  • the part about his name being spelled in the hoodie reminds me of back in 2006 when I was in the navy stationed in Jacksonville, FL and I wore a ras kass shirt to our daily physical training, it was a red tshirt with the letters RAS on the back and words Run Away Slave. People were lookin at me crazy, especially the black people lol, and I was told it was inappropriate and offensive and that I would have to change my shirt. I always thought it was pretty funny.

  • I remember when Ras had the Ghetto Fabulous joint on BET, and the first time I saw I went out and copped the tape soon after. H20proof still is one of my fave hip-hop tracks ever. Usually if I like an MC's current record I try to find their other work, but living in small town (Jackson, MI) back then made it really difficult to find albums that weren't as poppin as a pac or biggie. There was only a Record Town, Disc Jockey, and Warehouse records in the city and none of them had Soul on Ice in stock or knew wtf I was asking for. Luckily, one of the dudes at warehouse knew whats up and did some looking in their system and found the last one they had but it had to be shipped to the store. Shit got delayed so I had to wait forever to get it. Even better, when I finally got it the case was cracked and the bloom on the inside was shattered so the disc was just rattling around in the case for who knows how long. But it was not scratched, and yes, I still have my CD copy of Soul on Ice with the same broken case!!! Keep up the amazing work!!! Salute!!!

  • hard to learn new things from these new rappers. ras kass gave you real education. everyone wanna talk about conspiracy. and re writing history. and illuminati NOW but him and canibus song channel zero is what opened up my mind all the way to that stuff. i know prodigy and AZ had reference to it. but kass went in depth and i downloaded it right when i got cable modem. just researched everything he said

    • +Mr. J1S Soul on Ice dropped at tough time to compete. When you got 2pac and Westside Connection dominating the airwaves, dudes hoppin in low lows weren't tryin to hear a west coast emcee with EAST coast lyrics and beats. Talking about the illuminati and the grimaldi man haha I admit i dont care for super lyrical hip hop as I'm more into gamespittas like E-40 and Dru Down, Soul on Ice is an album I fux with. Soul on Ice and Xzibit's debut BOTH slept on classics of 96.

    • +AQUAPHREESH193 as lyrical as he is i get why he doesnt pop off. doesnt pick great beats. doesnt have great hooks. and his flow is not gonna be enjoyable to most ppl. trying to fit 20 words into 1 bar doesnt usually make for a good "song" unless its a catchy flow

      @MrJ1S@MrJ1S8 жыл бұрын
    • Mr. J1S PREACH!!! You just addressed something that a lot of lyrical purists dont want to hear!! Im not saying Ras is guilty of this but yeah I couldn't give a shit about some artist that can rhyme a billion dictionary words and spit all kinds of crazy alliterations and hyperboles. If there is no emotion and soul then FUCK THAT! Thats why so many artist that are "lyrical" can't make a quality song for shit!
