  • It's funny really as I always had a soft spot for Leeds even though some of their support was rather dubious to a young black kid from Stretford! I was ten when this game was played and remember it well! A few years later, a lad I know from Stretford joined Leeds and loads of City and United fans, that I know, would watch Leeds just to see John Sheridan! True story!

  • Great archive footage of before and after the match. The footage of the two fellas being frog marched up the road under arrest (7.30) is of my Uncles, Eddie Wheeler (with the beard) and his younger brother Kenny behind him. They always complained they'd done nothing wrong but you can guarantee they were talking when they should've been listening.

  • I'm a City fan and just too young for this, I first went to Elland Rd when we were both in the second division in 84/85 I think. Imagine some of the kids nowadays having to experience an awayday back then!! They'd never go again!!! I look at coppers at football now with their trendy beards and tatts and think back in the day you would of got bullied mate! The coppers were hard bastards back then most ex military, they'd give you a good crack if you got out of line. I hate modern football with all this money, zero atmosphere , clueless women attending games, total ownership of the game by Skytv. I've still got a season ticket can't fully let go!! Halcyon days. The Premiership needs Leeds in it..MCFC M20

Most of today's TV generation are brainwashed and cannot think outside of the box their in! Just throw the odd spanner their way like multiculturalism is racist and all about divide and conquer! See their reaction and, most of all, have fun!

    • Very true. Leeds vs Chelsea another classic rivalry. The police back then were a law unto themselves. As a football fan you had no rights at all, whether law abiding or not. Frankly, many of them loved the aggro themselves so they were often looked upon as just another mob. You'd go to places like Liverpool or Newcastle and they were basically trying to provoke a reaction on the walk between station and ground. Likewise, still going with the hope standing sections will be allowed again.

  • One of my favourite games of all time when the FA Cup meant something and managers didn't put out half strength teams. I'd been looking forward to this game coming up in the series and the old hand-held footage is excellent as usual. I was a little disappointed not to see more of the BBC footage though. Eddie Gray's shot that hit the bar in the first half, the move and build up by Currie and cross by Jordan to the Clarke header & Corrigan save shown in real time and not slow motion? Any chance of up-loading some more BBC footage? Also the attendance was officially recorded as 47,731 not 43,731.

  • I should have commented on this channel long before now. Im a Liverpool fan of a mature vintage and I will say that this is categorically the best retro footy channel on youtube. Whether or not you love Leeds the archival footage you have uncovered and the way you have edited it to show not only match action but also the fan culture of a game day experience in the seventies....well it is amazing. If I could say one negative thing I wish you would identify the music. There is a great soundtrack on this video but I dont know where it comes from. But as someone who did a couple of videos on Liverpool Fc in the seventies but gave up because they got blocked, your footage is a world away improvement from mine. Wonderful stuff. Best wishes and thanks again for these fantastic compilations.
