SCP-348 is a Safe Class anomaly also known as A Gift from Dad.
SCP-348 is a white ceramic bowl. While no maker’s marks are present, the Chinese characters for “thinking of you” are etched into the side of SCP 348. When in the presence of an individual afflicted with a minor illness or injury, like a cold or a scraped knee, SCP348 will fill with soup. Children who eat from SCP-348 several times often express a feeling of contentment, stating that though they are eating by themselves, they do not feel lonely.

  • Some readers have speculated that the salt water was the murderer's father's tears. According to the author of this SCP however, the salt water was actually the bowl's tears and it was crying because it was sad that its soup can't help someone who would murder their own father.

  • That opening alone made me cry. I know it seems so stupid or so small, but I hardly remember even being comforted by my parents unless it was something really serious like me getting beat up badly at school or when they split up. My mom was depressed on the couch and my dad was at work pretty much my entire childhood. I didn't get much interaction with them and pretty much grew up on the internet because I had nobody to talk to. And it hurts so much because it feels like they just forgot I existed and didn't care about me back then. This SCP hurts so much. It hurts that I can't relate with some of this stuff the kids experience with their parents like they should. It hurts so much. I can't stop crying every time I read about or listen to this.

    @bobbyavitia@bobbyavitia2 жыл бұрын
    • I think its more that fathers aren't "allowed" to be as loving as mothers. Of course its not always true but fathers are usually the "protectors" of a family, its their job to be strong, to provide, and they think that showing emotion would be a sign of weakness.

    • @Ayumi Shinozaki well the way the scp seems to work it will always be a message from your biological father, present in ones life or not. If the father was a deadbeat Who didnt care maybe the bowl would be blank, maybe if the father wasnt able to be there but wanted to it would maybe say something like: "i wish i could've been there for you".

      @pianoman1718@pianoman17182 жыл бұрын
    • @Ayumi Shinozaki hm, alright. I think the way it would play out then is that the soup would taste like something your father would like, but that you do not, a sorta "he thinks its good for you" kind of thing but the message would be something a little caring like "i love you" showing that even though he doesnt show it well in his actions he still cares for you in a way.

  • IMP, the bowl is probably an embodiment of Fatherhood. Basically it resonates with the paternal need of either party between the person eating the soup and the fatherhood the bow reprensented. Its quite sad when the bowl became filled with salt water because that probably represent the tears of the murdered father rather than words. The question "Why?" to the woman who rejected her father's effort to help her. As for the lack of interaction with teenagers, that is probably because of their need to build their own identity and to be free of parental influence, thus the disregard of the bowl and its content.
