I get the camel joke now 😂 To follow up on this video, I have now posted my ranking video where I rank every Goosebumps book in the original series from worst to best, as promised in this video, so that you can see which books are my favourites and least favourites, and everything in between: kzhead.info/sun/n6afkdx7hql3oXk/bejne.html
Be pretty neat if you did a format like this for Animorphs, which is released under Scholastic as well, and is a significantly better book series aimed at children.
Okay so I loved this video. Not even made it was 3.5 hrs long. Could you do the The Nightmare Room series by R. L. Stine? Those books are super fun.
The thing is, how does Tasha and Ricky know each other's numbers? Secret relationship ? ? ?
@@Zombie-TV it was the 90's they could have found it in the phone book.
Friend: Have you seen this new film Me: Nah, I rarely have time to sit down KZhead: 3 and a half hour review of a book series you read over 20 years ago Me: Takes out the popcorn
😂 don't forget to leave a positive review on Rotten Tomatoes would ya haha
🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
😂
Literally me, I've never even seen The Titanic cause its too long for me but I just sat here and watched Gavin talk for almost four hours lol
I've never seen this man before, I literally just got him in my recommended and I enjoyed the entire 3 and a half hours
Same here...
Same
I didn't realise it was 3.5 hours long till you said it ...
Same

I think these books show just how far middle grade has come. Kids can enjoy nuanced themes, fleshed out characters, and good plots! Who knew?!
100000% agree with this. Children's books in the 90s are sooo different to what we have now. We love to see the progress
It would wouldn't it, if Christopher Pike wasn't a thing. Just so happens that nuanced themes and fleshed out characters just didn't sell as well
@@AcademicType616 I have never read any Christopher pike but looking at how well written middle grade today is and how well received the books are I think it's safe to say fleshed out characters and nuanced writing sells just fine. Kids are not stupid, and it's sad that it took decades for this industry to realize it.
kids in my class in middle school were reading Michael Crichton and I was reading my Goosebumps books. psssht their loss
@@AcademicType616 I mean that’s a single series versus the many many other series there is
Let’s get invisible - ‘how about let’s get in the f*cking bin?’ This is so funny. I was completely caught off guard by how bluntly and seriously you dissed this kids book. Lol.
Goosebumps: murder Gavin: OMG I love it! Goosebumps: eats turtle Gavin: OMG stop that's a living creature!
For the "how do you get down" joke here's the explanation: DOWN is also a NOUN that means FEATHERS. In English, many PILLOWS are made of DOWN. So, you can't get feathers from an elephant/camles, (what ever animal you use for the set up), you can only get them from a bird, and DOWN feathers, usually refer to those from a duck or goose.....I hope that helps
It helped me, thanks!
I was looking for this! I actually remember spending a long time as a kid obsessing over that joke until it clicked for me, but when he told it I realized I'd forgotten it again 😅 I think the problem is that we try to find the play on words in the animal names, when it's the word down that has the double meaning
Ah! I’ve always heard the joke, how do you get down from a duck? You don’t! You get down from a goose! Still a terrible joke, even as a dad joke.
Thank you. 30 year old mystery solved.
To duck also means to get down low. So you get down by ducking. A triple meaning.
Cuckoo Clock of Doom is one of the few Goosebumps books that, as a kid, I thought had a genuinely happy ending. The sister was just tiny Satan incarnate. and I remember being 1000% down with her being erased from existence. Especially since the protagonists life immediately improved by not having her in it (like when the spell reverses they go through all the moments she fucked with him and her not being there turned them into legitimately happy memories). "It's A Wonderful Life" but reversed. And if her and the parents behaviour is still as infuriating as I remember it being, I'm totally still willing to stand by 9 year old me's assessment that the kid getting deleted was a net positive for all involved. But I'm also an only child so hey what do I know?
As someone who was tortured by my 2 older brothers on a daily basis (With my psycho mother's blessing) to the point I CANNOT have contact of any kind with them now because I get so triggered...you can't convince me that "getting your abuser that you can never escape from erased from existence" is anything but the most awesome of endings!
