Can ANY Boss Survive the Night of Black Knives? - Elden Ring
In this elden ring video I'm testing whether any boss would be able to survive the so called "night of the black knives", actually fighting against 10 black knife assassins in a boss vs boss battle.
According to the elden ring lore, the night of the black knives was the event that led to the death of Godwyn, son of queen Marika the eternal and Godfrey, first elden lord; and was a turning point in what would be a catalyst for the shattering of the Elden Ring, plunging the kingdom into chaos without the guidance of the Greater Will.

For Radahn, it almost always seems to come down to whether or not he can pull off his meteor attack.

@@WittyCorvian Well the player positioned himself so the meteor was a direct hit, and they were all grouped up idling
Yeah, that’s how a lot of Radahn Vs other Ai fights go. Radahn can be taken down to half pretty quickly by quite a few enemies, but that meteor is made to kill literally anything it hits, so if you get caught in it, you’re dead
Same thing with Malenia, that rot attack is what kills everyone because it takes like 10 minutes to disappear and the AI doesn't know to not be close when that happens lol
In fairness to Malenia, that whole "nuke the world" strategy she pulls out every time she's about to lose really comes in handy.
I like to imagine that if the fight didn’t take place in the Haligtree the bloom she does when she goes phase 2 would have created another Caelid.
@@xerofire lore wise it would be a fair assumption that the second bloom (the one in her phase 2) would be as powerful as the first one (when fighting Radahn), if not more so, but what she actually does is much smaller than the first one we can see when she fought Radahn. canonically it probably should create another caelid, but the gameplay aspect stops that, or else we'd become like Radahn

DAMN the Maliketh fight was seriously underrated. The fact that he INMEDIATELLY positioned himself better to not be surrounded, used AoE attacks first, and TOOK COVER of the Black Knife's own destined death, like he knew what kind of weapon they were using and how to counter it. So clean he never even needed to reveal the Black Blade.
Tbf he's specifically hiding the black blade because of them. He's probably been playing out this fight in his head for a while.

I was genuinely surprised that they never staggered him. Also, him jumping behind that pillar was the best accident ever, it looked like he was actually taking cover from the projectiles. It's a good thing for him that he did, as those were like eight energy slashes, and the NPC and boss Rune of Death effects seem to stack at a factor that just doubles their damage and speed.
I know legit nothing about the lore of this game but it looks like the assassins are malikeths soldiers or something

The Black Knife Assassins, and/or a certain Witch, stole a fragment of the Rune of Death from Maliketh, imbuing their own daggers with the power of Destined Death but to a lesser degree than his namesake Black Blade. When you first enter Maliketh's arena he tells you that Destined Death will not be taken from him again. From a lore perspective, it feels like justice that he won this round 2 battle against the Black Knife Assassins. His whole purpose was to safeguard and also deliver Destined Death to Queen Marika's foes and he technically failed in that role by having a fragment of his Rune of Death stolen and then used to kill Marika's offspring, eventually triggering The Shattering.
Would have been SO cinematic to see actual Maliketh fighting the assassins with them all throwing those energy blades at each other lol

Somewhere it makes sense for Rennala to get bullied so hard. She isn't quite a demigod or some superhuman, just a big brain lady.
Rennala is up there with the Giants and the Dragons in power levels if you think about the lore. And both Dragons and Giants lost against Marika's Golden Order. Raya Lucaria and the Carian Royal Family led by Rennala did not get beaten. But it is true I don't think she has the title of a Demigod even though her children do.
@@OokamiTez I think she's definitely up there with the more powerful beings of the world, and she's definitely superhuman or post-human in some way given her life span and mastery of magic, but she doesn't have divine blood. Her kids do through Radagon as their father, so it makes sense they're demigods.
@@dootmarine1140 Actually I think Demigod is more used as a title in Elden Ring. Because Radagon's children were not Demigods before Radagons marriage to Marika, where they were bestowed the title through being children of the Queens Consort. IIRC

He's the only one that "outskilled" them (if an AI can do so). Pretty much all of the others won by massive AOE attacks that the AI wasn't smart enough to dodge.

