If they ever make a movie about Dame Maggie Smith she should be played by Sir Ian McKellen
Imagine, a Movie with Dame Maggie Smith and Sir Ian McKellen playing each other
😂
That's the best idea I've heard so far 😂
@@suppersdinner119 I’d would pay to see that, then I’d get a chance to Maggie’s impersonating of Ian
🤣🤣🤣
I love that Maggie Smith is aware of his impersonation of her haha.
Maggie Smith to Ian: "Just pull yourself together"
Omg he did an impersonation on SNL and he kisses Jimmy Fallon
She sensed it as it was happening.
Apparently she saw him and said, “I once did an impersonation of you but you aren’t well known enough so nobody recognised it!” (Or words to that effect...” - what a brilliant wit!
@@seancolepeper4410 The Dowager Countess strikes again.
Ian’s so adorable when he realized he imitated Maggie again. Haha!
Sir Ian. Ha
that graham norton is so brilliant, witty and quick! love his show
@Ber P. of course he prepares for the show and rehearses. some of it is rehearsed in advance i am sure. But its not easy to hold the audience's attention . hes very quick witted . i like him. OBTW i am not american. always love british shows, dramas, and comedies.
@Ber P. I am sure you have the credentials to come up with a better show... 😑
Ber P. If you don’t like him why are you here?
"Didn't work, did it?"
"Punami"
@@nherrer98 it's actually spelt Pounamu* and pronounced po - nah - moo . Sir Ian tried his best I must say 🙂
Visited Liverpool a lot when it was dank and dirty Why ??
@@-justcallmecourtz-7287 He was probably confusing it with "punani"
@@samflynn97 I doubt it he ain't even into punani
From Macbeth, to Magneto to Gandalf. This is one of the greatest actors who lived.
Canatar Zeuz I agree!
His King Lear was absolutely amazing.
Fassbender now is MAGNETO
@@abderrahimelkhaier1452 Not anymore after Dark Phoenix
I also loved him as Sherlock Holmes
Graham: and was it a nice potato? Ian: liverpools looking gorgeous these days.
You can see his getting old 😭
I think he heard potato as "place".
He has talked about issues with his hearing, and has been seen wearing hearing aids so he probably just misheard it.
I think it's the kind of joke in which you try to digress from the question because you know the answer might offend someone. It's like saying a lady is kind when asked if she's gorgeous or not because you are sarcastically being too polite to say no. That's how I see it or maybe I'm wrong.
I waver between misheard or changing the conversation because he didn't want to be rude to the restaurant...?
Ian McKellan reminiscing about his old crush is so adorable! 🥰
It's so gay
@@loltrqll Shut up
@@loltrqll A gay man is "so-gay?" Oh my what a brilliant observation! How very clever you are!
That was cute, especially his excitement to show which boy he had a crush on. Then poor Graham had to guess which one it was ... but the boy wasn't in the frame, so he jokes, "I don't know him." Ian is so genuine. What a great guy.
Now brian can tell his grandchildren, "Magneto was in love with me when I was in 6th form!" That's the dream.
"Don't ask me to tell another Maggie Smith story. Every time I see her, she says 'you've not been doing me again?'" *Didn't work, did it?*
So many people didn't get that......but you made me smile.
Right when he uttered "You have not been doing me again, have you?" I swear I could actually hear Dame Maggie Smith herself 😂😂😂😂
Anggraha Putra hopefully she’s talking about Ian’s impression. And not....well...you know.....
@@totallybored5526 He's gay so... 😂 😂
Funny, I couldn't.
Same
I love it. His previous Maggie Smith impression is hilarious.
"Didn't work, did it?"
@@galezhang Oh, very nice...
She's so funny.
It's hilarious 😂 he is adorable. I actually hear Maggie 😂😂
Dame Maggie, sorry
"I mean it's a good game, but"... hahahaha Graham's so damn good dude. *"and now you've done her again!"* rofl
"You've not been doing me again!" "Now, you've done her again!" "Oh dear...."
One does not simply correct Sir Ian McKellen when he's hearing "Liverpool" instead of "potato"
Mogli Kattenbracker What's Liverpool, precious?
