    • His style of singing sounds like a derivative of Nigerian Fuji and Apala singing. Also genres full of men singing in falsetto, its a very unique style of singing and apart from afrobeats (who most likely were inspired by), I have heard nothing even vaguely similar.

      @theoriginalduotribal@theoriginalduotribal Жыл бұрын
    • @@theoriginalduotribal you have an interesting take. I often listen to Qdot and I went back and listened to “Apala New Skool” and some old Apala songs. It’s basic pattern is a back and forth between a lead vocal(ist) and his “follower” responding in harmony. For every bar of lyrics, it starts with the vocalist and then a retort by the followers in unison. I didn’t notice a falsetto per say; maybe a few Apala singers sing that harmonic retort in a lower voice register, but not to the level of a falsetto. Maybe the frequency of the back and forth between the harmonic chorus (Kulosa) and Oxlade singing reminds you of Apala. In general, call-response pattern of singing is found across many sub-Saharan cultures, but Apala is quite interesting because the entire songs seem to be just call-response from the beginning to the end. Can you drop examples of Apala I can checkout?

    • @@Davoyet the question was for *R Cook who was actively mocking his skills in english like he HAS to speak perfect english or something. Before he critisize other people for not speaking the colonizer's language, he or she, should MASTER yoruba and other local nigerian languages and different patois. Then they can talk all that stupidness. And if it is a nigerian capable of mocking their brother for not being as fluent in a white man's language, then i cant do anything for their self hating buttock. They are too far gone in self racism and ignorance.
