  • Billy Kemper's wave at 9:50 is a mutant straight out of a horror story with a Shipsterns step at the bottom. Even HE looked back at it, no doubt saying "Dear god, WHAT ... did I just drop in on?!?!". Mad respect from San Diego...

  • I made that blank for Stretch with exactly these kind of waves in mind. Cut the trees, milled the wood, shipped to the Islands, made to Stretch magic rocker and templates, most will never know the level of hard work and commitment that Stretch puts into the hand shaping and tuning, precision glass, sand and finish he puts into those tow boards and every single board he touches. Made us proud Koa. Go again.

  • One thing I noticed when he was checking his board was the quick visualization he did. Where he just says, "brrrr, let go" and imitates the movement he will be doing as he drops in. Might not seem like much, but doing that actually helps you prepare for the activity you are gonna do. I often use it and have seen lots of succes with it when coaching and teaching newbs to surf. I tell them that they must just see themselves in their mind's eye, standing on the board, looking towards the beach. Effortless, no thinking. Weirdly, it seems to work.
