After visiting Richard Hammond at the smallest cog, i was confident that id just about finished the restoration on the e46 BMW m3 that i found abandoned at a race track but before i dropped it to the bodyshop to finish the paintwork i wanted to go and enjoy the car! What better place than the Nurburgring in Germany, the most intense and dangerous tracks in the world!

  • There is another exit/entry on the Nordschleife at Breidscheid. It's on the right of the left turn on Breidscheid bridge after the slowest corner on the whole track. So pretty easy to find. You passed it at 15:15

  • I lived about 55min from the ring and was able to take the drive over often. Sometime I would just hang out in the parking lot because I had a bad feeling. It was never a waist because of the scenic B road drive to the ring, cars and people you see at the Nordscheife, and the Autobahn on the way home was always so much fun. Mat I’m glad you got to experience that and share the moment with us.

The front actuator is usually the culprit, but the one under the intake manifold can also go out. Actuators only cost about 45 quid brand new here, you got ripped off mate!!

  • Oil temperature rising must be a BMW thing I guess. We drive the 24h of Zolder (Belgium) in a BMW E90 325i. Last year temperatures during the race were like 35°C. The oil temp of the beemer was constantly around the 135-140°C range. We've driven like that for years, nothin to do about it. We just make sure to use decent synthetic 5W60 oil that can stand these temperatures. Dedicated fluids are always interesting if you're going to be pushing that hard for a long time. (brakes, oil,...)
