The Super Nintendo came out Aug 23rd 1991 and lots of kids still had the NES. And Nintendo even releaed another 275 games after the SNES release. Some kids had moved on to the Super Nintendo and might have missed playing these games, so I'm going to break down my Top 13 games you may have missed back in the day. Also special thanks to my buddy @JohnRiggs for coming in and mentioning one of his favorites.

  • I play the Flintstone games still to this day on emulator because I don't have the original cartridges but I remember this game very well

  • I often thought it was curious that Firebrand, of all characters, is the one who got a spin-off. Kirby's Adventure is so good and holds up incredibly well. That DuckTales 2 fake out ending. lol Mighty Final Fight is a pretty neat one too; nice selection there. Never played Darkwing Duck but I DID enjoy the show.

  • Dragon Fighter was a major inspiration for the look of the modern indie classic Shovel Knight. You can really see it here with the crystals. Loving the Rob the robot commentary. I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the surprise in your cereal box. 😆 Shatterhand definitely is one of the best. It almost looks 16 bit with how detailed every surface is.

    • I can totally see that. And I love me some Shovel Knight. 🤖 "Glad you enjoy my co hosting skills" I know Shatterhand is great, a must play for sure. I think Vice Project Doom, and Power Blade almost have the same feel too

  • Bro, so many NES games that came out after Super NES that are awesome. A couple that are really good are both Batman Return of the Joker & Batman Returns (NES). But in all seriousness, this is easily one of the best Hidden Gem videos I’ve ever seen. So much optimism and positivity in this video. Great Episode as always Russ Lyman.

  • I didn't get a snes for almost 3 years after it came out so yeah I rented some of these back then. Edit it definitely wasn't a Blockbuster I didn't see one of those until I was an adult so 2000 round about.

    @djredshow@djredshow29 күн бұрын
    • Yesssss. Renting certainly was key for trying out games on the cheap. So you were hitting up Mom and Pop rental stores. With the smaller stores they also had a smaller NES game selection I'm sure. So it was slim pickens if the good games were rented out

      @RussLyman@RussLyman24 күн бұрын
    • @RussLyman pretty much 2 copies of each game and contrary to popular belief a lot of redneck kids played video games so yeah better get there fast. Some rednecks still play vidja games.

  • 0:18 Not exactly. With how many parents complained about the Super Nintendo being "a scam" and about having to buy a new console just for new releases, Nintendo allowed NES games to _keep_ being made so that families who _didn't_ bite the bullet on the Super Nintendo could still enjoy new games.

    @CassiDS@CassiDSАй бұрын

    • Some also came out on Gameboy as well, like Darkwing Duck, but Kickmaster looks great and couldn't make a port to the gameboy unfortunately
