Well the NFB site describes her as a woman who loved life and had a lively spirit, which totally explains her inviting a variety of men home while her husband was away and makes it extremely unlikely she used a hired hand to murder said husband. The townspeople's judgmental attitude to her lively approach to life totally makes it unlikely she was guilty of the murder for which she was hanged.

The blindfold isn't for the victim. It's for the spectators. So they don't see her face --- distorted and tortured expression --- at the last.
