A lot of great play, but also inexcusable defensive lapses, on both sides. Not what you'd expect to see at this level. And in a Group of Death like this, you really have to make sure you don't make any stupid mistakes. Neuer's stunned disbelief reaction to the second goal was totally on point. Even with a three goal lead, you don't just go to sleep, especially if the team you're playing against has Ronaldo on it.

I also am frustrated with the fact that Semedo never seemed to catch on to what Gosens was doing. One mistake. Ok two? Three? Of the same nature. Semedo never bothered to turn his head. Put five in the back. Danilo and Carvalho always chasing the play. Basically rendered useless when GER is on the attack. Five on four over and over again.

A lot of great play, but also inexcusable defensive lapses, on both sides. Not what you'd expect to see at this level. And in a Group of Death like this, you really have to make sure you don't make any stupid mistakes. Neuer's stunned disbelief reaction to the second goal was totally on point. Even with a three goal lead, you don't just go to sleep, especially if the team you're playing against has Ronaldo on it.
Whereas the status quo held firm in the games that took place a few days ago, today the theme seemed to be "anything goes", with Les Bleus being held to a draw by the Hungarians, and the German team suddenly playing like the Mannschaft of old. It will be interesting to see how things play out on Wednesday.
This game was good but my team lost so I hope portugal can learn from this and improve.

I also am frustrated with the fact that Semedo never seemed to catch on to what Gosens was doing. One mistake. Ok two? Three? Of the same nature. Semedo never bothered to turn his head. Put five in the back. Danilo and Carvalho always chasing the play. Basically rendered useless when GER is on the attack. Five on four over and over again.
