Live: Thursday 18/06/1964
The Beatles had arrived in Sydney, Australia on 11 June 1964, but didn't perform there until this day.
They arrived in the city by aeroplane at 7.40am. Around 1,200 fans greeted them at the airport, along with 300 police officers.
The Beatles were taken to their suite at the Sheraton Hotel, and later gave a press conference for Australian reporters.
In the evening they gave the first of six shows over three days; each performance was seen by 12,000 people. As was now customary, The Beatles were subjected to a storm of jelly babies thrown by the fans, the result of an off-the-cuff interview comment made by George Harrison in 1963.
«Wherever we've been since then - America, Europe and now Australia - that stupid story has gone ahead with the result that we get jelly babies chucked at us till we're really fed up.» (George Harrison)
Paul McCartney was forced to twice stop the group's performance to ask the audience not to throw sweets; both times he was ignored and a new candy hailstorm greeted the band.
18 June 1964 was McCartney's 22nd birthday, and after the concert a party was held back at the Sheraton. Also present were 17 girls who had won the Daily Mirror newspaper's "Why I would like to be a guest at a Beatle's birthday party" competition. Ringo passed out drunk at 3am the following morning.

Coming up on the 60th anniversary. I just posted a photo of my programme. I can’t believe I didn’t take a camera to the concert, although maybe they weren’t allowed.
Thanks for the memories, I was there!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗✌️
Never mind the cuts in the audio, this is GOOD STUFF! They sound great! I think to have seen the Beatles live would have been the pinnacle of all entertainment, ever.

Great job
I was 5. Must have been an awesome experience.
Thank you!
The Beatles Australian tour of June 1964 was the first and last time they would ever visit!, It was also here that they received the biggest ever fan attendance anywhere in the world.. Adelaide!, The attendance was almost half a million people and Melbourne wasn't far behind, In Sydney they arrived in dreadful conditions in the pouring rain but fortunately their performances at the (now non-existent) Sydney Stadium was loud (because of the screaming crowd) but exciting!, It's a great shame they demolished the old Sydney Stadium because it was an historic venue for many entertainment & sporting events for many years, It is now a city bound road that runs directly through and a huge railway overpass directly over the former site and the only reminders of the old place are 2 plaques?.. 1 on a stone monument directly under the railway overpass and another in tribute of The Beatles Concerts on the footpath around the corner of the former site.
great footage but the audio edit is impossible, constant cuts in the middle of phrases
Ponlo COMPLETO!!!!
How is the intro volume? Still loud or better?
It's very good! ✌
It's perfect! Thanks for this incredible footage, even though watching these always make me sad. I was just turning 7 in June,1964. I remember all of this like it was yesterday...😢
This channel is the best I love the beatles
My mate and I bought 10/- tickets for the bleachers. We were alone in the bleachers except for the cops. We were well out numbered. There was a small crowd around the stage but I was amazed how empty the Sydney Stadium was. I put it down to parents not allowing their kids to attend due to the riots shown on TV of the European concerts. I only just came across this video. The concert I attended 'the boys' screwed up 'This Boy', had a laugh then carried on. The description given here was written by someone who didn't actually attend the concert I attended. There is a lot of poetic licence. No jelly babies that I remember and no 12,000 people, maybe 1000 tops.
Podem liberar o show completo ???? I ser muito foda
Full show unfortunately not.
Correction.. there are 3 plaques!
lmfao they literally could not hear themselves playing, you can see them turning their volume up on the amps 0:31
it was at paul's birthday
Well folks the 60th anniversary of this event is coming up in June 2024 & unfortunately the old Sydney Stadium is sadly long gone at Rushcutters Bay & all it's left to remind Sydney & the world of this historic event is a round plaque cemented by the local council on the footpath outside the gates of Weigall sports ground just around the corner from the very spot just behind a bushed covered mesh wire fence where The Beatles actually performed 6 times in Sydney in June 1964... an original commemorative plaque on a huge stoned monument marks the spot where the centre stage actually was where The Beatles & many other historic events that happened in the 62 year period of the stadium, so many Sydneysiders have travelled by train directly over it, driven past it & even walk past this spot on the footpath without ever realising it?, this historic black & white footage is really the only significant evidence of that first concert on the night of June 18th 1964 that blew the tin roof right off the old Stadium, it was indeed Sydney's first real live hit of the sound of 4 young gods that not only changed music 🎶 as we know it but Australia 🇦🇺 itself!, thank you John, Paul, George & Ringo.
Awesome vid, but is the cropping to 16:9 necessary? We lost much information from top to bottom.
This is part of the information above and below is not needed. Be sure to cut to 16: 9 so that the video is shown full screen for 16: 9 monitors
@@HDBeatles could you post a 4:3 version? It's a real shame there isn't more of this footage available. I love the camera angles and movements, feels modern.
The songs end too soon!
:'D
To many edits.
Go back and do it better, we’ll wait.
Today is my birthday
Needed another 10 million edits and splices for SUPER-AGRO!!!! Yes folks, get SUPER-AGRO any time you get the urge to have someone punch you in the pants!!! That's SUPER-AGRO at all fine stores!!!!
Primero
..........qué pena que el sonido de entonces, no era en NADA comparable al de ahora.....!!🤦🤦
Why do their voices sound double-tracked if it's live? :)
Artificial stereo
Post them all separate please🙏
ok
Doubled vocals...
