VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Jana jumped into life on the road by purchasing an ambulance on eBay. She flew up to Maryland to pick up the ambulance and got the true road life experience. Shortly after hitting the road, she broke down but was soon back up and running again. Since then, she has been off to the races with her conversion. In this video, she shares her insights to her DIY build as well as some very good information on traveling as a solo female.

  • Ambulance conversions have really been popular over the last year. I was looking to bid on one and it went for $9.6k! Are you considering one of these over a camper van?

  • I just lost my husband on July 4, 21. We were planning on traveling but he passed before we could go. I’m seriously thinking an ambulance is perfect for me to travel in by myself. Thank you for the inspiration! Maybe once everything calms down and finances are worked out I’d love to meet you. I can have my Kimbulance!😁

  • Wow there’s a full-size cookstove with an oven! So many tiny houses only have a small cooktop & no oven (or else they have a small microwave or convection oven)..this is impressive. She has made this ambulance tiny home very functional and cozy. Very creative build.

  • Hey, Jan! Great Work! FYI: What you have is NOT a former Ambulance. Although it was constructed by Wheeled Coach, an Ambulance manufacturer. The exterior white over red, (not pink,just sun bleached) paint job gives it away. What you have is an First or Second generation out-of-service American Red Cross ERV, or Emergency Response Vehicle. There's a way to determine which is which. If it runs on Gasoline, it's a First Generation. If it runs on Diesel, it's a Second Generation.You said there was a Chair at that window. That was a Service Window where one of the 2 Volunteer Drivers sat & dispensed Coffee or hot chocolate, or Lemonade or Iced Tea, depending the season. They either dispensed sandwiches, donuts or hot food to first responders and disaster victims, at either a local or National disaster.

    • That would explain the more open interior than I expected. And the lack of lots of medical inserts we usually see. Still pretty close though.

The thought of living in one full time has made me cringe...until now. This rig has a really great chill, homey vibe to it. Well done ! I’m off to follow on IG now :)

  • I absolutely love the shower. A shower would be a "must have" for me if I traveling/living in a ambulance, skoolie, or van build. I love how she used the resin to make the floor & walls for a shower. Great idea! And the colors used for it is really pretty. This build is one of the best I've seen so far.

  • I miss my hammock chair. It was hung on my back porch, I had a huge garden with chickens and everything. I lived next to the air force base. I'd be in the veggies & at 5pm they'd play the national anthem. I'd sit in my hammock at night, then at 9pm they'd play taps. I'd leave for work too early to catch revelry in the morning.

  • What a lovely ambulance home. Very nice job, Jana. At 16:56 - that little trick you used with rubber hose/ pipe cut to size to make a grommet for that shower tube hole is genius. I had to cut a grommet in my battery box which is right under a wheel well and it sprays rain water now inside the battery box. Could not find a matching grommet, but this is a really smart idea. Will try it. Thanks for sharing this small detail!

  • Lovely build and you are so cute! Some tips: 1. Shower pan is a must. Eventually it will leak and wood may rot out. Plastic or metal but please get one. 2. Loctite Rust Neutralizer from Lowes is a nice spray can to have for pesky rust spots. Spray on rust and it will bond to metal and stop rusting. 3. I would add a litter box door. Walmart sells DAMP RID small gel packs for cat litter room. 4. If you want nice curtain tracks try IKEA. Ceiling or wall mount. Shirring tape and drapery pins also at IKEA. Very smart to use an ambulance. Best vehicle there is. You did a fantastic job inside - very functional, full bath, kitchen, bed, very well done! I have some questions: What mpg does this van give you? Was it easy to unhook existing metal cabinets from the wall?

    @lass-inangeles7564@lass-inangeles75643 жыл бұрын
    • Hi! Does Loctite Rust Neutralizer work on vehicles? Have an old truck! Thanks for the tips!

      @galadethlaernis6266@galadethlaernis62663 жыл бұрын
    • @@galadethlaernis6266 Sure, it works with everything, except BBQs where it will just burn off and high heat paint is needed, With cars you have to remove all the rust with an angle grinder and wire brush cup or rotary Dremel tool and tiny wire brush. Then spray this or dab it on from a can. If you want to paint the whole truck, use bedliner paint (in any color you want) like Durabak and a roller brush, no need to spray it. There is a KZhead video on this too. Comes out beautifully and is very durable. Don't expect a high gloss finish, just a satin sheen.

  • I purchased an ambulance a year ago and I am starting the building plan to get all systems packed into it that I want as I plan to also be in cold climates, as well as, warmer climates. I took a few trips in it this past year and am learning the drive terrain (computer operated) along with what I want to be in the campulance. I plan to keep it as a stealth RV, but I did remove the AMBULANCE labeling and named my rig BULA. So, if you see me on the road, please give me a holler; I enjoy meeting people and sharing traveling experiences. When you mention the fact that you stalled but ended up having everything you needed to get going again, it's funny how things just work out on the road. Just have to relax and, instead of sensationalizing the issues, we just calmly assess the issue and go for it head on. Keeping a clear head tends to make it possible to more quickly find solutions and implement them. Good luck on your journey!

  • I have to say I have a bus if I would have seen this ambulance layout prior to buying my bus I would've got an ambulance and converted it. My bus came already converted but if I decide to get rid of it and get an ambulance I'm going to steal your ideas I love it it's just what I'm looking for. Stay safe stay strong stay healthy god bless and enjoy life✌❤💪👨‍🍳🎅🚌🌈
