► ABOUT ME:
Hi! I’m Aly, I'm from London, and I've been teaching English for more than 10 years. I love teaching English and helping YOU study English better and in a more fun way! I made this channel to help me apply for jobs, but now this IS my job, and here I am... happy as can be, with you lovely people! :) Let me know in the comments what you'd like to see in future videos!
#LearnEnglish #StudyEnglish #PapaTeachMe
In the "I'm not loving it" case, that "to love" feels like "to enjoy". Maybe the situation can be explained this way, too.
Good 😄
Yeah it makes sense
I think your can also say " I'm not liking this"
@@reneperez2126 but "like" is also a stative verb, no? so you need to explain that too
I'm an English teacher and... I'm loving this video! I'll show it to my students :)
✌️😁
I’d love to show it to my students but because of the word “poop” I won’t
@@justateacher7527 Oh, no! Not the word "poop"! How would your students ever recover! 😱
@@TomRNZ 🤣🤣🤣
That’s the reason why I show this video to mine :)
I love the way you clear the concepts in a very easy manner and I'm totally loving it
If there were any special awards for the best KZhead English teachers You would definitely get one. Especially in the "always surprising and never dissapointing content" category. Just WOWing every single time
As a C2 I keep coming to your videos because you always have something new to teach me, or remind me of basic lessons that I probably forgot about, so I'm thanking you for that 🌻
Im glad !! Hope I can keep helping! ✌️
Wow! Thanks! This class was all that I needed!❤️
I always knew "however" was the main rule in English.
In spanish, we make a difference between transitory "be" and a permanent "be" ("ser" or "estar")
Ok, you said Spanish, but "ser" and "estar" are portuguese words...
@@cerominho Both are mutually intelligible.
Your work is amazing! Thank you for teaching us in such a fun way! :)
Cheers juli! ✌️😁
Aly, not only have I been teaching English for 10 years, but I'm also your massive fan:) I never miss your videos so that I teach natural English!;)
That's a very helpful lesson. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 👍
I´m really loving the way you teach everyone
I am loving your classes
Are we going to get 'Love is just a stative verb' released on Spotify?
Awesome, I've been teaching English with Grammar in Focus for over 25 years, but it has never been so easy to explain the usage of Stative Verbs and the situations in which it is natural to use some stative verbs in continuous form
Your teaching has always been second to none! A thumbs-up for this wonderful video.
This guy! ✌️ thanks bud
I just found this channel and I am loving it!!!
"I'm not understanding anything today!" it's the kind of phrase I would never, not in a million years say to our beloved teacher Aly. Because he makes from every single video the most amazing and funny classes.
I love your classes Aly!!!! Actually, I'm loving this video!!!!😄👍🇦🇷
Very helpful!!! Thank you :)
Wow, thanks for the explaining👍 I love all of your lessons❤️
The lessons love you too!
Thank you so much for your help!
I love this one. Been using some without even realizing it. XD Though some of these sound kinda weird, so I won't use every single one I've discovered in this video. Still thank you, it was a great explanation ^-^
I'd been wanting a video on this subject.
noted. great lesson !!!!
I often refer to this specific song when explaining the continuous/progressive tense. I was quite surprised to see this video today!
Right!?
That's bloody nice explanation
You’re amazing! Thanks
I love you in that you chose poop out of all the other innumerable verbs😊
I'm loving your videos!)
✌️😁
I stumbled across this as a native speaker and found it fascinating. It's one of those things I'd never thought about. The stative verb you can use with -ing which first sprang to my mind when you started to explain was 'to think'. 'What are you thinking about?' or 'I'm was just thinking'.
I like the way he teaches. Special thanks
Love You Papa !! Great Teacher 😘💕 I was having some meals --
Great, thanks
I think it's obvious why mcdees uses quote I'm loving it." they're using it because it's just off enough that people are going to remember it. The typical person probably isn't going to get that" I'm loving it"is not really correct English, but it WILL stay in their in their minds because it sounds kind of odd. And don't forget that we can use HAVE in the continuous form when we talk about having a good time because that's an activity verb.
you are being totally understood, dude!
