to close range. Was a good meaty option as they had to invurn wake up or get the parry right. And Ryu already did gobs of stun damage as is, so could just put people into checkmate situations. Add to the fact that you can churn butter to adjust how many hits and stun it did to further disorient your opponent and it was a small super bar giving you both ex and super to play with and it covered so many options.

    • @@treezy7593 SF4 Ryu was a generalist who could do a lot of things well, just not amazing, and in vanilla he was one of the few characters who had a reliable FADC setup to Ultra. Prior to 3S Ryu had this stigma of being a really boring poke and knockdown character with a heavy reliance on fundamentals. He wasn't as combo friendly and flashy as Ken or broken as Super Turbo Akuma/Old Sagat. Denjin Ryu was a paradigm shift that allowed players who knew how to use him do tricky setups and tactics that many thought Ryu wasn't capable of like EX Donkey Kick into meaty Denjin for stun and a 50% followup combo.

  • 20 years ago i lived in the arcade and only played denjin ryu. You should cancel out of shoryu into it more. You can also meaty UOH into shoryu to hit confirm and cancel into denjin. On stun punish if you jab whiff before you combo you can FP or FK into MK into Ex donkey kick into F shoryu if you are just a bit off a kill. There are also some good guard strings you can do to set up a denjin like crouching lp lk lk mk hk into denjin this should put the opponent in a split second of guard stun while pushing you out of almost all non projectile ranges you can charge denjin faster by going diagonal to opposite diagonal instead of circle and then drop a fast 2-3 hits for a stun. Neutral game jump in with MP it hits twice and has all same links also empty jump in while waiting to parry can be a great mix-up to mp jump ins if you parry in air you can do your 3 hit combo if nothing comes you can grab soon as you land.

If they know, they have to invuln through it, or parry. Both aren't so easy, knowing Ryu will be free to try to counter both.

  • Back in the day, I always used to pick Shin Shoryuken for the fact that if you get a raw counter hit with it - it's guaranteed 75%. This was really easy to do thanks to parries. Were there any noteworthy competitive players who used Shin Shoryuken back in the day?

  • I actually really like Ryu in this game! He has everything he needs. Not overtuned or underwhelming. Probably the best balanced character in the game. He should be like this in every game! At least I think so.
