I say this over and over because people who say shit like this obviously know nothing about music: AUTOTUNE DOESNT NOT MAKE YOU AUTOMATICALLY SING. IF YOU SOUND BAD WITHOUT IT, YOU WILL SOUND JUST AS BAD WITH IT. It’s not some type of musical cheat code 💀 That’s the huge misconception people have about autotune. It’s pitch correction, it’s not gonna completely alter your voice. If you’re not in key it literally does nothing for you lol.

There's something gritty about songs that are sung without autotune that make the song that much better. This grittiness is what adds impact. I come from an orchestral background which oftentimes requires a delicate touch. This grittiness is absolutely an essential aspects of a song. Even some orchestral pieces add in rougher play to add emphasis. Autotune removes nearly all of that. Sure the notes are correct but the musicality of it seems to be missing somehow. There are certainly ways around this, but it seems that in a typical situation autotune removes much of the aspects of music that make it appreciable.

Same lmao i’ve been coming here every once in a while since the video was uploaded
SAAAAAAAAME
I've been to a concert of his twice, both times were absolutely phenomenal, he's an amazing vocalist and the band are always a treasure to listen to
I love it when musicians do this unexpectedly! that's what's so beautiful about music, it brings people together.
This guy’s voice is more consistent than anything I’ve ever heard
It's more consistent than anything in my intire life xD
@@paulhenkel7629 Far more consistent than your spelling
@Alaskan Space Program I'm not going to say it, I want you to figure it out on your own

@Alaskan Space Program That wouldn't make sense if it was "you are spelling".
Hozier sounds absolutely fantastic, but lemme take a minute to give the backing singers some love!! They took it to a whole new level, absolutely smashed it.
Exactly! I was about to say that, they elevated the performance!
Suzanne Santo! She’s amazing live, she opened for Hozier on his tour last year
Lol my names kiran too
I was way more impressed by the backup. I kept trying to figure out if it was a track or live because they were unreal
Kiran Kaur 100%
He is so amazing! He is one of those pure, genuine voices that doesn't need autotune. ❤
BRO THE GUY WHO TURNED THE KEYBOARD VOLUME DOWN... KINGGGG he has Hozier's back man... the piano completely overpowered vocals until he quickly noticed. great teamwork
Welcome to another episode of: "I haven't searched this up but i'm watching it anyway"

Because it was recommended
On god 😂😂
The backing singers don’t get enough credit! They were incredible!! Perfectly complemented his heavenly voice damn
this comment is underrated! it needs way more likes so people can notice this!
Soo true glad somebody else cares
Hehe *heavenly* voice hehe
Right!!
It is Hard to get credist for singing when hozier is here
When it gets to no masters or kings part...chills cause the harmony is intense. Love it
Gives you the chills...such a talent
God: how tall do you wanna be? Hozier: yes
RoyaLP not funny didn’t laugh
M_xj7 you’re comment had me laughing so hard 😂😂😂😂😂😂
RoyaLP I love how the only 2 comments are the complete opposites!
LPS GiGi Productions i really couldn’t stop laughing when i saw M_xj7’s comment 😭
Anxiety Attack hahahahahahahahahahaha
Damn he's definitely the real deal, sounds exactly like his song, with no auto-tune or anything
I dont get why ppl gotta hate on autotune.. it’s obviously not meant for genre’s like this.. more for pop/hip hop/dance music..
@@champagnepogi yeah I get what your saying, it's not necessarily a bad thing but he just has raw pure talent
Chris Chua because who in the world looks in a mirror and goes “you know, I can’t sing at all. Maybe I should do it anyways but at a professional level”
Do you even know what autotune is? You can clearly hear that there is no autotune in his song to begin with
His voice is heavenly 😭❤️✨
goosebumps. perfect storm of true talent and practice
Autotune: exists Hozier: I’m about to end this man’s whole career.
This is the problem with today’s music they use heavy auto tune and just ruin the song
Eh
It is hozier himself...
Copied comment gg
There's something gritty about songs that are sung without autotune that make the song that much better. This grittiness is what adds impact. I come from an orchestral background which oftentimes requires a delicate touch. This grittiness is absolutely an essential aspects of a song. Even some orchestral pieces add in rougher play to add emphasis. Autotune removes nearly all of that. Sure the notes are correct but the musicality of it seems to be missing somehow. There are certainly ways around this, but it seems that in a typical situation autotune removes much of the aspects of music that make it appreciable.
I love this. Filmed vertically because Hozier is 7'7" feet tall. Fight me if you think I'm lying.
Fam are you speaking facts or nah?
😂😂😂
Joseph Burton kind of he’s 6’ 5”
@@josephburton2721 he's the jesus himself yes he is 7 feet tall
Tabitha S. Best comment so far lmfaloooo
This song just hits with impact even now, if I heard this for the first time I'm sure I'd still recognise its different from any other songs
I always find their voices, pure and true whilst accapella. Not perfect, but raw. Love it
Imagine how lucky the people who passed by were to get a free little show
I got to see it from my house without having to go to the subway
Eek shit even crazier than this happens everyday in the subway
I would definitely stopped. I got to see amazing subway performance once. But the dude only performed that one time... It was awesome.
More than half the people passing would just see a busker. I wouldn't know this man even if he introduced himself.