Fire Giant seemed extremely bugged, just constantly and rapidly losing health in phase 2, like he was hit by every "black knife" attack at the same time, but I don't think that's mathematically possible. They weren't even attacking him yet.
I see him always losing just above 4k when he enters phase 2, possibly to stay consistent with him ripping his leg off, but then Idk why Godrick doesn't lose some unless he gets it back for adding the dragon? Idk.

Yes it worked out so well! And we all know Soldier of God, Rick, was just being generous. I do think Godfrey and Morgott would've been able to survive lore-wise, given Godfrey's feats and Morgott having defeated pre-rot albeit younger Radahn. Fire Giant was probably on his last legs anyway but not sure about Mohg, I suppose his strength was cunning rather than raw power.

Why did his hp melt when he got to phase 2 ? It didn't do that in phase one and the knives didn't even start attacking, feels like a bug.
Look about 8:20 He gets hit with Tiches blackflame shortly before the Phase 2 start. That isn't a bug, it's just how much blackflame can ACTUALLY melt HP. Most of the time of phase 1, they were shooting it but too far to actually hit it. But then? He got it, right to the injured leg weak point. And it lasted long enough to entirely kill phase 2.
@@FFKonoko Yes, but throught the whole first phase he was hit by a multitude of projectiles, none melted his hp this fast. I know how fast it can melt hp, but everytime it happens, it's because the boss got hit by multiple projectiles that stack the effects. It doesn't just do a jump in effectiveness because of 1 projectile.
I like how Malekith didn't need to enter his second phase. He be like, "you dare use my own cheat against me, fools"
He's the Half-Blood Prince. Immune to his own machinations. Fits stupidly well with the lore considering nobody, Marika/Radagon and Godfrey included, dared go up against the Godskins and the Gloam-Eyed Queen back when they were at full power wielding Destined Death. Maliketh was the only one who could. He just seems to be too clever, agile and powerful to die to it.

Maliketh surprised me. I assumed that he was going to win but not in that landslide victory. Malenia was obvious that she gets owned first phase and then just nukes them second phase, however that stacked blackflame looked very dangerous at first. And Radagon was actually close. If he doesnt fight like he did and doesnt kill 8 of them Elden beast might get killed here.

It's so funny when they fight Malenia and Radagon and they're all just swarming, and you occasionally see one of them just leap up out of nowhere. It's like a cartoon fight where it's a mess of limbs in a smoke cloud and every so often a head pokes out or someone gets thrown out and jumps back in.

Makes sense lore wise too. Radahn is the greatest warrior out there, Malenia is the greatest child of a god, Godfrey is the greatest Tarnished and First Elden Lord, Malekith is literally a god (half-brother shadow to Marika, a god), and Radagon is a god (or half god if we assume he’s different than Marika). All of these won whereas the other ones that aren’t as powerful lore wise lost. Even Morgott did quite well and he’s beaten a weaker version of Radahn in the lore

He doesn't have an inner world besides that singular purpose, he can't be bribed, persuaded or convinced. If his duty necessitates killing someone or something, he'll do it, without questions asked or hesitation.

His health bar automatically drops by almost 1/5 upon starting phase 2, add to that the DoT and it's prob the result we see.

Astel was probably the most legitimate of those fights. Radahn and Malenia easily cheated with the phase 2 transition/rot flower.

I never fought Dragonlord Placidusax ~ Where does he spawn it seems i've to play again XD till now only Radahn, Astel and Placidusax defeated black knives matter XD
Firstly, Radahn absolutely obliterating them was a spectacle And then, maliketh's smart and deadly combat was so good that he didn't even have to reveal his true form, it was so cool!!!
Something so cool about seeing all of them gang up on the bosses in near unison
Morgott lost of course but that moment when he was almost down and then exploded and sent them all flying was still really epic. A hail Mary if I've ever seen one.
If those swords fell he could've won, fitting tho he's always one step shy of victory.