Thank you for this wonderful usefull lesson
This video reminds me of an iconic line from my high school English teacher. Her: Don't you ever use the word "start" in the continuous form. Me: watching videos when real English people use "start" in the continuous form. Confusion intensifies. I'm so glad that you show the real and more natural side of English. Few teachers go beyond textbook rules. Splendid job and video ❤️
Absolutely useful!!🙂🌻thak you Ali , you re always clear in your lesson😉
Have a great day Paola! 🤟🤓
@@papateachme and you😉

Hi Ally, please prepare IELTS videos. It can help people to pass this difficult exam.Thank you in advance
I definitely like your drawings
1:15 "Yeeeeah, I know"😅 His thoughts: * I'm liking to pronounce it *
Ali, you are really 100%super genius English teacher!
Cheers maya! You’re a legend! Hope your day is going great!
Thank you for this lesson. ❣️ Could I ask you a question ? I can't help (doing ) and I can't help but ( do) . What is the difference between them ?? I am hating these two phrases. They really confuse me a lot.
Well done
Hi Aly! Excellent vid, as usual. Is it OK to say I'm having a splitting headache? Cheers! Regards from Argentina.
yes, the issue with have + an illness is still uncovered
As I'm typing this comment, I'm remebering what you explained and I'm understanding better how to use stative verbs in a continuous tense. One word for this video...Superb!
Amazing examples duuuuude!👏
I still remember how I asked my English teacher: "Are you seeing the presentation?" I thought it was actually okay (?) to say something like that... Like: "Can you see it right now?" Needless to say that she screamed at me 🤡 (yeah, grammar isn't my thing, so sorry if there are any mistakes 😬)
That is absolutely ok to say 😂 we say it like that all the time
@@papateachme Oh, so I was right! Thank you for your answer! This question has been bothering me since 2021 :')
great video
Hi. Thanks a lot ! great. I'm from France and I heard you say " you compare it to other moments WHERE you didn't feel like..." I've always learnt that we must say ..."expression of time" WHEN,. So what's the rule? Thank you so much for your explanations and videos.
Wow.❤️...I m loving your lectures sir..❤️❤️Love and huge respect from India 🙏🙏
@@lanaefremova3443 Thanks a lot for correcting me ma'am 🙏 but I wanted to consider all his lectures😀
I'm an English teacher and I know what you're trying to get across. But at school I have to teach very formal outdated English
Stative verbs as present participles appear in other circumstances, too. Such as gerunds, adjectival phrases, absolute phrases, and resultative states. What a nightmare this topic is.
English is evolving and it's 'right', but not when I started teaching English 33 years ago.
For the McDonald's example, does that mean I usually don't love it, but right now "I'm lovin' it"?
I was in a chat room a few years ago and used a stative verb in the present continuous. Don't remember which now. Anyway an ESL person wrote me "you can't use that verb like that". I explained you do if you want to sound fluent. He wasn't having it. He was one of those annoying chatters that often caused a bit of strife. Oh well, go on sounding like a stiff text book if that's your goal sir.
thanks dude I am totally understanding what's being stupid 😍🤩
I really liked to know about the verb "understand" about the possibility to use It in a stative way, cause in portuguese we use this verb in continuous form refering to something that is happening at the moment. And when I have to use It in a simple tense, It doesnt make Sense for me... I don't know If you understand my point....
I'm dying to watch "PONNIYIN SELVAN" movie.
Thanks for the crystal clear interpretation. You're being a good teacher. 👍
Nice explanation. But how is it with the 'im loving it' ? That means they were loving it that particular moment? And in generał they hate it? 😅
What about Perfect Continuous Tenses? Does the meaning change? For example: I’ve been wanting to talk to you. She’s been loving her new job How’s school? Have you been understanding everything well? Can I say it?
I'm loving you 😅
Other examples of how broken English is nowadays. 1. Using 'more' for short adjectives in comparative sentences: This is more cheap than that. 2. Using 'there's' for plural nouns: There's beers in the fridge. 3. Using flipped grammar in some conditional sentences: If you would have known... 4. Using 'no' to ask tag questions: You live in California, no? 5. Not using adverbs of manner: I didn't say that correct.
great job
Thanks!
I am hating you right now (being a non - native English teacher) - but generally speaking I don`t hate you !!!
Aly...el verbo WAIT is considered a Stative or an Action one? Pleeeeaaase ayuda por favor ...
Hi Ali! What about "Enjoy", looks stative to me. When I speak in general about let's say "pizza with olives" I would say: I've enjoyed it since childhood. But if we imagine I'm eating this pizza now and say to my friend sitting next to me: "I've been enjoying it since childhood" Is it correct?
