  • Notice how they dont compare it to the regular 40 series cards? Those that bought one dont have to worry since the performance gains are marginal. Why else do you think nvidia decided to compare the super cards to their 30 series?

    • 4080S is essentially unlocked 4080 (uses the whole dye from what i understood) so its 1-5% faster. It has a $1000 MSRP which we all know will turn into $1200 overnight so basically nothing new. Wait for 50s, its coming in 9-12 months anyway.

    • because the 4070 Ti was dogshit for its price. I haven't seen tests of these, but before the super, AMD was better in every price category if you don't care about ray-tracing. Hopefully these will add good bang for the buck, because I was going to upgrade my 1070 to a AMD 7800XT, but perhaps now I will buy a 4070 super.

  • Thank god I didn't made a mistake like few years back when i bought RTX 2070 a month before 2070 super was released. Now i was going to upgrade it to RTX 4070 Ti but when i heard that Super version is going out in like 1 month - I was patient like a monk in meditation :D

    • I find this mode of discourse much appealing. You see, I too am a person of very discerning tastes. The thought of ingesting glue is interesting, I have always preferred to inhale a few subtle wisps of rubber cement, the toluene has hints of elderberry and mild permanent brain damage.

  • I recently compared a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX against a ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 OC ... given the large price difference (~450 US) the 7900 XTX was dominant when you looked at FPS/$. Given the launch of the 4080 Super I thought it would be helpful to estimate how the gaming efficiency would change against the 7900 XTX. With an MSRP of $999 US and a performance increase of 3-5% I decided to select the middle point and assume a performance gain of 4% across the board and for the price I assumed that a Strix 4080 Super OC variant would be $200 cheaper, so the new price would be $1,350 US. Assuming that the price of the Nitro 7900 XTX doesn't change then the advantage in gaming efficiency or FPS/$ reduces from 45.7% to 22.0% for Avg FPS and from 47.5% to 23.5% for %1 Low FPS across 14 games. As you can see the Nitro+ 7900XTX still offers better value, which explains why Nvidia is aggressively pricing the 4080 Super. AMD could decide to counter with a further price reduction, which would be great. This type of competition is truly fantastic for consumers and I really hope it continues.

  • Did anyone notice the "get superpowers" phrase on the final screen? Then it's corrected to "Super Powered" at the bottom of the screen? This is misleading. You DO NOT "get superpowers" from this graphics card. Why go over-the-top with such an obviously false statement then CORRECT IT at the bottom of the screen? Why not just leave it out entirely? These commercials are already incredibly over-the-top without adding 100% false, unnecessary statements. What? 😬

    • 5090 will be the 4090ti. Basically 4090 is not even fully "unlocked" so they are saving fully unlocked chips for 5090. Otherwise the difference between 5090 and 4090 would not be significant to justify the purchase of a 5090.

  • On your spare time of doing Nvidia things the way it's meant to be played, could you please launch some appealing 4050 Ti, 4050 Super, 4060 Super 12 GB, and let it be only one 4060 Ti Super 16Gb? you know and reduce more the tdp so there is no need for unnecessary connectors as if mobile gpus and desktop were based on the same silicon and you let AIB a lot of room for overclock and put crazy connectors if they want... But 4050 75W, 4060 95W, 4060 ti 125w, 4070 150w...4090 300w founders ecosuper ti edition with plenty of vram like game consoles were using old 4, 8, 10, 12 or up to 16GB in current generation. losing -75% FPS just because not enough vram for game console ports...
