Anyone have a good name idea for this boat? I was thinking THE BASS DUMPSTER or?
The Bad Bass Dumbster!!
The scourge 😆
Yeah. “M-eye-N”
Rustic
the Chrysler crisis !
You are the best all-around mechanic I've ever seen. And you actually fix things instead of "pretending you didn't see it"
I tell ya man, life happens, and I think a lot of the people that watch these videos would love to do what you do, but we also come to these videos for peace and relaxation, you are doing us all a service, and we appreciate it.
Screw all the haters, you are having as much fun on the water as the guys with a 100k boat.. well done sir!
Well said. Yeah screw them! Lol. This thing is way more fun than $100k boat. Even if I was a millionaire I would still take the bass dumpster out cruising.
It’s nice to see this brand of work ethic in younger people. 👍🏻
It’s only more fun for those who can’t afford a nice boat. Good try loser!
Man, you saved that from its grave. It gave someone a lot of pleasure back in the day, and now it has a new life and is giving pleasure again. It was going to end up busted up in a landfill, and I think it clearly deserved to live again.
You know I really like your videos but I got to say I'm really jealous of your bins of bolts and extra parts and racks of material! Nice
Easy fix? Not everyone is a mechanical master like you. I'm glad your enjoying the fruits of your labor
people that are saying the stringers are bad clearly dont know glassstreams they are soild boats we call them water logs around here because the wont sink! lol great video man keep doing what your doing that's why you get the good views on stuff!!
Yeah that's for sure! Unbelievable how strong this boat is. I push her even harder in the part 3 video I'm working on. And thanks! Greatly appreciate your support
Awesome vid ! Chrysler had a significant marine history … boats and motors way ahead of their time. Boats from Plano, Texas and motors from Hartford, Ct and Barrie Ontario. I had numerous Chrysler boats with 105, 120 and 135 outboards. Bullet proof.
Man I've got to tell ya, you've done a heck of a job bringing that boat back to life!
Nothing compares to fixing something with your knowledge and skills. Definitely surpasses just buying a boat with a credit card. You have feel the pain to enjoy it.
I have a old boat project that's been sitting around for over 2 years. You just inspired me to get my butt in gear and get it done. Thank you for that! Awesome video.
That's great to hear! Good luck on the project and thanks
I had a boat 25 years ago, of similar quality. Of all my friends it still holds the record of being the only boat that got launched NOT running, and was towed to our party spot, with a 1/2 keg of beer…
You simply amaze me I don’t know what else to say keep up the good work
You are just as much of a “Beast” as Camareta, Never a dull moment!
Rocking a little motor city madman on the river bank...🤘
This is captain Stavros from Panama city Florida really enjoyed these two videos on the boat. I think this winter I will try and restore a small Jon boat bye 4 now.
Memories. Back when I was alive I had a '67 Glaspar with a '76 Chrysler 75hp. It was a 3 cyl but very similar to what you have there, and I did a lot of the same maintenance that you did. Super dependable and so many great memories. Good luck with your.
Thumbs up 👍 ready for part 3, 4, 5 how far can you go 😂 I’m excited to see the progress 😊
Keep Doing what you are doing Chris!
Amazing project bro and what a casual surprise we 're drinking the same brew haha
That guy running the superjet up the sand killed me
Just love the way you “FINESSE” your repairs dude 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴no nonsense👍🏻
That things got years left on her! Love it
Great job restoring that boat, especially getting that motor to run like you did! I think your next step on the boat needs to be an awesome sound system with Bluetooth connection. Think about it, a old looking boat goes by the dock with an awesome loud sound system! Add some running lights to it also for night. Plus you would get more out of the boat when you sell it.
Great idea on a loud sound system! Would be fun to roll up to the sandbar with some raging tunes.
That original pump impellor was only fit for the bin ... You must have struck unbelievably lucky to get the engine cooling feed pipe into the pump first go .
as the owner of a mid 80s glasstream and standup ski, i fully approve.
Good to see you rehabbed the boat. Between a 26'CC, a 17' CC and a 15' tiller, and like you I enjoy the 15' twice as much as the other two combined. Lift the tongue, walk it a foot to the ball, simple to pull, launch/load easy, 3-4 minutes with the hose, 2 minutes with the muffs, it's done and ready for the next splash. That outboard, I wouldn't take $1500 for it as is. I may be wrong, you've surely checked with the fb page members, but that's my thoughts. Enjoy!!
Out on The Delaware! You have no choice but to love The Doors!
"I got gear oil coming out of that, what's up with that?" Throws it back together.
Bro thank you for your inspiration to go out and enjoy life. I so needed that. Awesome video.
You are the king of cool old stuff! Coolest thing you do is get stuff running like this! Keep up the good work dude.
I can remember seeing boats like that and with that cool paint scheme new.
