    • Honestly when you disregard the "haha funni cookiez" part this game becomes a pretty good metaphor for how capitalism has warped our society into something that thrives off of pieces of paper that would normally be worthless. Except instead of paper it's cookies.

Ukraine, the Hawaiian fire crisis, wealthy mouths snapping up lands and resources, increasing their imaginary numbers for the sake of numbers. But it's okay because I got TikTok dancers and Kim Kardashian is in the new AHS.

    • I can't be the only one who remembers the "paperclip generator" game from a couple years back, right? I mean, before THIS video showed its very obvious parallels to coronavirus response, that was the first thing I thought of. It was a game I heard about on some message board a couple years back and it seems completely identical to this one. You clicked on your mouse repeatedly to produce paperclips, which you could do at an exponential rate the more you did it, and it also got into some really bizarre, reality-warping lore. I myself never wound up playing it for more than a couple days worth of time, but it was pretty much the exact same setup as this. In fact now I think about it, I suppose it's likely there were other version after the paperclip one and before this cookie one.

How many bells *has* the goose stolen and why is nobody *really* doing anything about it? What primal urges does being a goose give a player? My headcanon is that the village is an undercover SCP containment site, designed to keep the goose occupied. There's a continual debate about if the success of containment means they should reduce its class to euclid, but that's a trap. The goose is always keter. Never feel secure.

  • Very detailed explanation of the game, I gotta applaud your efforts in articulating the underlying message! Nontheless, this game cleverly satirizes the materialistic tendencies prevalent in our society, where money often becomes the ultimate pursuit for many individuals. The game employs cookies as a metaphor, which effectively draws attention to these issues and prompts us to reflect on our own behaviors. Such is truly commendable.

  • 9:40 these exponential games probably count up to 1,000 and once you hit 1,000 you are sent back to 1 and the title of your numbers changes to the next tillion amount. So its not like the game is tracking dozens of digits but rather 4 digits and a dozen titles given to each bracket you reach.

    • cookie clicker is not capitalistic. Capitalisms is based on the free exchange of goods and services in an environment of competition and resource scarcity. In cookie clicker there is no competition, and resources are inexhaustible. Also prices for goods are fixed arbitrarily and not by any sort of supply and demand. People like to conflate greed and the desire to accumulate wealth arbitrarily while exploiting those who are vulnerable with capitalism, but those human faults exists in all economic systems.

      @tannerarmstrong1496@tannerarmstrong14962 жыл бұрын
    • @@tannerarmstrong1496 no no no, that's a free market. Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production. In this game, one player controls the whole thing, that's what op is talking about. Also, capitalism and by proxy, free markets, have a tendency for ever expanding that production for the sake of profit and nothing else. That's what this game highlights through things like the grandma revolt (worker's revolution) and the monstrosity of the ever expanding cookie empire.
