Wow. So referees allow the first German goal but not the first Czech goal. What logic is this? Same scenario, I dare say that the German one was even worse because there was actual goalie interference but here they just go there for a nanosecond and it's a no goal call.
The referee tried to make the Finns succeed but failed... well, not exactly, they stil have one point from this game..

@@vine01 Not anymore - people have really warmed to him and he gave a real captain's performance the past few years for the Czech Republic. He had several tournaments where he did not perform well and fans were wondering why he keeps getting called up, and he received very unfair dislike as he always tries very, very hard for the national team. But I think now he is really popular.

Palat's goal was a regular goal ! Czechs fought really well though and managed to beat Finland despite refs poor decisions that should not be overlooked.
That "oh boy" after dissallowed goal tells you everything. Like that decision makes no sence and ruins matches like this one. Glad we won anyways

We called it the chicken jersey (the lion looks more like a chicken). The problem is that Czech hockey federation can't put copyright on something with Czech coat of arms. Meaning you can't make money from something anyone can copy... That was the reason for the chicken jersey in the first place. And guess what? Nobody liked it so nobody was buying it. No money anyway... :D
Gut wrenching game, our Czech lads played very well and I felt like they were the better team most of the game, Sateri was a beast tho. Referees should get additional training. Best of luck to Finland ❤

This referee is an absolute rat. Not objective at all. Czechs took it by karma, played better the whole time. Hope they will review this referee and remove him from this tournament asap.

@@N_I_K_I_07 Refs are constantly on the side of western teams and make "mistakes" to former Eastern block countries. See games CZE-FIN and SVK-GER. Two same situations, two different outcomes. And that´s just the goals, I could go on about the penalties or missed penalties as well.

The rule about obstructing the goalkeeper in play. But I didn't see anything like that there. It would be a regular goal in the NHL.
The refs was just bad this game.
Czech player's stick was touching Säteri's arm just before the puck went it to the net. Therefore, Säteri couldn't do his job propely and there is no goal.

@@randomdudeyoudontknow Also, Säteri said in an interview with Finnish television that he had felt a light touch on his arm, so there was contact. The contact was just very difficult to see for anyone at the moment, which is why the refs didn't notice it at first.

Finland's game was boring and was outclassed by the Czech who deserved the win. Finland was lucky to get a point thanks to GK Säteri who played an outstanding game.
No kidding yesterday Latvia scored a goal against Poland in the same situation after video analysis.

Controversial call on the disallowed goal, bur our guys eventually won the skill competition. Both teams will have to step it up offensively, because this sort of abysmal shooting efficiency won't do. Good luck to Finland for the rest of the tournament, always my third team to root for (after Slovakia).

The disallowed goal by the Czechs may be against the rules, but on the other hand the use of such a rule was - in this very certain moment - against the spirit of the game IMHO. However this does not change the perfect performance of both Sateri and Dostal...

The problem with Finland's team is that they don't have balls to shoot, they could have the best spot and then they will pass. Really frustrating to watch, the only reason Czech didn't destroy us is because our goalie is really good

I had plenty of friends watching the match here in Finland with me and everyone thought that the Czech goal was certainly a good goal, very weird call from the refs.

I am starting to think referees are inconsistent and always favour "the more western" nation. How is this not a goal and 1st German goal was a goal despite twice slashing the goalie?
I have to disagree the referees are very consistent... in favouring western countries. I have come to the same conclusion a long time ago, and it gets confirmed each tournament.

We were robbed by refs. Goal scored by Germany was the one which should be disallowed, but Paláts goal was without a doubt a regular goal, even without Tomášek near Finland goalie, he would score as well. The only obstacle for Finland goalie was their own player, not Tomášek. Furthermore there were 2 clear penalties against Finns too, but refs were blind again. But we won at the end and I hope these striped amateurs will find their karma soon. It is not easy to play against Finland hockey catenaccio.

So much hate in these comments. As much as I would like to say that first goal was legit, rules are rules. You are not allowed in goalkeeper's zone. Althought it made no difference in the end. It was an intense game and both goalies really shined! Pity Finland was quite trash in shootouts. Well, it was very nice to see such devoted playing from both teams in the FIRST MATCH. Love to Czechia, from Finland

If not, well... then I guess it's all about licking wounds. I don't think they even use the same referees every match so obviously there's gonna be some change in judgement. Every year, every time.
No difference in the end? Czechs lost 1 point which can be essential in the end. Every point counts and this one was basically stolen from them by refs, not Finns.

Well...this game was "ho-hum " for me. 0-0 after 62 minutes, and it definitely wasn´t due them both being on their "A" game! I´ve seen both teams play better, especially the Czechia. The score fails were about even in my opinion. It was like a "how many times can we hit the goalie´s pads?" contest. In their defence , the first games of this tournament are often sluggish. Even Canada looked kinda lazy, but after all, many of the players have just finished an NHL season.
