He was a metallurgical engineer and they did a lot of testing on the skin of the aircraft and the stories about the testing of the engines were hilarious. Were you part of the group of kids who got to go up not too long after the unveiling? He passed on some years ago, as did the guys who I grew up knowing who worked on projects like the Saturn 5 and the moon lander (another family member actually got to work with Werner Von Braun, his stories from Huntsville and Houston were incredible...), but I'm sure you probably remember the pride with which they did their work.

He is now retired and owns several small planes of his own. He hates flying commercial 🤣 because if he is not in control of the plane, he doesn't trust it! This is where our family history kind of sucks, my aunts father was one of the pilots involved in our nation's most deadliest airplane accident ever.😢

  • I’m a first time viewer. I’ve been flying for 60 years-maybe twice a year-all over the world. Sometimes I’ve been more wealthy, sometimes I’ve been less wealthy. I’ve never flown first class. The experience depicted on this video is vastly different from nearly everyone else’s in the world. It’s frankly fascinating. The flight you took, if I had done it in “cattle class” would have included uncomfortable if you could find any, seats in boring, unpleasant waiting areas with nothing to eat except expensive junk, chaotic boarding of passengers, indifferent trending to scornful flight attendants “serving” dry cruddy food and collecting the trays back as quickly as they can. I still travel, but as I age the strain of non-first class flying is an increasing factor in my decision making. Maybe it’s time.

I flew both the B747-400 and A340-200/300/600 and, in my opinion, the much heavier 747 handles turbulence better. Overall, I prefer the simpler, smarter, newer Airbus design. From moderate turbulence on, even the cabin crew has to take their seats and service is interrupted. Keep your great work up!

On some occasions I was seated in the upstairs area, which was like flying in a private plane with a dedicated attendant. Other times was seated downstairs (in front of the pilot). Can't be compared in any way to how First Class is now, but for that period of time it was pretty special.

  • Seats in the back rows do tend to shrink down the row sizes, to accommodate the tapering of the fuselage, but it’s better to sit the row BEHIND the first one, as the IFE screens in the back of the wider row in front will be off center in the middle of your armrest! Lufthansa A340 from Frankfurt to JFK, most of economy is 2-4-2, but the last 5 or so rows drop to 2-3-2, since 3 of us were flying, we opted not to have to share that extra seat (though we have been lucky before where the adjacent seats are empty, this flight was completely full.)

  • I love this channel. So many channels that do travel reviews come across as entitled or nitpicky but this channel is always so positive with fair critiques. You can really tell they love to travel and don’t take it for granted. I’ve noticed that often times, the crews are described as good to excellent and I think part of that as they make the videos they are also kind and respectful customers. In every aspect of life, I believe you get what you give so even though it’s someone’s job in customer service to take care of you, you will have an infinitely better experience if you are nice and polite with them. As for why US pilots have the seatbelt sign on more, I’m pretty sure it’s because of so many incidents with sudden rough air. The FAA even requires the announcement be made to suggest you wear your seatbelt even if the sign isn’t on just in case. It’s a way so that if someone does get injured, they can say the sign was on but they chose not to abide by it.

    @danielvital6836@danielvital68369 ай бұрын
    • Agree with your comments on Jeb's channel. I voluntarily always wear my belt (loosened a bit for comfort when the sign is off). Sure, the odds of encountering severe clear-air-turbulence are extremely rare, but I'll take a belt over my lap that I don't even feel than a remote chance of bonking my head into the overhead and injuring myself. I'm 6'4 so I have even less head distance to travel.

  • Loved this review! Pilots in Europe/any non-US airline are less prone to turn on the seatbelt signs, because everyone else (non-US) is less litigious. I've noticed that over many years - particularly flying UA a few months back - that as soon as there was a single bump, the seatbelt sign went on, and for aaaaages... Pilots for other airlines/nationalities have a more pragmatic view I think. A bump here and there - it's expected, so why stop people from being able to go to the bathroom (for example ... not a real life situation ... or was it...... Ha!)
