After seeing a ton of chickens on this beach, I decided to attempt another chicken catch and cook on this tropical island. The taste of this wild chicken was not what was I was expecting...

Wild chicken is a bit tougher, it also depend on the age and the gender, breed of the chicken too. Hen are softer than rooster, young chicken is softer than an older chicken too. Farm raise or certain breed of chicken is fatter and more tender and since farm raise chicken is feed a certain food so they’re fat and they’re always in cage so they don’t exercise so they have less muscle and less noticeable tendons. But that rooster you caught is probably a jungle fowl.

Love this vid. Just a tip though. After defeathering it, always use fire or a tourch to get rid of all remaining small feathers. It´s a more proper, easy and fast way to prepare vertebrates at home or in the wild.
Future reference you need to put the just cleaned chicken in an ice bath over night with a lil vinegar to let the meat relax. It has to go through Rigamortus & relax the muscles. Then prepare just as you did. You’ll find it much more tender
Is that what happens when we say we let it “breakdown” and get tender when leaving a leg or such out of a bigger animal? Good stuff lol

You could boil the chicken first, to tenderizer the meat, then fry it. It's what most folks do in the Carribean when we cook wild chicken. Try it out next time

It's good to boil groce6store chicken first top. You can see all of the bleach and nasty stuff come out of it. Makes it have a plain taste and it soaks up the flavors you add better.

They don't parboil/boil the chicken, they scald the skin so it's easier to remove the feathers. At least that's how it's done in SEA.

Greetings from the Cayman Islands 😊 We have had a lot of beach chicken here, we prefer to pressure cook them in curries so that any harmful bacteria are resting in peace. It’s actually easy to catch chicken in an open space with plenty of grains for them to peck at. Heck my friends catch them just with some rice in hands.. You will get there someday, happy chicken fishing 😆

Still miss his idaho fishing adventures. Everything good must come to an end eventually. I still watch them every year around springtime and get the overwhelming urge to pack everything up and move to idaho just so i can fish for trout every single day from the snake river. One day maybe.. 😅

The big food bag on the chicken is the CROP. It has grit they eat and then the crop grinds up their grain/food and then sends it to their stomach. Cropped and Loaded! Oh Crap, that was bad! 😂
You learn so much about animal behavior in this video, it’s amazing. I’m surprised how smart they are! Came to watch a regular catch and cook and I end up surprised by the comedy of a lizard mocking a trapped hen. Anyways, great video as usual, happy you’re back!

When my first husband and I had our farm, we had a rooster named Earl...no kidding, he was almost 2 feet tall, but my husband almost bar-b-cued him when he flogged our youngest daughter lol!! That is crazy because my dad killed a rooster with a shotgun that had spurred Micah when he was about 3 years old. That was the end of the pet roosters in my childhood!

Gotta take in consideration most chicken we eat are factory farmed packed with GMOs and food that is meant to fatten and plump the chickens up. I wild chicken does have that so it’s common to find a scrony chicken.

Great video, enjoyed every second of it. Back where I'm from we usually hunt the roosters 🐓, because the older taught us that the hens might have eggs in the bushes. Guess they didn't wanted us to deplete the population.