Werewolf of fever swamp. The kid gets to have fun at night with his dog, but also he is a werewolf
The goosebumps books I always liked the most as a kid were the “give yourself goosebumps” a choose your own adventure-style story. Those are pretty cool, but it’s hard to summarize the plot. Unless you make a chart of every choice. There are usually 20 endings to each, some of them being incredibly stupid.
I always tried to be safe and those pages called me a scaredy-cat and told me to go back
I GET THE CAMEL/DUCK JOKE! You get down off a duck, as in down feathers for stuffing pillows...
I’m still lost 😂 but I love that you got the joke omg haha
Thank you for explaining that!! It's been low key bothering me all morning lol
@@GavinReadsItAll down is the name given to the duck feathers you put in pillows. The joke is that you can get down from ducks (for pillows) but you can’t get down feathers from a camel. It’s a shit joke.
@@Jamescross1981 nowwwww i get it. finally!!!
@@GavinReadsItAll Is it just as Americans that call the fluffy feathers used for stuffing pillows "down?" I'm American and I can't tell you how much my love of puns is wasted on my best friend, who's from Russia!
When I came to the states from Bosnia in 1997, Goosebumps helped me with English and got me into reading. Stay Out of the Basement was my first one I read. It also introduced me to twist endings which was mind-blowing to me. Appreciate this video!!
This is an awesome story. Thank you for sharing
This is longer than the Titanic movie hahaha Props to you for actually reading them all, can't wait to watch this, really appreciate what you do for this channel 😃
It is?! Oh my gosh, I need to do a graphic of films that my vlog is longer than 😂
A true king…. I’m actually in awe that you got through them all
Thank you 😭
there’s a stand-alone book- not technically goosebumps, but by R.L. Stine. it’s called “The Beast” and it’s based off a roller coaster in my hometown. as a kid i thought it was the scariest shit ever.
The nitpicker in me saw the British cover and immediately went "For a given value of "original", anyway." I've read Say Cheese in the British version, and one of the characters calls someone a "bloke". I figured I needed to find the American ones after that. I have PDFs of the original Goosebumps and 2000, as well as physical copies of Graphix, Give Yourself Goosebumps, 2000, and British and American versions of the original run. This is beginning to sound like a brag, but I will rarely get another organic chance to talk about Goosebumps again.
Love it, I'm glad you can gush about Goosebumps! Not a great deal of people talk about it on KZhead so it's great when someone does!
Definitely not a brag. I love hearing from people who genuinely love something. It's awesome to see their joy and it's infectious.
THE FEATURE LENGTH FILM WE ALL NEEDED
And this is just the theatrical cut 😂 the extended is like 7 hours long
@@GavinReadsItAll #ReleaseTheGavinCut
Young Gav ticking each sentence he reads 🥺 so cute haha!
I may bring it back 😂
i've watched this ENTIRE video at least 5-6x. it's hysterical and there's something so calming and comforting and addicting to it. i love it so much. hahahahahaha
Wow your dedication is unmatched and you have my eternal gratitude 🥰
According to my mum, I used to grab a book when we’d go in the store & apparently I’d finish them before we left so I’d have to pick another book to buy. I did have quite a voracious appetite for books as a child so I love this idea. I can for the Goosebumps, I’m staying for your channel as a whole! Woo!!
I used to do that too! She stopped taking me to the bookstore eventually bc I'd do that or finish the book within an hour of getting home lmao
When I was a kid I just grab five books from the library and read all of them within a week, I was known by all of the staff. I wish I could like that again 🥲
@@completebuffoonery3925 what’s stopping you?? Find your local library!! I just started going to mine again!! It’s freeeeeee 😂
@@morganwaas4868 omg my mum did the same 😂😂😂 they started buying a book without letting me read it until I’d done my chores for the week or got good grades or such lol
Down is a type of soft feathers that used to be used in stuff like pillows and sleeping bags. Its usually take form either geese or ducks. You don't get feathers from a camel, you get them from a duck
Didn’t know that! Thanks! I was thinking it was something about the other word duck, meaning to get down. But your reasoning makes more sense.
