FIRST BLOOD (1982) vs COMMANDO (1985) | 80s Action Movie Tournament | Classic Clash Ep. 4

At the Film Fights podcast, Cousin Kyle, the Fob, and I are excited to announce what we believe to be a first of its kind 80s Action Movie Tournament pitting the best action movies against each other until we determine the greatest action movie of the 1980s.
We have sorted through various online greatest lists and determined the top 16 action movies from that decade.
In this fourth episode of Classic Clash, we compare two 80s action classics involving elite ex-military operatives, First Blood (1982) and Commando (1985). Up Until this point, the Film Fights Triumvirate has been splitting hairs to determine which movie will prevail. However, there is one very, and we mean VERY clear victor in this episode. Which one? I guess you'll just have to find out!
One reason we are super-exited for this tournament is that we actually haven’t seen most of these classic action films on this list. We want to take a fresh look at these 1980s with a Gen Z perspective and see which ones still hold up, which ones do not, and ultimately determine the greatest action movie of the 80s!

Bracket A is a classic “seeded” tournament [like you would see in college basketball]. Our crack staff spent hours correlating the rankings from multiple greatest lists, aggregating the rankings using a complex, multivariate process to pre-rank each movie. [This approach would “protect” highly ranked movies from facing off with each other early in the tournament.]
Bracket B is listed by Action Sub-genre. It matches up the best films from different action categories (like action-comedy, post-apocalyptic, and sci-fi action) and pits them against each other. In addition to finding the greatest action movie of the 80s, this approach would also help us determine the best movie in each action sub-genre.
