I haven't had a more personal connection with a film.
Shoutout to Nadira and Annelise for our many conversations about the themes of this film. They've shaped every aspect of this video.

  • Another amazing film that came out in 2022 with similar tropes and stories is "Three of Us" from India, must watch if you liked Past Lives.

  • Your breakdown of 'Past Lives' is fascinating! The way you connect the dots in the confusing narrative is impressive. But what really grabs me is how you relate the film to your own life. Thanks for sharing your insights; it's made me appreciate the film even more

  • Brilliant movie, interesting review. Could it be that the Oscar nominees are that childish, so Greta Lee even didn't got nominated for best female role because of the success of Michelle Yeo the year before?! Because, IF she got nominated she HAD to win because, well, obvious, she played the most complex of roles nominated really, really good. Nora already is 1 of my favorite New Yorkers! I hope to see more of her! And of Celine Song too.

    • I completely agree that the Oscar run for Past Lives were tainted by unspoken politics surrounding how it would look if yet another "Asian" film did as well as last year! Cheers

  • She must fly to Korea with him. Different cultures make a huge gap between those married “lovers”

    • I believe Nora and Arthur are doin' just fine together. But as movie and/or tv watchers, we are sort of programmed to want Nora and Hae Sung to be together (now as a couple) again. One of the things that make this American movie, besides of for example the really great acting by the 3 leads ánd the Korean kids also, so good is that as a watcher, you must think and feel for yourself. About what the fuck happens at the end. Really moving, if you ask me. But at other times you see maybe something different...which is a good thing!
