  • I will always have a soft spot for Extreme G and was thrilled to see it come to the Switch service. It has held up so well since its 1997 release and is so much fun to play. The speed boosts, the music, the weapons and the tracks all make for a fantastic racing game. It was also one of the first games me and my brother got for the system (along with Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario 64). Overall a great list with some very expected results, but hey those games deserve to be that popular for a reason :) The next bunch of games I would love to see on the Switch service are: Top Gear Overdrive (what I call a bargain bin gem, I mean who wouldn't want to drive a taco?!) any WWF/WCW game by THQ (although likely won't happen for licensing reasons) Banjo Tooie (Really do believe this is only a matter of time due to recent Rare releases) Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (only got released in America so would be great to try that out here in the UK) Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (great game! would love to play it on the go) Star Wars Rogue Squadron (same reason as above, and getting those gold medals are addictive!) Resident Evil 2 (this would be incredible! however unlikely as it would mean the switch service would need a higher age rating. BOO!)

  • Mario Tennis 64 is like the BEST mario tennis versions out there. the physics engine had more orientation based on how the ball was returned. later titles you just had to be near the ball. with MT64 hitting a ball on your right side when right handed after a single bounce was the easiest way to smash the ball without the star. also running forward and hitting the ball would give more nets, you could ONLY use a top spin to run forward and catch a front courtball. so many more nuances to the game where POSITION mattered that later titles covered up with the gimmick gameplay. i sunk so many hours into the game both with the original and the Switch 64 rom. on the original i got all the trophies for all the players, both singles, star cup, and doubles, i forget if there was a doubles star cup but i probably did than one too. after playing Game Cube Tennis and Switch's MT Aces, it took me a while to jog my muscle memory but the rage of "this game is cheating" came back. again you CAN NOT run up to a ball and slice it, you'll almost always get a net, maaybe if you chare up but the charge speeds were slower yet the reward was a faster hit ball. the only few things I like about aces over MT 64 is 1) the graphics and 2) Tricky players have a sharper curve.

    • Golf and Tennis were great on the 64 (or Nintendo 60 based on what Felix kept saying), but they both got huge upgrades on the Cube in every sense of the word. Funnily enough, the Color games are better than the GBA ones

  • Hiding N64 (and Mega drive) games, (many of which I'd already purchased on Wii/U/3DS) behind a paywall really made me shake my fists in dismay and reminded me I had an N64 in storage. It's only cost about £500 in cables, console mods, scalers and cartridges and I can now play 1/3 of these games in their original splendor. False economies aside, there is something about the visual output (with or without disabling the layers of blur) of OG hardware that makes more sense with the graphical makeup, and input response is much better than emulation, though arguably not that useful at sub 20fps...