Awww, thank you for this! As a kid, I hated reading for myself until I discovered Goosebumps. Absolutely devoured those books (even named my dog Vandal after the dog in the Fever Swamp episode, lol), and I credit them to making me fall in love with reading and becoming the avid reader I am today. I love this video and going through each one. Thanks again!
Love that you named your dog Vandal, that’s amazing 😍
did i watch this entire thing over the course of my day while working at a bookstore? yes. did i enjoy every second of it? oh yes. i grew up with goosebumps in my periphery and only read a few, so this was a genuinely interesting watch! thank you so much for this!! it was definitely no small feat.
I met R.L Stein at a book release of his. I got to chat with him and he signed my book. It was really cool actually. It was in the year 2000 in Portland Oregon when I was 10 years old. 👻🎃🧟♂️🦇🧟♀️
I'm a simple man, I see Goosebumps in my recommended, I click. This was the first series I read by myself as a kid. (I picked up The Ghost Next Door because a character had my name!) I fell in love with it. I've been trying to collect all the originals again over the years. Say Cheese was my favorite. I LOVED the fake cliffhangers. I HATED the Gotcha moments. I also hated how none of the characters in any book seemed to know what the word "jerk" meant and always seemed to call people that at the weirdest times. (The hamster in monster blood was a jerk bc he ran on his wheel??? I guess??? Like hamsters do???)
Starting this now and already loving it. 3.5 hours?!? I think this might be a record 😄
I dunno if there are any videos longer on booktube but I’d love to find out
I remember very vividly a page from dead house that actually genuinely put terror in my heart, there was a page were our main character looks up her stairs and sees a kid standing at the top of the stairs, and if I recall she at first thinks its her brother ans yells at them but they don't respond they just stand there and stare at her. I think the book also began to describe how she noticed the kid looked off like he was green and rotting I think and something about the visual of this rotting child similar in age to our character (and readers likely including myself in this case) just actually scared me enough to close the book for a short period
I’ve been listening to this video all day while doing house chores - and it’s been such fun! Thank you big time for making this video and mad kudos for the crazy dedication it took! 🙌
Glad I can keep you entertained during house chores 😊
Hearing so many tired and repeated clichés from this just inspired me to write an outline for my own YA horror story based on my own real experiences as a kid. Love the vlogs, thanks!
we had a few of these audiobooks on cassettes growing up and honeslty they just add so much more with sound affects and the voice actors. Tower of terror is creepy! However looking back I used to have this fear that I would go to school and I wouldnt exist and be in the wrong place...oh goosebumps. Randomly had this suggested on my home page not disappointed!
this had to have taken AT LEAST double the length of the video to edit. this is truly impressive. you have more patience than i ever will in my entire life.
3 days to edit 😂 thank you for the kind words
OMG I thought you were going to upload this in parts, but this is WAAY better. It must've taken an eternity to upload, though. Thank you, Gav. 💜💜
Haha I left it to upload all night long while I went to bed 😂 it took an age to edit though 😭
The “how do you get down from a camel? You don’t you get down from a duck.” Joke is in reference to the fact that duck feathers used in pillows, comforters, jackets, ect is known as down. (Not a great joke but there it is.)
just curisous have you ever thought of reading the Fear Street books. I use to be so in love with Goosebumps and then when I saw that R.L. Stine wrote Fear Street series, I loved his writing even more. That was his walk into YA and it was a little bit more intense.
I'm gonna read them all next year! I just bought every single Fear Street book ready to do a movie-length vlog like this on them 😊
“It was Josh”. My fav is How I Learned To Fly.
First, let me say thank you for your intensive reviews and awesome humor - this is my first video I’ve seen on your channel and I will definitely be watching more! Second, I noticed something about the way my brain processes your voice and I mean this as affectionately as possible: I hear “shawty” every time you say “surely” and it somehow just fits in anyway and it is making my week
Hahaha shawty 😂 thanks for checking out my channel, really appreciated!
Doctor: you only have 3 hours and 27 minutes to live Me:
YYESSS LIAM!!! hahaha
Calling a skinny girl Fatso is supposed to be an ironic nickname, like how if someone's nicknamed "Tiny," they're either gonna be a giant of a man or morbidly obese or if someone named "Big Tony" is actually 5'3.
