  • This is a trailer well done. Not a single shot from beyond roughly the hour mark. None of the "Let's slip in a shot from the climax and spoil the movie in the trailer" bullshit. Thank you to whoever cut this, we appreciate it.

Now they just have to say "From Christopher Nolan" Watch the trailer for Dunkirk. They didn't have to remind you of his success story. His name officially became brandname after Interstellar.

    • MovieTalk 1863 The Martian has nothing on Interstellar. I love space movies, but The Martian was not a great movie, in my opinion, never even made me feel as if Matt Damond was ever in any danger or gave that sense of loneliness as something like that movie with Tom Hanks in that deserted island in Castaway, instead in The Martian Damon's characters acted as if he was just 1 hour away from Earth and as if he knew someone was eventually gonna come save him, almost felt comical, don't even know why it was nominated for an Oscar. Also, the music in The Martian was terrible, I remember all of a sudden they decided to put a fcking country song some pop song, instead of some dark desolated ambient music, totally ruined the mood.

  • Almost 6 years ago, when I was 10 years old I watched this movie for the first time all the way through. My small brain was wowed by the movie and for years if someone asked me what my favorite movie was: it was Interstellar. Today I decided to sit down and rewatch this movie because I remembered how good I thought it was. After rewatching it at 15, wow is all I can say. This movie blew me away at 10 and continues to blow me away almost 6 years later. That's how you know its a classic for generations to come.

    @christiankongjini7401@christiankongjini74013 жыл бұрын
    • All of Nolan's work is solid. I think the only movie I haven't seen that he directed is Insomnia (w. Robin Williams & Al Pachino). It's also the only film he directed that wasn't penned by him (or his brother). Nolan is a brilliant storyteller. and Zimmer knows how to trademark a movie with sound. Just a few notes of any of the main themes of the films he's worked on and you can likely name the film. The two are certainly a powerhouse, but either are formidable even without the other.

  • I swear, I had skyscraper-sized expectations for this sci-fi epic, and Nolan shattered my tiny little building with his intergalactic delivery. Wow, seriously, what a film. Will go down as a classic years from now. This and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya were tied as my #1 flicks of 2014.

    @Narumisan02@Narumisan029 жыл бұрын
    • Kaguya is a whole different ballpark of movie. I saw that...last year? or 2018, during GhibliFest. Mind you, I don't buy the 'season pass'. Interestellar may actually be my favorite movie of all time. And I've always been explicitly against labeling any movie as "my #1 favorite" due to the fact that every movie does something different and aren't meant to be compared against one another more often than not. (within genre, sure. but horror and romance have two very different goals)

As a father of a 6 year old boy and a 12 year old daughter, I instantly connected with this story and the love that a father has for his kids. The sacrifice of leaving them for the chance of giving them a better life, I would do it in a heart beat. • One of the most beautiful movies I’ve seen. I’m a hardcore horror movie fan, don’t really watch anything else, but we were playing the theme from this movie at a concert, and my science teacher recommended it to me, so I decided to watch it (mainly because I thought the music was amazing), and not expecting much, immediately got on my phone instead. But the few times I actually looked at the tv for the first quarter, I was really drawn to it. So, I put my phone down and watched it. And I’m so glad I did. The emotion, the music, and just the way they replicate the beauty of space is just incredible, it brought tears to my eyes. After watching it I went outside to look at the stars. The clouds had cleared from the recent snowstorm so you could see everything, and it was just amazing. It opened my eyes and made looking up at the sky so much more beautiful. It truly awakened the space nerd in me that I left behind in 6th grade. It leaves me with many questions, though. What really is in the universe? What is beyond it? Is there more, or just… nothing?

I loved the plot and how they blended science and the plot together better than any other movie given the subject (interstellar travel, time, relativity, etc), and I honestly would put Anne Hathaway up for some kind of Oscar for her part. And yes, we as a species need to become a space-faring species not for adventure or exploration but as Carl Sagan said, "for the most practical reason imaginable - staying alive."

  • First time I watched it, I was at my Aunt and Uncle's house. They have 6 kids that go to bed really early, so we had to keep the volume down. They had a crappy TV. I didn't know it was by Christopher Nolan, so I didn't care as much for it. I made myself fall asleep so I could go home and watch it another time. Second time I watched it, I had a lot on my mind and couldn't follow the movie very well. It was a nice TV though. It was a 55 inch 1080p. It is a really long movie and I didn't feel like watching it. Third time I watched it, was on our new 65 inch 4k TV. I was able to buckle down and prepare for the movie. I was blown awake by how amazing Mathew Mcconaughey was and how good it looked. We stopped a little over half way and got some Pie and now it is one of my favorite movies ever made. A true masterpiece.

  • I use to watch movie trailers religiously back in the early 2010 on the apple trailer website. I remember coming across a thumbnail that said “Interstellar” and I was huuuuge into space at the time but still wasn’t sure if it was about space or not. There was no plot or anything about it next to the thumbnail. I clicked it and the first part of the trailer I remember being bummed thinking oh it’s a era movie about the dust bowl, then finally towards the end “perhaps we’re still pioneers” then the airplane then space shuttle clips I remember being filled with excitement. After watching that trailer I was literally obsessed with this movie till this day. Like I can’t stress enough how overly obsessed I was. I watched every trailer the second it came out and watched them about 1000 times. This movie was an era of my life.

Also I wanted to say we need to wake as a generation and realize we are capable of interstellar travel. All the war and genocide and rich and poor will come to nothing if we do not think beyond our planet. We are so capable and we act like our planet is just going to be around forever. Let me tell you if we do not end our existence as a species than the earth will. Someday not us but a people like us will experience a massive change in earth's gravity or environment. This simple yet profound change will make this planet uninhabitable for humans. I just hope we are prepared for that day and haven't forgotten about space exploration.

    • Unfortunately for your dreams interstellar space travel *isn't* going to happen, barring friendly aliens (or divine intervention.) Google "Olduvai Theory" for what probably IS going to happen (and I must say, the declining civilization depicted at the beginning of this film is probably not too far from what the early stages of the "Olduvai Cliff Drop" will look like.)

      @pjamese3@pjamese38 жыл бұрын
    • I know this is 4 years old but for clarification to anyone passing by, interstellar travel is not possible within a human's lifespan. It would take tens of thousands of years to reach Alpha Centauri on the fastest vehicle we could create. Wormhole travel was also disproved recently by a Harvard published paper. Apparently the process would both kill you and actually take longer than simply going from points A to B directly. Furthermore, you would need the energy of an entire star to create one. The only means of travel currently are self sustaining vessels, and even that is unlikely, occupied by multiple generations of humans.