@@michaellejeune7715 a city in the North of England

@@michaellejeune7715 Depends on how far global warming will proceed, I guess.
amyleefan85 And mash it? Put it in a stew?
He is so cute it is unbelievable. I was so lucky to see him in Billingham. He, of course, was amazing.
So jealous! I would love to see him in person. I bet he was great!
@@clairmarie3130 my favourite part was probably either his Mrs Twankey, or his Hamlet soliloquy.
I wish he’d come to Australia , and bring Maggie along. They’d have a blast. They’re both amazing.
Billingham? As in the town in the north east?
I love him. Not only a fantastic actor but also tremendously funny and a great humanitarian.
@emberock z they said "not only".
I also misread "not a fantastic actor but tremendously funny", I was ready to pick a fight 😂
I’m glad someone read what I wrote correctly.
Espy Me I also misread it at first and was ready to join the fight, but saw the large number of likes, reread it & immediately joined the "thumbs up" group! LOL
He’s amazing
Gandalf doing a Professor McGonagall impression? Yes please!
They both did othello but not together. She played Desdemona with Olivier and he played Iago with Willard White
@@johnkennethwiseman682 that's AMAZING!!!
It would be a jolly to see a sketch were Maggie and Ian are "husband and wife" and we're they argue and he mocks her with his great impersonations :)
One can only hope
This must be a thing! It simply must!
Sketch! I want an entire sitcom.
It would break the world... more so
i would love to see such a movie!!
"Was it a nice potato?" "Liverpool is looking gorgeous these days since they've done it up"
I’m guessing he heard ‘place’.
I'm guessing the potato wasn't great. He just didn't want to say that
What an adorable grandfather figure. Knighthood is not enough
I agree he should be made a Baronet.
@@LaDivinaLover love that!
They should make him king. Who wouldn’t want him as king of their country. Dame Maggie can be queen, Or Dame Judi Dench. Lol. Graham can be their media advisor.
Ian McKellen still has so much energy! Wonderful to see him so lively at 80 years old! May he live many more years.
Sir Ian McKellen is just too pure for this world.... phenomenal actor and wholesome man, love his realization that he did another Dame Maggie Smith impression!
Nobody: An Irishman: "Was it a nice potato?" 🥔
Sir Ian McKellen: must. not. insult. potato. hm so liverpool is nice
If it's not a nice potato I don't want it.
Every time I see Ian in an interview, I end up going back to watch Lord of the Rings again
think for your self that’s wizards for you. Tricksy lot.
I finally got my sister to watch it, I thought she'd never be interested. It made me very happy to see her get invested in the story. (She still likes The Hobbit trilogy a bit too much though.)
Love Sir Ian McKellan, what a treasure he is! ❤
I love it when he speaks, he is wunn of my only living heroes.
I’m not one for personal contact, but who wouldn’t want to give Ian McKellan a hug? You know he would hug you right back with absolute love.
It's always nice to see the genuine warmth that Graham Norton seems so able to draw out of people. A very special skill ... and i'm sure that Maggie Smith is a good sport. With someone like Ian McKellen, how could you be otherwise?
Sir Ian McKellen imitating Dame Maggie Smith, what's not to love about this bit?? And such a disarming chuckle when he realizes that he imitated her inadvertently.
"you've not been doing me again" 😂😂😂👏👏👏 ohhhh Sir Ian...a LEGEND 🎩
That small “oh dear” at the end kills me 😂 she’s gonna come after you Sir
Best talk show EVER!
His laugh at the end is so full of life 😊 I love this man
Who doesn't? What a consummate performer!
This man could stop a war with words. His charisma is on another level!
I literally stood up and said “Got him!” when he did the Maggie Smith impression😂
Sir Ian played incredible, huge parts both in theatre and the movies. One thing never changes though, he always is a lovely lovely person.
Definitely one of the best we've ever had in the acting business. He's phenomenal. If he's in it, I'm watching it.
I would watch a show of just Sir Ian McKellen doing Dame Maggie Smith. I'd pay far too much to see it.
