It's the web game that you think is for 30 minutes of clicking, but once you play for a little bit longer you discover how fricking complex this game is. I mean even Clicker Heroes isn't that complicated and extensive.
And to think: The ascension system alone took the devs of cookie clicker a few YEARS to make it as good as it was, of which it came out at about march of 2016.

I can't be the only one who remembers the "paperclip generator" game from a couple years back, right? I mean, before THIS video showed its very obvious parallels to coronavirus response, that was the first thing I thought of. It was a game I heard about on some message board a couple years back and it seems completely identical to this one. You clicked on your mouse repeatedly to produce paperclips, which you could do at an exponential rate the more you did it, and it also got into some really bizarre, reality-warping lore. I myself never wound up playing it for more than a couple days worth of time, but it was pretty much the exact same setup as this. In fact now I think about it, I suppose it's likely there were other version after the paperclip one and before this cookie one.

9:40 these exponential games probably count up to 1,000 and once you hit 1,000 you are sent back to 1 and the title of your numbers changes to the next tillion amount. So its not like the game is tracking dozens of digits but rather 4 digits and a dozen titles given to each bracket you reach.

This video is the single best criticism of capitalism without criticizing capitalism
cookie clicker is not capitalistic. Capitalisms is based on the free exchange of goods and services in an environment of competition and resource scarcity. In cookie clicker there is no competition, and resources are inexhaustible. Also prices for goods are fixed arbitrarily and not by any sort of supply and demand. People like to conflate greed and the desire to accumulate wealth arbitrarily while exploiting those who are vulnerable with capitalism, but those human faults exists in all economic systems.
@@tannerarmstrong1496 no no no, that's a free market. Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production. In this game, one player controls the whole thing, that's what op is talking about. Also, capitalism and by proxy, free markets, have a tendency for ever expanding that production for the sake of profit and nothing else. That's what this game highlights through things like the grandma revolt (worker's revolution) and the monstrosity of the ever expanding cookie empire.