The haunted school really helped pass time waiting in the airport as a kid and it was one of the first books that made me like reading. It also might have kick started my somewhat unhealthy habit of consuming books in entire sittings, barely looking up from the page except maybe to eat
the camp books were always my favorites. i remember there was a special 3-in-1 boom that included 3 different camp-themed goosebump books heheh :D
I do like camp themed stories I think any story with an spooky outside environment, Rlstine shine in creep factor and atmosphere
The repetition KILLED me as a child. Like, these books sure are all written by the same older man, aren't they Goosebumps is amazing though
Yes! I've been waiting for this!
Imagine finding out the Goosebumps series was finishing, which you've really enjoyed for a long time, and waiting excitedly for the final book, only to find out it was yet another Monsterblood story. Yeah, that was me. And then the next series just didn't grab me. But I did like the 'pick your ending' style books.
Oh sigh but I liked the your ending books first time with books like that which was interesting to me
I appreciate how much work and effort this video took, I watched the whole thing and it was a fun ride! I don't consider myself to be an avid reader but a goosebumps fan for sure and definitely subbed because your take on novels intrigue me. Night in Terror Tower and Haunted School are up in my two favorites from my childhood and I'm glad they carried over for you too! Keep up the great work Gavin!!
Loved this video. Can’t wait to check out the rest of your channel!
Liked & subscribed:) Loved Goosebumps growing up. Nostalgia galore by the titles alone
I would love to see you rank the Goosebump episodes. Like genuinely, I think you would LOVE attack of the jack-o-lanterns episode so much
This is such interesting timing to show up in my recommended, because I recently did my own little deep dive into Goosebumps for the nostalgia. I have an older cousin who was obsessed with them when we were kids, and he would pass them on to me as he finished them. Such great memories!!
This is the greatest channel that i didn't know that i needed. I so have all my original 62, plus the 'choose your own adventure' spin-offs.
Wow. These are my fav kinds of videos and this one is a mammoth. Great work.
The dedication of this man! Bravo, sir! Bravo!
This was way more entertaining than just ranking every goosebumps. Great job!
i dunno how but everytime i go to watch this you always reel me in and are good at making this intresting! The Kidnapping of My Attention should be the next goosebumps book but by you! lol
I am living for these video series, THANK YOU.
Am I really about to watch a person spend 3 hours reviewing every single Goosebumps book? Siiigh... I'm gonna need a snack.
Really well done here Gavin. I got recommended your video probably based off my history of watching ranking videos, and I'm so glad KZhead sent me your way! Great thoughts, great editing, and just great work all around! I'm fairly new to BookTube but maybe I'll hang around and see what's up haha I've got my eye on that Animorphs video of yours next.
This is my favorite video of all time. I’ve been watching it every night to help me sleep. Your voice is so soothing, it puts me to sleep in 10 minutes tops.
I see u have the latest covers, love this novel series back in the day really changed my whole childhood...love your reactions with it and I hope to see more...*subscribed
I’d love to see you extend this series to the point horror series, I went from goosebumps onto those and I remember constantly checking out the point horror books constantly from the library at my school.
this was the most incredible video. such amazing timing for this season. soo much nostalgia!!! your wrap ups for each book were thorough and just like a walk through my memories... and your humor was ON POINT. you must have worked sooo hard on this video and i hope it appears in everyones recommended. im liking, commenting AND SUBSCRIBING!! i reallyyyy hope this goes viral for you, thank you so much for taking my mind off things and entertaining us :)
Aw wow thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate that, and thanks for watching my video, I’m so glad you enjoyed 🥰
amazing video! gotta admire the effort to go through all those books in a single month?! incredible. outstanding. brilliant. thank u for your service
Three and a half hours?! I'ma be watching this on my break at work over the next few days 🤣 I am AMAZED!!! Great job Gav 👍 You did my yearly reading goal thrice over just with these books 🤭
Haha yeah it's gonna take a few days to watch I think 😂
I’m only just starting the video- 2 books in- but man this is so nostalgic! I remember reading, say cheese and die in school and I remember this one where like an evil sponge is living under the sink? 😂 you are a saint. This is quite a commitment.❤
You are awesome dude! I read 10 goosebumps books this weekend and couldn’t stop! Can’t wait to get another one of those classic cover tins! It comes in next week.
