  • GEN 5 or 6 tall deck block, that has side motor mount bosses, a standard mechanical fuel pump provision, and will accept a swivel ball for earlier clutch linkage. That will permit installation into just about any Chevrolet car built from the last 60 years. Perfect.

    @rollydoucet8909@rollydoucet8909 Жыл бұрын
    • It's the bowtie sportsman tall deck block, engine height is going to be the only problem in a muscle car, and the needed header size to make the power. This engine is tall, with a descent air cleaner, it would be above the middle of the windshield on a 1967 Chevelle.

  • OMG, what a SICK crate motor!!! I am 67 and in 1975 i built a 67 Yenko clone Camaro which was a 427/425 with 456 gears and a 4 speed, now considered 'old school' easily destroyed 390 AMX'S, Boss 351 Mustangs, etc. Imagine a 1st generation Camaro with even 650 hp would EASILY be a mid 11 or lower car with good traction. Funny my 427/425 came from a 68 SS Impala

    @zxtenn@zxtenn Жыл бұрын
    • That 427 425 was in a 68 Impala from Delaware. The car was called Fools Gold and ran in Stock Eliminator B/S. Stick shift. Saw it run at Cecil County. Read about it later and the guy bought it new from Porter Chevrolet.

    • I'm 79 and in '69 I swapped a 435 h.p. 427 out of a '69 Corvette into my new ( eight months old ) '69 Z-28 ,4-speed with 4:56 posi. Ran 6:00 ×15 tires on 5 inch Cragers on the front and 12inch wide indy tires on Crager 10 inch rims on the rear on the street. Never lost a street race.

    @carolnelson9269@carolnelson9269 Жыл бұрын
    • Shows how little people know about dyno numbers and how they can be doctored. Not saying Kaase isn't doing it, but we can make a stock 350 make 1,000 hp on a dyno depending on what we do to the data. And small engine builders are constrained by a bunch of accountants trying to hold on to every cent. Left to their devices, Chevy would have been spun off by congress decades ago because Chevrolet was so succesful, they were on the edge of being considered a monopoly. Manufacturers are scrutinized by the SAE on their dyno numbers. They have to be infinitely repeatable under controlled circumstances. Also, this engine is just a starting point. The SR71 heads are just about maxed out. There's easily another 100 hp in this motor, but GM has to build an engine with a 2 yr 50,000 miles warranty. In 40 years of building and restoring old Corvettes and big block Chevys and seeing first hand how they stack up against other manufacturers, Chevy engines will always be thr equal or better of any other engine, and do it cheqper, everything being equal. Sounds like we need a dyno battle.

      @bigblocklawyer@bigblocklawyer Жыл бұрын
    • @@RT10Viperman Yeah. I was talking about making the power numbers on a dyno. Having the guy who builds your engine dyno it is generally a bad idea. They're not in business to over promise and under deliver. What's funny is how many "450" horse air dyno motors we've dynoed that made 370.

Add a fully tuned multiport terminator x EFI with crank triggered coil near plug ignition and the other things the GM comes with. There is a ton to be said for a engine you can take out of the box hook up power and a fuel line and know you have 1khp. Not to mention that if something goes wrong you can roll into any GM dealer in the North America and get it fixed.
