  • How long do ye usually wait per set up for coyotes? I hear some say that they only stay 15-25 min. before they try a new location & some say that they wait sometimes more than an hour, I know it depends on the population numbers & area but just wondering? & what would you say the advantage rate of heavier camo concealment's vs something like ordinary real tree camo for example?

  • The cameras you use look just super expensive, but the reward is in the footage you get. Very nice HD shooting. A couple friends and myself are about to get into coyote hunting. All I have is a Sony Handi-Cam. Once we get a feel for the hunt I plan to do some filming. We may scratch out some low quality hunts to post. Thanks for the great vids!

    • Get a .223 cheeper ammo cost equal hitting power.

      @D250Rocks@D250Rocks10 жыл бұрын
    • D250Rocks Can I ask where you learned about ballistics and how to comprehend energy in ft/lbs? A 22-250 is much superior for coyotes than your standard 223, trust me, I've killed literally hundreds with the 250, it's able to send a larger round with a faster velocity, delivering more energy with a higher bc than your 223. For example the 22-250 can deliver almost 100 more ft/lbs of energy at 100yds further down range (223 @ 200yds 650ft/lbs, 22-250 @ 300yds 625 ft/lbs) you many not think much of it, but us seasoned coyote hunters do, with a 100lbs more energy being delivered hydrostatic shock is your friend... regarding cost, we reload, cost of our custom handloads compared to your over the counter 223's is not comparable... if you want to stuff 30 rounds into a mag and rip it up, go with your 223, if you want a cartridge DESIGNED for our application, that has one of the most inherently accurate characteristics, build yourself a LongRifles, Inc. Coyote Rifle.

      @ONEILLOPS@ONEILLOPS10 жыл бұрын
    • ONEILLOPS Definitely true, BUT, the 223 is a cheaper and more cost effective round. You need to remember that not everyone reloads. The 22-250 definitely has the advantage at range but he may not need that extra range. I've killed many coyotes with both rounds but I know if I'm pushing past 300 yards the 22-250 is my go-to, but closer and 223 could fit the bill perfectly. It is all personal preference. My two sense is get yourself a nice pair of binos, a rangefinder, a call, and a rifle with a good set of optics. I have been spoiled with US Optics, Nightforce, Swarovski, Schmidt and Bender and a few other great pieces of glass and that is one of the most important things. If you are not in the financial situation that you can afford these, go with something like a leupold or a vortex at the higher end. I hope this could help and just ask if you have any other questions. (Oh and these guys at O'Niell Ops definitely know what they are talking about… Look at all of these dogs they are killing :0)

      @cptbosko911@cptbosko91110 жыл бұрын
    • cptbosko911 You're 100% correct in saying the 223 is cheaper if you don't reload... Carry on.

    @rodmesser2618@rodmesser26189 жыл бұрын
    • Great question Rod! Most guys realize you don't need the gear we run to hunt... I've been there, done that. When I was young, I modded my gear to essentially "customize" it to my needs, and wants in the field. Filming, for 5 months out of the year 5-7 days a week, it pays to have hi end gear, plain and simple... Over the past years that I have learned to edit our footage, has opened doors for us, regarding equipment companies that are willing and interested in working with us, so I can save time "modding" my equipment, and run gear that is superior to anything I could ever make. Regarding advantages... I could type forever, but I'll name a few. 1. LongRifles, Inc. custom rifles, a weapon that holds .25"MOA with handloads over 1" MOA with factory, gives me a 3" advantage @ 400yds, add wind, snow, my error, and that 3" can turn into 6" real quick, not to mention the weapon is built around me, not me around it, having the added mindset and comfort that you have a custom superior weapon system doesn't hurt... You may not see those shots on film but we routinely make them, and it's a necessary shot when you are helping Ranchers during calving. 2. Camo/Ghillies we have been using our entire lives, to us it's no different on film, but those who see it, don't understand, the concept... In our wide open areas with minimal to no cover it's a huge advantage. 3. Optics, as stated above, in our wide open areas, superior glass, makes hours a day much easier on the eyes. 4. Packs etc. without the internal weapon scabbard we would not be able to carry all our kit the distances we do. 5. Suppressors, well... If you haven't hunted exclusively with one, for years, it's hard to understand... there are too many advantages to go into detail on. 6. Camera/Fluid heads/Tripods, sure an HD Handycam will do the trick, we've done it, heck we even made a DVD that was filmed with one on top of a ball head tripod, it can be done... BUT the quality is NOT on the same level as the footage we pull with what we are running now. If you have any ?'s fell free to ask away, we always like to help guys out with "why" we run what we do.

      @ONEILLOPS@ONEILLOPS9 жыл бұрын
    • ONEILLOPS Good to hear all that gear is being used to its potential. I certainly understand what the gear (along with a quality marksman) is capable of and wondered if you guys did ADC work. It may not be as visually striking but I hope you guys put together some videos showing some loooong pokes or multiple dog harvests on the same set. A few hand blown call vids would be nice too. Thanks

  • that ridgeline shot has earned you a thumbs down. No shot is worth that kind of gamble. and now I think about it if you are willing to take shots like that simply for a kill on the camera you have also lost a subscriber. you could have woofed that yote along the lochside for a much safer shot from the way we see it.

    @johnmventers398@johnmventers3986 жыл бұрын
    • We came from the same direction as the shot was taken, we own the land 5 miles behind the ridge line, if i didn't know what was beyond the shot, I would not have allowed it. This isn't a public hunting area, this is a large lot of private ground, our ground. I can understand your concern, and would address agreement, IF it was in a location we didn't own, operate or were familiar with.

      @ONEILLOPS@ONEILLOPS6 жыл бұрын
    • that is a fair response. however, even with these considerations, it is not a shot I would have taken just on the off chance. even though you own the land I'm sure you'd not want to hurt someone who was meant to be there or not. I will revoke my unsubscription but still thumb down the video as safe or not I feel it damaging on the whole to shooters. some less sympathetic to the cause may take less time to consider it and go off shouting how shooters take dangerous shots. best not to add fuel to the fire I'd say. perhaps put in an info tile at the beginning of the video informing people that you own the land and that the shot is safe. we are all ambassadors of the sport and is our responsibility to positively represent our passion in every decision we make. thank you for the responce.

      @johnmventers398@johnmventers3986 жыл бұрын
    • I don't have to post video's like this, but it engages opposition. I don't look at it like adding fuel to the fire. Look at how it excited you, it was a good argument on your part, and a legit concern, until you knew the facts. I've made skyline shots before, but before you do it, you better damn well know the rules, what your target is and what is beyond your target, in all of the instances that I determine taking a skyline shot these rules are 100% applied and followed. Thanks again.
