This Bait Works Every Time, Catching Black Drum And Sheepshead With Live Shrimp In Florida

Your best choice bait for Black Drum in Florida is shrimp. It's readily available and these fish love a tasty shrimp hidden on a number one hook. In this video I'm fishing at the Rad Sheepshead Hole again and the keeper Black Drum are still hanging out there.
I'd like to give a big shout out to Old Town for designing the best kayak on the market. The spot lock Minn Kota Ipilot motor is perfect for all types of fishing. Being able to anchor without an anchor anywhere with the push of a button makes kayak fishing super easy in the heavy current in this inlet.

    • Thanks for watching. Black Drum get much larger in comparison to a Sheepshead. I'm sure there's plenty of info online. They both eat crabs, shrimp and sandfleas, stuff like that. Drum are thicker bodied than the sheeps, and both are delicious to eat, having distinct difference in flavor and texture of the meat. There's a few things about them.

  • Hey JC ,great video as always, I'm just curious about how fast you can move against that strong the current?

    @andrzejserafin8427@andrzejserafin84273 жыл бұрын
    • When the current in the inlet is at a peak about 2.5 miles per hour at level 10 on the remote. I generally cruise in that peak speed current on level 7.5 on the remote at abut 1.5 miles per hour. It depends on how much weight I have in the kayak and also which direction the wind is blowing also...

  • Can you buy the pedal drive old town and when you get ready can you change it to the motor? I didn’t know if you could do that or just go ahead and buy the motor. I figured the pedal would be good exercise then when I can’t pedal because of my back I could change it out to the motor. I would greatly appreciate anyones answer on this. Thank you ahead of time!

    @bigd5625@bigd5625 Жыл бұрын
    • The Old Town Predator PDL use to have an electric motor that was made to fit the pedal drive area. I'm not sure if that option is still available or not. That's the only Old Town kayak I know of that had that option.

    • Sheepshead are delicious. You do have a point there for sure...Captain or not, I still don't think it's ethical to crowd someone when you are in a boat. If fishing from land in a condensed public area, then thirty feet is tolerable, but un acceptable when boat fishing...Commercial fisherman and charter boat captains often wear waders to protect their cloths, he was wearing them. Also, he was doing everything for his passengers. I've seen him on the water several times before and he has always had different people. I actually had a very similar encounter with him last year where he crowded in on me when I was pompano fishing and he had three men with him. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • As for that captain who thinks he owns the water, I think its pure rudeness on the water. Next time, put a 2oz Hopkins on that combo and start casting it off his bow. Do it enough with lots of splashes. Ruin the bite. He'll get the message as will his charter. Be sure to get his registration numbers, too.

  • I use cheep setups all the time and for years and years... If and when they go bad get another.. I have never spent a lot of money on reel and rod or tackle of any sort. Many people spend more on one piece of equipment then I will spend on my rods and reels for the rest of my life. What's the point. Advertisements make people spend money on crap they do NOT need. Most $25 reel rod combos will last you 10 years or more in any conditions. Don't be a sucker. You don't need a salt water reel, salt water Boat or special anything to do most type of fishing. It's not rocket science. It's fishing just the same as any fishing. I use my Crestliner Walleye boat in Florida 20 miles offshore and then next week in a 50 acre lake in Wisconsin. May want to get a galvanized or aluminum trailer is all. I use freshwater tackle in salt and salt in fresh. Rinse and repeat. People love to make it complicated and costly. It is not!!!!!!!!!!!! I Have seen people fishing in Pontoons off shore 3 miles next to $90,000.00 bay boats and people in john boats in wi. fishing next to $100K plus lund fiberglass walleye boats that would sink the first couple waves over the front as they don't have a self bailing haul. They look nice but the pontoon will drain at least without relying on Pumps. So just go have fun and don't buy the Hipe. CApt. Tim Capt. Tim

    • Thanks for watching and commenting. I actually have three different jobs within my corporation. One of them is fishing and editing videos. I also manage an online presence that includes websites, selling books and audio lessons. I also play music for a living. It's great being my own boss for sure. I don't make a lot of money to live on though. My accountant gets a chuckle out of how little I make and that I'm able to live off of it. I drive a 21 year old car and haven't had a car payment in over twenty years. This means I get to keep the bare minimum for car insurance payments. I very rarely purchase paper towels and also do without a lot of other luxuries. Black beans, tacos made with frozen ground turkey and salads are some of my main meals for dinner. I live a frugal lifestyle. I very rarely go out to a restaurant to eat. There are loads of ways to not spend money in order to be able to fish for a living as one of my part time jobs. I work many, many hours in a week to make very little to live on though...