I read some 20 books in a month last year and I absolutely loved them. Of course the writing is very basic and the characters are almost copy paste soulless people from each other, it can get quite repetitive... But I still found them great. Some books are really well crafted like The Haunted Mask, there is some very nice, suspenseful moments like in Night of The Living Dummy and even some emotional moments as well like in The Ghost Next Door ("summer always seem to be slower when you are dead. Maybe that's why no one awsered my letters", something like that). Not to mention the twists. Most of them are pretty good, like Shocker on Shock Street. Of course Middle Grade came a long way since the original series, but Goosebumps will always have a special place in my heart, even more so now that I discovered they are still at least good as an adult.
I love your whole series reviews. Watching the goosebumps video makes me hope you’ll do Fear Street one day.
SUCH a fantastic idea for a video! I have all 62 Goosebumps books too; I was obsessed with them as a kid! The UK covers are the best, obviously :'D
The Haunted School was my favorite Goosebumps book as a kid! I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what your review was, and I'm so glad you liked it. I'm 23, but I might have to buy and re-read that one again sometime.
I read Ghost Next Door as a very young kid, long before I had heard of or seen 6th sense, and it's ending still sticks out in my mind as being one of the best of the series. It's what I love and want in my ghost stories - a longing, a sadness, the scsriness being from the haunting of memories and the resolution being characters growing emotionally.
So glad I found this video! Definitely subbing!
Thank you for this😍
I’m beyond impressed with the level of effort this video took.
You were a joy to watch and listen to! So many memories!
Thanks so much for watching Eduardo 🥰
Watched this a little at a time for the past few weeks and really enjoyed it! You should do one of the newer Goosebumps series' like Horrorland or Slappyworld.
This is great! Thank you for all the work you put into this, great memories from my childhood and your reviews are great. Lots of laughs from me :D haha especially the monster blood one. I'm so happy for kids today because of the amazing range and selection of great books they have to choose from, so much better than when I was young.
Me too, so happy kids have so much quality to choose from these days 😊 thanks for watching!
This is what I've needed, bloody good vid man.
Oh man thanks Ben 🥰
Not a video longer than Avengers: Endgame! I'm so here for this, especially since I had a terrible day. Thanks Gav!
I didn’t even realise it was longer than Endgame omg 😭
Also sorry to hear you had a terrible day! Sending you hugs 💙
3 hours?!! I’m so excited for this vlog, Gavin!!
Ahh hope you enjoy 💙
I love this. I didn't read the Goosebump books a whole lot, but did enjoy them now and then. Love that you are doing all 62 in one video. Just started watching, but have no doubt I am going to enjoy this. I am doing a throwback Thursday on my own channel where I revisit old childhood favorites. I have found it so enjoyable seeing them through the eyes of an adult.
Best of luck doing the throwback Thursday! Thanks so much for watching 🥰
Gavin have you seen the Netflix series Creeped Out? It is like a modern day mix of Goosebumps and are you Afraid of the Dark, but with a kind of moral message mixed in. Its actually quite good.
Oooo I have not but now I must!!
Thanks so much for the monumental effort it took for you to read this entire series! I never read them as a kid -- I was too old by then -- but I read a bunch of them recently, then stopped -- just couldn't take the constant false cliffhangers, etc. -- but now I have a few more to read that I can be pretty confident will be worthwhile based on your recommendations. I also appreciate the important points you make regarding body image in these books. Children's lit has certainly come a long way in the generation since these were written.
Thank you so much Miriam! Yeah the focus on body image was so off putting, but fortunately there are still some rare gems in the Goosebumps series, and the ones I ended up loving again are the ones with the least amount of body-shaming and false cliffhangers, so I hope you enjoy those ones too!
I love Goosebumps lol! Great video, really enjoyed this! Just subscribed to your channel. I might have to do a Goosebumps thing on mine sometime. Love the UK covers, I'm in Canada so mine are totally different, very cool to see this version of them.