Such a national treasure. Please keep this precious man safe.
I adore Ian McKellen😊
Sir Ian is the best queen the world has ever seen
I love Sir Ian McKellen so much! I can't resist any interview or talk show video he's in. It's always great to hear him speak. I especially love videos where he's with his dear friend Sir Patrick Stewart. Their friendship is goals.
So many amazing people come out of that collection of countries (GB). This man is no exception. Someone who’s genuine personality shines through. To be in his presence would be a great honor.
Sir Ian just brings joy to my life, what a wonderful human being, I love him so much ❤️
Both Ian and Maggie are treasures of the acting profession. Would love to see Maggie imitate Ian. LOL!
What a lovely man, what a lovely dumbledore he would have played. But alas, Gandalf will do ❤️❤️
He would have done a million times better than 'did you put your name in the goblet of fiyaaahhh' for sure
@@Stonytude Ahahaha...yeah, Gambon's interpretation was at times odd and weird.
@@c.s.70 Atleast it was much better than that of Wooden Harris....
@@rash123d7, whaaaaa. Have you read the books? Harris's Dumbledore's walked right off the pages!
But yeah, I.M. would have been a far better Dumbledore than Gambon.
What a lovely Sir he is
Went to his tour at the Belgrade theatre a month ago. He was incredible. One of the best things I've ever seen
Ian is the perfect gentleman.
I so love this talkshow. it's possibly the most fun talk show I have ever seen and the guests seem to have so much fun as well.
British talkshows are generally more entertaining than American ones imo
I love him so much. I was watching Two Towers (for the 800th time probably) just last night and just flailing over every scene he had. I love this man so much
The funny part of me hearing her say the "you've not been doing me again?" is she played his mother in Richard III (1995). So his imitation being that good makes sense.
I love actors at his level on shows like this. Other stars that are quite famous are left starstruck, showing they can still be fans. No one interrupted him, they were just listening very intently
Love Ian Mckellen 💚 Soooo happy that afew weeks ago I went to see Hugh Jackman on tour and we sang Happy Birthday with him to Sir Ian and he watched it live at his 80th birthday party 😁 very proud moment 😊
Sir Ian, the finest ♥️
A national treasure and what a voice.
I love Graham! He makes me laugh! Sir Ian is so adorable!
Absolutely love this man!
Dowager Countess: Why don't I find that reassuring! 😂😂
This man will be a legends for many generations to come.
He's so adorable and such a fabulous actor! I just love his Maggie Smith imitations. 😃👍❤
Yeah he is, how are you doing today sweet soul friend?
This show is always so positive and energetic
He’s so sweet
After this when he runs into Maggie she says... "So you have chosen DEATH, Sir Ian!"
Sir Ian is an absolute treasure!

I need a travel show miniseries with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen like, yesterday.
Alright Barnesy

- Was it a nice potato? - Liverpool is looking gorgeous these days since they've done it up, oh yes.
I WAS THERE IN LIVERPOOL WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT WAS ICONIC
I Love him on SNL when he is Hitting on Jimmy Fallon🤣🤣🤣
2:29 for Maggie Smith impression
My idea of the best time ever would be sitting at a pub with Sir Ian and Sir Patrick Stewart, knocking back some pints and hearing their stories.
it just strikes me, watching this, that Ian McKellen would make a tremendously AWESOME Dumbledore
I think he was offered the part and turned it down. I could be wrong.
@@pamelahofman1785 he did, on account of the fact that Richard Harris, the first to portray Dumbledore, once called Sir Ian a "dreadful actor", and he didn't feel quite right taking the role.
Sir Ian is hilariously funny. I ❤️ him.
I love watching anything he's in. He's the best.
Sir Ian McKellan brilliant!
I ADORE Sir Ian McKellan!!! And yes, he can impersonate Maggie Smith whenever he wants, please!!!!
I have been a Maggie Smith fan since seeing The Honeypot. She was the outstanding performance in a stellar cast that included Rex Harrison, Cliff Robertson, Susan Hayuward, Capucine and Adolfo Celli.
One of my most favourite clips.
I love this man so much!