Pick up a 77 tri hull , did lower end seals carbs and fiber glass , work to trailer. Rode her on the water many a time lots of fun .Great boat always enjoy a challenge keep them videos coming
i love this. im doing the same thing with a 16' venture with a 100hp mariner boat, motor, trailer i bought for $200 that was being used as a trash-can. engine fired right up and runs great, just doing carpet now
I am 14 years old and they’re is a boat with no engine in my woods and the people who own it I am going to ask if I can buy it for 20 dollars and completely fix it up
100hp Mariner is a early model Mercury Tower Of Power awesome engines we a boat with the same engine she gives my Mercury 150hp Tower Of Power a run for it's money
@@michaelturnage7475 that’s awesome, my grandpa has a Boston whaler that has been sitting for 18 years and we are repowering it with a Honda four stroke this summer
Part 1: kzhead.info/sun/dLt_nN56bYd_da8/bejne.html
old school chrysler motor on a glass stream, ohh the memories im soo glad your giving it new life, well done sir! one thing ill point out is never spray clear coat on gel coat, it will never last and will peel within a year, makes it much harder too fix than just buffing and polishing the gel coat, theres also alot of products out there that will bring the shine back you just have to apply it every few months.
We redid teh gel coat on our old Monark in like 1984 and it came out nice, I was 14 then but I remember it being easy. Made aa huge difference on the original blue.
Did the same to a 95 procraft, hung a restored 2.5 Merc 200 effect, hours of sanding and polish. Looks and runs out at 75mph. CHRYSLERS were never performance engines, however good simple dependable motor, Brother had a 120. Enjoyed video!!
Weigh the boat, compare it to the rated max weight, I think you'll have a good laugh. I just cut one up, the rear section foam was soaked and alone exceeded the max claimed weight of the entire boat. Love your videos.
Chrysler motors were good in there time, they went to Force. My first boat had a monster 130 Chrysler on it run up bout 55mph. The ignition packs went out and the cdi, boat mechanics said get rid of it, it was obsolete. Put an 85 Evinrude on her ran it 20 yrs til I got a newer boat Larson Delta Conic with a Volvo Penta inboard, 4.3L V6 , counter rotating props, total bad ass! Good luck with that old beast!
I really dig this thing bro, definitely do a part 3, this thing is knarley, and I was dying when you threw the ski on there! 👍👍😎
Working on part three. It's got a three-wheeler sitting on it now. Lol
Still waiting for the third one broski!!! When I seen the wheeler I had to laugh again! got me on the edge of my seat seeing what you're gonna cook up again for it lmao. 😁🤣👍
Back in the day, those were all over Georgia. I spent a lot of hours in a Glasstream.
Those old Chrysler’s are GOLD
I agree! It seems like people either love them or hate them.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow I’ve sunk one twice over a 25 year period, and it’s still running strong.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow The ones who hate them are fools. They are strong motors. I own several and they are easy to work on and run well. Use Amsoil for your pre mix oil and use NGK spark plugs.
Gotta live those old Chrysler motors. 😁👍
Pretty sure you are my hero at this point. Great work!
your bolt & nut collection=life goals! my buddy has a boat super similar so cool no Chrysler tho
That astro turf made a huge difference! Looks good
Sweet ride!
Bass dumpster is a cool name sick boat. Definitely I like it just the way it is.👍👍
Great Video. Really enjoyed it. Love the flooring idea!
Thanks And I appreciate the feedback!
Ol boat is looking pretty good we have a Mark Twain speed boat my parents have a StarCraft and I just picked up a Rinker 182 Mint condition interior is like new
Great video! I don't own a boat but found this interesting.
hi. folks are always going to tell others how to get the job done while doing nothing them self's Monday morning quarter backs ,great job keep the video's coming love your content I'm going to start looking around for a project thanks
Great videos, reminds me of the day back in 73 I bought a Fiberform and rebuilt like you did. Lasted me and family over 20 years. Enjoy it like it is, Glaspar made solid boats. Take up bass fishing, you are equipped. Part three, gel coat and it will be choice.
i was a lucky on back in 1974 my Dad said no motorcycles in my house so he loaned me 900 bucks and i bought a boston wailer 13 ft fun for the next 7years untill i bought a Glastron
Awesome job man love it. Am looking for a find like this
Awesome job man, great boat to have for some fun and fishin!
And I would love to see the part 3 results you were talking about👌
That was a super fun and informational! I just learned a little bit about boats!!! Ty
Awesome to hear you found some info throughout the video and enjoyed it. Thank you for your feedback!
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Can’t stop watching your channel now lol!!! You put in some serious work!!! Nicely done 🤘
Loving it! You’re inspiring me to get on mine. Great video.
Heck yeah man get tearing in to it! Boating seasons here.
What a nice project, i love it 🇩🇰
I remember buying a lowrance x16 paper graph just like that one in late 80s. That was top quality back then.