The EFFORT and work you put into this! Wow Gavin. You are legit amazing
Ahhh thank you 😊
there has been, many times in my life-- especially once i had my own money, that i thought about buying all the books in the series that i didn't own. i think i have like, 6? & they are not in any kind of order. i know i have dead house & the snowman book, be careful what you wish for & the first deep trouble as well as a couple of the choose your own adventure books, which were always my favorite as a kid but i never stayed in goosebumps long. i think i started reading them around 1st or 2nd grade then got into the fear street stuff b/c goosebumps wasn't scary enough for me. i've started reading them to my kids around halloween & im glad i found this video ( i found it shortly after you posted it, it just took me about 2 weeks to watch the whole thing! ) b/c i was thinking about buying them up. glad i didn't b/c i think i would have LOST IT judging by your slow decline... i think i'll watch your full ranking video and maybe pick the top 10 or 15 to buy for my own collection & save myself some money & a lot of headaches. great video! this is the first i've seen of your stuff but i plan to peruse your back catalogue!
Oh wow! This is so exciting! Beyond feature film length!
Hehe thank you 💙
starting this video. i was obsessed with this series as well as a kid and read them all. the ones that stand out in my memory most the beast from the east a night in terror tower the haunted mask a shocker on shock street in fact now that im halfway thru this video i clearly remember getting into goosebumps around the mid 20s of the series, and went back and read all the ones i missed
God I haven't heard 'Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your aunt' in ages! Made me grin. Also think this is definitely the longest video :)
Haha I say it too much off camera 😂
watching this brought back so many memories! some of my favorite things to check out from my school library were the goosebumps graphix adaptations. to my memory, the art styles from the different artists they got to illustrate were always well-suited to the stories (i.e. a more cartoonish style for camp jellyjam and more eerie & atmospheric for the scarecrow walks at midnight). idk if they're available in the uk, but i think they'd be fun to check out!
Oooo I haven't read the graphix adaptations but they sound awesome!
Loved this!!
Wish I had seen this when I was eating my lunch a few minutes ago, would have been perfect! Very excited Gavin
We've been waiting for this one, turn it up!
Then turn it off after 10 minutes 😂
It took me 3 days to watch this video in full (because of the length haha) but it was worth it! Can't believe you managed that!
You did👏the👏thing👏. I so appreciate all of your effort in this 💚
I did 😭 There were many times I wanted to quit, but we persevered
Great video!
I didn’t know I needed this video, but I’m living for it. Just subscribed too ✌🏻
Thank you so much Carrie-Ann 😭💙
The ghost next door is honestly more sad than scary, especially the ending where she waves goodbye to her neighbour and reunites with her family in heavan. Cried like a baby the first time I read it. But it also had one of the most genuinely terrifying scenes I've ever read, that being the "Dream" sequence that happens around half way through, where she wakes up to her room engulfed in flames. And you get this vivd description of the fire surrounding her bed and the wall paper peeling off and the sound of crackling and she wakes up and it's like, ok fine. It was a dream but then at the eand you learn that, no. It wasn't a dream. She literally DIED thag night. So either that dream was her last waking moments before she died and woke up as a ghost, or the literal moment of her death. That shit freaked me out so much more than anything else in these books. ... Well almost everything.
I applaud you for getting through all the books. I've only read a few of them and I rolled my eyes hard enough to pop out of my head.
Sounds about right 😂
I've never read the Goosebumps series, but after watching your vlog, I feel like I have now 😆 This was absolutely brilliant and one of my favourite videos ... can't begin to imagine how long this took to edit!!
I did try to talk about each book in depth so you can follow what I’m saying about the book, so I am sooo happy you feel like you read the books too with how I spoke about them! That makes me so relieved 😄
I'm totally new to your channel - you are very funny and already subscribed. my best friend and I decided to read some other goosebumps for the Halloween lol
Thank you Gav, you're amazing! 😍 Now I'll be waiting for an hour long video about Goosebumps characters who don't learn their lesson 😀
Omg I seriously have so much rage still, I may just rage-film the video 😂
I genuinely appreciate how comprehensive this video is. Amazing watch!
Thanks so much, I did try 😊