Radahn being mindless and nerfed still obliterated them.. The Black Knives thought Morgott was gonna go out sad and then he unleashed his power like a monster,, truly The Omen King.. Placidusax said fuck this and nuked them 💀 Maliketh surprised me, I knew he would win but he didn't even have to go 2nd phase, I guess we know who the true master of Destined Death is.. yea it was cool to see his Ai hide behind the pillars (even tho it was just chance) but it made it feel like he was very familiar with the limits of destined death and knew he could use the pillars to hide
they changed the radahn nerf back like a month ago friend

if morgott didn't get poise broken that hammer would have decimated them for sure
@@clankymocha that's false. The only thing that got nerfed was the hitbox size of his attacks. Nothing crazy.
I'm glad to see Astel do well here. Normally in these videos he's a pushover and it seems fitting that'd he'd put up a fight with such a freaky look and name.

I personally love the Maliketh fight. As soon as it begins, he dashed out to not be surrounded only to go into a beast incantation that hit a bunch of enemies in different directions since the assassins immediately surrounded him again. The movement was phenomenal and the attacks were something out of a movie
It's like he knew exactly how to counter his own weapon which makes it amazing to see.

Radahn's hp dropped so fast I almost thought they'd one phase him somehow. Then he started his fly up animation and all I could think was "all that for a drop of blood?" And Godfrey went down like a true warrior. He almost had that last BK
You actually can kill him between phases. Damage overtime effects continue to work during it.

I’ve one phased him on my last like 5 playthroughs… bleed on twin blades is nuts man.
I like how most of the bosses in the unlikely battles end up being canonically accurate in power. Like Radahn being able to survive Malenia and they both survived, Astel Nuturalborn not being susceptible to blackflame because he's cosmic made it easy for him to beat them, it's all pretty cool if you pay attention to the small details!
Also Maliketh beating them first phase. Payback for the lore

Just want to say the fact that Iji had like 4 of these things dead before you find him dead. Dude must've been pretty strong after seeing these in action against some serious badasses.
Yup - heres the thing. There were 10 black knife assassins - you kill 4 ingame as bosses, 2 more outside the haligtree, find another locked in jail (Tiche) and find Alecto's ashes - those 2 Iji kills are the LAST REMAINING black knife assassins (The ones accounted for, at least.) He IS a chad.

I was watching Radhan get beat up and I was thinking "cmo'n my boi do the meteor thing!" Radhan is the GOAT
legend has it that there were 20 assassins on the "Night of the black Knives" and the original target was The soldier of God, Rick. Only half of the assassins were able to escape. To atone for the fact that he didnt kill them all, Rick carved out the cave of knowledge with nothing but his bare hands and a torch to light his way. The only reason its even remotely possible for us to beat him is because he's tired from all the digging.

Good, but flawed. We don't actually beat him. He sent a projection in order to train us to take on everything in the Lands Between. We have never actually come in contact with Soldier of God, Rick (Not that we would survive the confrontation anyways). And we probably never will, unless his righteousness wills it.

The god-eating serpent barely being defeated by the assassins, the lone assassin standing there as she deals the final blow, exhaling a sigh of relief and heartbreak as she had just lost all her friends in the battle, and yet were victorious because of their combined efforts… Only for phase 2 to kill her moments later.

I'm surprised how well Godrick's move set is for taking on gank squads. If only he didn't spend so much time chopping off is arm (or whoever's arm that originally was)
That's the great irony of Godrick, his moveset is actually really diverse and scary due to the grafting, he's just too clumsy to properly use it and thus his attacks are slow and telegraphed.
His axe is really, really good for invasions at mid level.
I think it's quite a few people's arms. Maybe some legs and torsos too.....