Needs to go to a museum now!
Enjoyed the video. Great work. Looks like a firestone / tires plus store. Lol. Sealed the deal when I saw the ps850.
I was waiting for this...I actually like it a lot. It's got that Mustie1 back from the dead feel, she's fast and looks totally safe. You're not some meathead putting other boaters/FRs at risk. Have fun my dude.
He said in the last vid it had a bad transom
A lot of hardwork but its worth it super cool speed boat i like it
This guy is clever, I need his skills, very knowledgable
Those glass Stream are really good Hulls
Love these videos
New to your channel but I hooked. Who says you need top shelf
Yes do part 3 :)
Sweet! Another cool vid, Brother. And like several others have said.... I was waiting on this one to come out as well. I LOVE this project. So much fun! One of these days, I am going to find something like this, and rock it out. Would be a lot of fun. Anyway - really fun vid. Keep this stuff coming!
Thanks man! And will do.
👍👌👏 It's great to have things in good technical condition but you don't have to worry about the rest sp much. A scratch more or less, no problem at all. That's what patina restoration is all about. Driving and having fun. 2) Worth only 1.500 bucks? Are you joking? Everything seems to be way more expensive over here in Germany. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
Looks a lot better than when you first got it !!
Awesome vibes man. Nice video.
Great video. Good name the dumpster 👍👍🇬🇧
Nice job 👍. Picks the second key and it fits and yet turns switch on. Could you email some lotto numbers.🤣🤣
That water pump impeller was stuffed! Glad to see you changed it... Flat spots where it rubs, blades permanently curved - it would not have worked for much longer. The flat spots are worn away from starting it dry.
Forgot to add - to get the blades all facing the right way, rotate the drive shaft in its normal direction as you push the housing down over the impeller and they'll all go into place.
New subscriber here. You are awesome! I watched your part 1 of this video it’s incredible jobs! Keep it up 👍🏼
Thanks Wayne!
Looks like a good time camping at the river!
Yeah for sure man! The islands out on the Delaware are really nice
Great video man thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Damn solid old boat, remember those old solid bass boats. Saw some new ones last weekend, talk about sticker shock!!!! They are beautiful though
Chris - I applaud you for wearing HV gloves when you need to. The rubber liners should have a leather outer glove that protects the rubber one. You can test the glove by blowing the glove up like a balloon and then rolling the end to check for any leaks.
I like what you have done here, not so much the carpet idea, but it works for you. Love it. BTW, it is more than I have.
Got the life.. keep it simple.. doesn't get any better for FREE.👍👍
Love it! Make some cushions for your seat.
Cool Video !!! Thanks 👍
I frigin love your videos brother! Peace from VT
Thanks man I appreciate that. Much love from PA
Hey dude I love your videos I had a boat with the same dull finish and for a cheap fix I used Mother’s Mag Wheel Polish & a buffing pad in a drill it made a big difference! Give it a try 👍✌️
Thanks man I appreciate you checking them out! And yeah I did a little buffing on it and hit it with clear coat. Looks a little bit better but nothing too great
Let them hate if they ain't hating you ain't doin something rite 💯
I replaced one of my storage covers with plastic cutting board material, also did my fender sides as the wood just doesn't last. The plastic is strong and will never rot, once and done. Try it out on one or two and see what you think. I bought my stuff off of amazon of course and you can carpet it as well.
cedar boards would be good instead of plywood.. I like the patina too but I like the interior being refinished. There are some patio bench pads that would work well for a seat in it. that transom would make for a good part 3.
I have a 14’ glassstream. It is one of the most fun boats I have ever had. If you decide to sell this one I would love to buy it. Thanks for the videos. Great job on a budget.
Yeah they definitely are fun boats for sure! I'm working on a part three, and then at the end of that I'm going to decide if I am parting ways with it or not. Thanks for checking out the videos!
Awesome video bro. Definitely liking the long format stuff. Dare I say better than mustie1!
Glad you came to the fb group hopefully they didn't beat you up too bad lol. Looks like the old Chrysler's doing pretty good don't worry about the looks just have fun with it, that's what it's all about.
Excellent video five stars
You're sitting on a boat that actually has quite a collector following. I would go full restore.
holy cow that transom is solid lol
Right!?
Great Job..... i would have went with black astro turf tho..lol...would look sharp... and maybe buff the exterior....love your vids Bro..
got a 85 Hydrasport w 200 hp Marianer dont spell but looks very similar yet runs great ,, nice to find this video ,best wishes
Nice man sounds like a cool boat!
In 1982 Glasstream boats in Nashville Ga waz building 168 boats a week in worked in the bass wood shop for 5 yrs the vin number is under drivers seat and on the Right rear corner
This is awesome I have a 18 ft 88 glasstream 180 boss in great shape I need to redo some wiring due to rats getting into my hull😕
