In this video, I show 5 different ways you can use your backhand push to beat your opponent. Don't think of a backhand push as a passive shot which just keeps the ball in play. You can use your backhand push in a variety of ways to put your opponent under pressure, play weak shots or make mistakes. The 5 different backhand push tactics I show are...
1. The quick push
2. The long push
3. The short push
4. The sidespin push
5. The hack
Try them all out and see which options work best for you!

My coach used to call "The Hack" as "Slice" because it looks like slicing the top part from a fruit or vegetable. The explanation helped a lot of kids learn this stroke.
its actually called slice in tennis
00:39 Quick push 02:15 Long push 04:04 Short push 06:03 Sidespin push 08:05 The hack Thank you very much, Tom

Excellent instructions on backhand push and its variations.
Great Tips Tom!!! I used It THANKS
Great instruction, thanks Tom
EXCELLENT VIDEO TOM.IT'S HELP MY TRAINING PROGRAM.
Great instructions. Thank You!
The side spin push is my favourite. It's really good for setting up 4th/5th ball attacks and it can be quite deceptive too.
Sorry to be so off topic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@John Jaylen instablaster :)
@Kieran Tripp Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.

its so clear demonstration
Not bad! Looking for forehand push
Please help me with a video on how and when to do long push and short push. What needs to be noticed from the opponent stands/position before deciding between long and short push.
Ur explanation is mind blowing
Thanks!
Hello, I will try to modify tactics for long pimples. Let you know how it went
I like all of your videos
Really good tutorial. Can you make a video on how to do ghost serve , that really good
I like your side spin pushing racket hand follow through
Can't wait to use these!! I started using a long push last week to good effect, now I'm excited to do a proper soft hand short push. Also I want to get some quick pushes in too!
Good luck. Hope some of the methods work for you.
@@TomLodziak They did! I was getting great results with quick pushing my opponent's backspin serve, and soft pushing backspin balls during a rally to change the tempo. I got compliments from everyone saying that I'm really improving! 😁
Thanks
Please make a video about backhand with Paul drink hall!
Hey Tom. Have you considered the (#1) short, slow "NO-SPIN PUSH" (with no wrist) where you simply LIFT the ball over the net with as little backspin as possible, alternating with the (#2) Long, Slow, "LOTS of WRIST-SPIN PUSH"? I find that lower level opponents often expect MORE backspin on the "NO SPIN PUSH" (#1) than it actually has, prompting them to hit a HIGHER return than they anticipated (that you can easily attack with a FLICK), and that lower level opponents often expect LESS backspin on the "LOTS OF WRIST-SPIN PUSH" (#2) prompting them to hit the ball into the net. What do you think?
Love this channel😍
Please make a video about forehand chop
Please talk about how to read no spin serves that look similar to a backspin serve with Craig. I am still struggling with reading no spin serves
Hi
Can you speak with me about table tennies
Hi Tom thank you for the video. How to counter play these pushes ? I used forehand top spin. Most of the time, I hit into the net
You probably need to open your bat angle more and swing up more. Watch this video, it will explain what you need to do...kzhead.info/sun/dpaYidh5oKSfjas/bejne.html
Super
Hi Tom, is it possible to look at the text/graphics of a ball while receiving a serve to read its amount of spin? Maybe it's also a question that would interest Miss Cindy Tiew? :) Oh and THANKS for these videos!
What my coach told me is that if you can see the label, there's not much spin on the ball. So it can be useful for spotting no-spin, but not spin.
hi tom i wanted a dhs hurricane 3 med hard which is using the same cover as hurricane 8 but it is not on bribar could you please fix this as i really wanted this rubber for my backhand
You will need to contact Bribar directly. I don't work for Bribar, so can't influence what they stock.
Hi..I am watching the channel since last few months and I am definitely improving my skills. Push is very good tactic, surely not defensive. My Only suggestion is try to put some more slow motion videos so that the technique is understood well. Rets doing great job...
Why don't we see backhand push in elite level often but forehand only?
Can u make a vid on how to smash high spin balls on the table
Smashing high balls on the backhand side would also be great!
Here's a video on the forehand smash... kzhead.info/sun/lrKRYclwenmDmqM/bejne.html
How to deal with HACK shot which has very heavy backspin
i need a short pips guide
Do pushes work on top spin serves/returns?
it will launch the ball up, or it will skid on top of your racket then will go past you, it would heavily depend how hard the ball is spinning.
@@DearHRS So pushes are not ideal against top spin?
@@lam-angwren2129 yup, you should not keep your racket at shallow angles when dealing with top spins, it is possible to push it but racket would need to be more flat, or racket would need alot more speed to cancel out the momentum of ball and send it back. It mostly depends how fast ball would be spinning though.
You would also need a good racket, as mine is bit old and "bald", it doesn't have that much grip on the ball.
Sid Piolo sadas To be honest, if you’re a chopper, top spin serves don’t really matter as how much top spin the ball comes to you, is how much back spin the ball comes back to opponent’s side. If you’re an offensive player without pips, pushing back a serve with top spin is actually possible but not really effective
How can I pick up fast smash..
Get far from the table and lob, if the smash is weak, you can attack the ball
The key point would be proper weight transfer from the ground. On a side note, if you can accurately predict where the ball will go, your smash/topspin can be even faster if you hit the ball immediately after it bounces on the table. It's a risky shot, but it can sometimes be worth it. Hugo Calderano and Koki Niwa often do this when the opportunity presents itself.
👍👍👍
Eyes: You can do this Hands: No you can’t
I’m watching this just to compete in my schools city championships
👍👍👉
In brazilian portuguese it's called "cozinhada", hahaha...
“Cozinhar” ou “cortar” por parecer um churrasco grego. Mas eu entendi mesmo o kato quando descobri o nome em inglês: pushing haha, faz sentido o movimento de empurrar
Which pimple rubber have this effect
What do you do when your opponent has 6 backhand push shots?
The number 3 is a drop shot not a push
It's part of the same technique family.
chop block
We need translation anto Arabic please
just hack the heck out of it
merci