I have a problem or a disease or a fight.....is have here a stative or action verb?
I've heard many times: "Are you being serious right now?" Is it correct?
"I'm having a dog" - "Oh, who's the father?"
Nice
0:24 Now I'm confused... you are my English teacher...
Hello Aly, I've always wanted to ask about this; There is a wonderful song that I guess you also know, named "Under pressure" by Queen. In lyrics I see this sentence "Sat on a fence but it don't work" it don't work, is it because of the melody and maybe rhythm of the song? Or in daily life sometimes people say "he/she/it don't"?
Great question! ✌️😁 songs usually don’t use correct grammar either because it sounds better than way or it rhymes better or it feels better to match the feeling of the song
@@papateachme Thanks for great answer!✌️😁
What about "Every day I'm shuffling" ? ^_^
Hello Mr. Williams😍🌹🤎, I was waiting for a new video from you. Every time I think what the new topic will be and every time you surprise me with an interesting topic. I 'm an independent student and I practice English every day, both pronunciation and grammar and vocabulary. Do you have any teacher advice for me?🙃
How do you currently practice?
@@papateachme I watch all your and Mr. AJ Hogg's videos and also listen to English podcasts with a British accent and memorize and copy the sentences. I have been studying English for about three years, so I can write, read and speak at an intermediate level
@@papateachme Also, I always have a notebook and a pen with me when watching movies and series and even English Tik Tok videos, and I write down my appropriate sentences.
That’s amazing! ✌️😁 keep it up! Find people to practice with, if you can’t. Listen to English podcasts and conversations. Listening helps you passively learn speaking skills!’
@@papateachme It's wonderful to hear such a thing from a good teacher like you,🙈💜 thank you very much, I'll definitely try harder. I hope you had a great day.🌹🌹🤎
It's just a marketing thing. It's special so it's catchy. Slogans have to be special. If it was I LOVE IT.. it won't be so unique.. that's it ! Also I'm loving it isn't grammatically incorrect. I'm making 200 dollars an hour and I'm loving it. ( Just an example)
A nice blue denim shirt you're wearing! I get distracted 🤤 No, I'm not being stupid or silly but honestly it fits you perfectly! I'm loving it and I'm wanting to have one now! 😇
You explained everything to me very clearly. Is English your mother tongue? You sound ausome. But I'm not confident enough to watch videos without subtitles. And when you drew two wemen wich one was with her tongue out, I thout that they would be gossiping 😅. Sorry if I expressed my thoughts unnaturally. There's a lot I need to learn.
Dear Aly, could you tell us what the difference between offer, suggest and propose?
It's a nonbrainer. If smb offers , this person will do it. ( I offered to help him). To suggest means to give an idea to smb ( I suggest buying him a car). To propose is the same as suggest , but it's formal English. ( the speaker proposed to finish the meeting)
@@user-sm3tk2qm3o thanks a lot!
Hello papa
I have a shower (in my flat) vs I am having a shower (I'm bathing). Got it.
Nice!!! 🤟
Hey dude i am your first viewer from Nepal
"I do having love on it". Not sound bad, right?
Some English teachers who have seen this video have been hating it; that's not about politeness but about context problems
No one cares what they think tho ✌️
What if my mate shows me his new motorbike, and I'm utterly impressed, Can I say, 'Wow, what are you having here?'
Tell me what you're needing.
Isn't there a story how people started using phrases like "I'm loving it", "I'm hating it" etc because of McDonalds? Like their song popularized the use of it?
Could be!
@@papateachme @Learn English with Papa Teach Me Thank you for the video. So, what is your verdict on McDonald’s I'm Loving It? Is it an emphasis or a comparison?
@@inbcetc3569 I think they do it intentionally to get the attention of people .
Nice )
I moved to another country and I've been asked "how are you liking the country?" I'm not sure if this is correct 🥶
Muchas gracias. Gracias a usted entendí la diferencia.
"I'm not loving this" actually means "I'm not enjoying it".
You win because you are 100%? Wow!
Useful. I am wanting a pizza. Interesting.
I am really loving my own EX🤭 I understand whatever you teach us, but I am not understanding anything right now, coz I've been thinking about my own Ex- girlfriend 😊
