    • I was at the arena. They were trying to have 2 kids play a game of rock paper scissors and they failed like 4 times in a row. It was pretty hilarious, the commentator ended up declaring them both as winners :D But he wasnt trying to lit up the crowd

  • Fair play to the Brits. Their hockey program has made leaps and bounds over the last decade. Lucky Bedard went over for Canada. The kid is incredible

    • Most of Canada's top Players except for Bedard are playing the in NHL Playoffs. GB had only 15 shots on net, I would not say they made leaps and bounds, they were on the defensive for most of the game. Bedard is a generational talent and is only 18 years old, he will only get better.

    • ​@@vancouver1261you're mistaken. GB got promoted in 2018, survived relegation in 2019, then beat Belarus in Switzerland in 2021. When Russia and Belarus were banned GB were already in the top group, they were replaced with France and Austria.

  • A well-deserved win for Canada, as expected, but very proud of GB's showing. Liam Kirk proved his class yet again and Ben O'Connor finished his goal with style. Another tough game tomorrow against Finland, but keeping up that level of performance will give the team a chance to get a couple of wins in an effort to qualify automatically for 2025.

    • This is no where close to Canada's elite players, they are playing in the NHL PLAYOFFS. Other than Bedard who is only 18 years old. These are mostly Canada's young guns.

    • @@will7335 Nobody is salty with a W. Canada actually has a reputation of starting slowly in this tournament with low scores against much lesser teams only to eventually win the gold, we saw this in 2021 Riga when they started 0-3 and then went to win it all and a variety of other years.

  • Jackson Whistle is a good goalie. I am a Canada fan but as a Kelowna Rocket fan I was cheering for him all game. Tough loss but he did well considering.

  • Team Canada always has the pressure to win (every game) as well as the opponent ALWAYS seems to bring their A+ game to the rink. UK was standing tall for all 3 periods. The Lads played well.

  • Fantastic effort Team GB!! So glad to see you back in the Elite Division. Loved the goals and the hard work. So close to build a great momentum in the game. It died too soon, but when that said you should be proud. It is at least a big improvement from 2019. A few more years, and a few more games ,Team GB will be even a better hockey team. On jersey sales alone Bedard is making more money than the Nucks could ever offer him.     • 2017: They won and got promoted from DIV 1B to 1A 2018: Won DIV 1A and got promoted to the Elite Division 2019: Survived relegation and beat France in OT during the last game. France got relegated 2020: Covid happened 2021: Placed 14th, but improved from 2019. Won their first game in regular time (vs Belarus). Liam Kirk with a solid tournament. 2022: Relegation to DIV 1A 2023: Won DIV 1A and promoted back to the Elite I'm not British, but I enjoy following their progress.

    • Oh wait, Canada has a documented history of starting slow in this tournament against minnows only to eventually win it all, how quickly do people forget 2021 when they started 0-3 losing to the likes of Latvia and Germany. Group stage Canada is a different animal than playoff Canada.

    • yes. Unfortunately, the IIHF rules are an incentive to run up the score. I disfavour this for many reasons. I believe sportsmanship should not be about humiliating your opponent, or about creating a war on ice such as I see yearly from a certain team in blue.

    • @Snotzalotz Ice hockey and curling, we're elite at these two *team sports*. Decent with basketball (top 8, which England is nowhere near). If you bring Olympic sports/track and field into it, then it's definitely not our only sport. We have some elite swimmers, and are great in most the winter sports. Put that in your beans on toast and smoke it, colonizer/mass rapist.
