This movie broke my heart as I watched it for the first time last year 💔 So many of my favourites (Kawada, Utsumi, Chigusa, Hiroki)…all dead. 😞 I know it’s just a movie, but I became so attached to the characters, as if they were my own friends, and I was going to lose them. I honestly felt so much sadness for all of them, especially Kawada and Utsumi. Hell, even Mitsuko. None of them deserved to die such horrible deaths, except Kiriyama. I was really hoping that Kawada would escape the island alive with Shuya and Nakagawa; his death was devastating. I hope he and Keiko are together in paradise. The ending of the movie truly made me burst into tears, as Shuya and Nakagawa abandon their lives in Tokyo for a new life on the run. 🥺💔 Battle Royale is a cult classic masterpiece that deserved so much more during the period it was released.

Will always cherish kitano in both his role in the movie and his acting. Read the manga and wow! His characters is so evil that movie version is tame. Lets just say manga kitano or whatever his name is displayed sadism that fills a season of law and order svu.

The manga is inaccurate to what this movie was originally based on, the book. The point of the book is that the kids AREN’T evil, yes some of them are absolute jerks but at the end of the day all of them are just kids pushed to the ground by adults and society. The entire point of the book is that even pushed into cruel situations like this, they still find a way to be human, some by helping each other, some by trusting each other, some by killing others because they are scared of dying and just want to see their families again or survive. Besides the adults, there is only one true evil person in the book and that’s Kiriyama, who kills senselessly. The manga removed all the core message which made the book a timeless masterpiece, to make another edgy violent survival game manga
