When a hunt with Curt at 307 Fowl Play Outfitters comes to mind, our thoughts instantly jump to red legs boiling out of warm water sloughs so skinny you can jump across. There are few destinations in the world that could make a couple Arkansas boys miss an opener at home, but this is certainly one of them. Great hunt fellas!!! As a duck and goose hunter pushing 60 I’m always trying to help the younger guys like you. Please, please, please start protecting your hearing!!!! At least your left ear for right handed shooters and right for leftys. Research the shadow effect. The ear closest to the muzzle takes most of the abuse so it’s critical to protect it!!!! All it takes is a simple foam ear plug. Protect what you have now so you don’t end up like me with half hearing in your left ear!!!! So simple. Forget the macho thing and start protecting please 😃

I will second hearing protection!! You don't have to be old to loose hearing I'm only 31 but I'm totally deff in one ear from hundreds of thousands of rounds shot by my self and from people next to me blowing out my eardrum. Now I hear a weird Humm that wont go away. Protect those ears!
Mad at myself I was not wearing my earplugs. Last year on a goose hunt a knucklehead shooter on my left, a certified Gun Safety instructor for the state of Colorado no less, discharged his 12 gauge probably 8 inches from my ear. That little incident cost me 30% hearing loss in that ear. I had ringing in that ear for eight months.
Although I have not lost any hearing I completely agree with this. It’s like brushing your teeth, keep doing it to prevent the problems later. My father has tentinitus from firing without protection and that warning has kept me diligent about hearing protection.

Great hunt. Could never understand how anyone can be super serious waterfowlers without a dog. Especially if one is a waterfowl guide! Not only are more ducks recovered but you can continue to hunt while the dog makes retrieves and a dog doesn’t flare birds as bad as people do.

I would never drop birds in the brush like that without a dog. They must lose so many birds doing that.
I don't overlook small creeks anymore... Found some birds in one today, little too close to buildings though. Definitely looks like a lot of fun!

I hate the idea of duck hunting. A couple of days ago, when I watched The Wiggles Racing To The Rainbow with my little brother, we saw the video of Five Little Ducks. After the song, there was a duck swimming in the water with the instrumental version of Five Little Ducks playing in the background. It looked so peaceful and beautiful. The music was so beautiful and nostalgic. It broke my heart to realize that ducks were being hunted, abused, made into food, and having their feathers cruelly plucked off to be put in coats and stuff. That's why I choose to wear vegan winter coats and use vegan pillows and use vegan comforters. I refuse to eat duck meat, duck noodles, duck eggs, duck feet gelatin, and any other food made out of duck or has the word duck in it. I mean, I can eat other types of meat, but NOT duck meat. Duck hunting makes me VERY sad.
