  • Love the idea of the Whoop strap. I just wish it didn’t have a subscription service and was just a one time cost

  • This whole "buy a physical product and than pay extra for a subscription model" is an entire scam. So I am basically investing in a company, and I am at their mercy when it comes to pricing. Because if they change the pricing and I don't want to use the service anymore, I am stuck with a +200$ investment. I'd never buy such a product.

  • Amazing video. Been wondering how accurate a tracking ring could be compared to other devices and I'm pleasantly surprised! Just a note about you having trouble sleeping 9 hours, that's not a bad thing!! Average adults require between 7:30 and 8 hours of sleep to reach optimal form when everything else (exercise and nutrition) is, again, average. The fact you managed to reach 7 hours so consistently with the life and schedule you have is already very impressive imo

  • I have worn an Apple Watch since launch. I have worn a Whoop since 2017. I also use a Polar H10 chest strap and tried an Oura Ring. I view the Polar H10 to be the most accurate and have calibrated it at a sports medicine center. The closest device for activity tracking is the Apple Watch without question. It is virtually equivalent to my Polar H10. I find the Apple Watch far more confortable. However, the Apple Watch does not have well developed recovery tracking because it does not measure HRV automatically. The Whoop is great for sleep and recovery but absolutely terrible for activity tracking. It has the lowest correlation to the Polar H10. The Ring is great for tracking sleep and recovery. It actually was better at tracking activity than the Whoop. Ideally, I would have Apple but Whoop so that the algorithms/software that make Whoop great, could leverage the Apple Watch’s data tracking. This video was helpful but makes me think I should cancel my Whoop and stick with the Apple Watch…

  • 15:33 On calories. Be sure to check your weight is accurate and your using a proper heart rate monitor. I use a polar hear rate monitor paired to the watch directly and the calorie counting is far better for workouts especially runs and HIT. This is likely because the watch samples heart rates at a lower rate. It can be as bad as every 5 seconds whereas polar can get multiple readings per second.

  • Used both the Apple Watch and Whoop for 2.5 years but once the AW8 came out I just stuck with the watch. I figured I would always need the time for the gym or while running, and once the 8 came out with the improved battery life I was finally able to use it throughout the day and night for sleep tracking. The Whoop was also wildly inaccurate when it came to sports with heavy hand movement (Tennis, Football, etc.).

  • The app Athyltic on the Watch is very similar to the whoop app. It isn't quite as good but it still gives you tons more insight. I do wish the whoop would pull in data straight from the health app so you could use the watch as an alternative.

  • Great video! I have personally started with the OURA ring which I've used for about 18 months. It started bothering me at night as I often have my hand under the pillow and it started to create too much pressure and I woke up frequently. My second purchase was the Whoop band... super comfortable also at night but significantly different in sleep tracking results compared to the OURA ring. Sleep tracking was my main objective so I find it confusing that the results can be that much different. With the OURA ring it is pretty much impossible to get a rating above 95 vs. the Whoop band gives you 100% quite easily, which is also the reason why so many influencers brag about their great sleeping results with that band :) I certainly did not like the monthly fee with OURA and after I have learned what I could learn with it I stopped my subscription and sold the ring. The Whoop band is even more expensive monthly which is why I think about getting the Apple watch as well, so this video is very helpful!!

  • You should definetly try some Garmin device. Body battery there is amazing. I track every day for over 2 years and there was none with inconsistency measuring. And if you look there at sleep score, rest HR and body battery as a complex number, there is amazing tracking - sometimes you can have long sleep and so good score, but at the same time you can feel not so good - and i will it as low body battery (in case of alcohol in the evening or hard training, whatever).

  • What is cool about the whoop over any device is it is all based on strain. As an example, if I sat at my desk all day my whoop would say my strain is low and to get out there and walk, run or whatever I wanted to do. If I dont even start an activity but work hard in the warehouse all day my heart rate goes up and gives me credit for strain. It takes that automatically as basically a workout. Unless you start your Garmin as a work out while let’s say working a job all it will do is drain your body battery and not give you any load. The other day just for the heck of it I decided to put my watch on cardio on my Garmin and do my normal work activities while working and in 2 hours gave me load of 100. If I wouldn’t have started the workout it would have done nothing but drain my body battery and gave me steps for the day. My whoop counted it all automatically.

But if only they just incorporated at least an LED indicator to show HR zones, than it'd be top. Anyone know when the 5.0 is coming out?

  • tried whoop and stayed with the watch. Dont like the subscription model at all, rather pay 500 upfront and have the device forever with trade in option maybe, than paying 20+ a month. Also whoop track a lot effortlessly but when its about to work out at the gym you need to put he exercises and reps manually, apple watch (with external app) can detect that by itself, also kinda like to have an option to skip my music, change volume on the go and see heart rate within seconds or always with AOD, dont want to use my phone to see the stats. So for this reason stayed with apple watch also the answering phone calls and pinging a phone is a must. However the sleep stats and recovery score, smart alarm with whoop is the top of the league however its not worth paying 20£ a month to see the sleep stats (at least for me, there are freak people who will pay and are paying for this)

I bought a smart watch for £25 upfront, and it gave me access to an entire screen, step count, time, notifications, weather, music control, and more without me having to pull up my phone. Plus the fact that the WHOOP is £27 A MONTH, which is as much as I paid upfront for my smartwatch. Yes the WHOOP has a few extra statistics, but the fact that it doesn't even track steps for a "fitness band" is just outrageous.

Similar to what Better Ideas did with his sleep tracking video. As one big issue with the whole “recovery” stuff is that when you wake up and see it saying “you got bad recovery” you will then start to feel worse and start justifying doing things that would correlate with being “low recovery” Just an idea as it would allow for less mental interference from day to day, that way you can learn if it’s actually lining up.

It has zero idea into your intensity and the only way to truly do it is to track your weight daily and calories in. Really depends on what you value.