Count in Brendon Urie too
Really wish he had a microphone. His voice is gorgeous but so are the words and meaning of the song. It’s a poem. So inspiring.
Oh, plenty folks missed their trains listening to that awesome man's awesome voice!! Whoo!! Thank you!! Amen, and much Love from Scotland ❤ X ...
this is the only video that i don’t mind was filmed vertically.
Had to. He's too tall for horizontal.
It was filimes vertically because back then IGTV only allowed it to be
Lewis Capaldi’s vertical of Someone you loved is allowed as well. If you haven’t checked it out, you’re missing out lol
Hanne E link?
Terabyter117 just look up “Lewis Capaldi - someone you loved (vertical)”
I wish I could listen to this song for the first time again.
i am 😍 his voice is good to hear
Still remember exactly where I was the first time I ever heard this. I'm a musician and a lover of all sorts of music but this is the only song I can say that about.
I was just thinking the same!!!! And then saw your comment 😆 great minds think alike
Right? Chills.
Song or this performance? Because listening to song over and makes it even better . Or even listening it after years brings back memories. But first time we don't feel anything much
Powerful. This is how ALL talent used to be like. Star power wasn't always #1... it was their talent. If you sound great live... you are the real deal.
I am just obsessed with this song it gives me goosebumps❤❤❤
KZhead: you’ve watched this six times Me: ……… KZhead: wanna watch it again Me: hell yeah
Jack yep same here...
Jack same
x3
Sincerely from another jack I have never felt such a strong connection
Lol same here too
Bruh this hits way different than the normal version
fr tho
Saw him live at Austin City limits only knowing this radio hit. His voice is captivating to say the least. Also he performed after Vance Joy. He crushed Vance in a live performance.
Facts they need to add this to Apple Music
Specially if your right there too
The Glee version I also find better than the original
I love this performance so much
Absolutely beautiful 😢 Goosebumps immediately ❤

Can't like this enough. my words fall like dust on the shadow of this altar. Chills, amazement, engagement - all those things that real art just "does"

hydrated pelican it doesn’t matter when it was uploaded. KZhead will recommend the video whenever KZhead feels like it.
HAHAHA ik this has nothing to do with the comment but under the video KZhead gave me an ad that says “Jesus Christ loves you” 😂💀💀 I can’t

I love artists that I admire and love more for their person than for their already great music. Hozier is fantastic.
But are we going to ignore these harmonies in the background🥴 They killed it, awesome performance
He actually sounds hella nervous the accompaniment is awesome
Can't ignore them, it's crazy good!! They really made the performance, but let's be honest, the whole thing was fantastic. Only wish I was there for such a "pop-up"... NYC is blessed with free entertainment on all levels. It's beautiful.
Right!
@First Last it's just an observation. Didn't say he sounds bad.. just nerveous
No one is ignoring them. Pretty fucking obvious tbh.
This video just called me a horrible singer in 47 languages and 23 fonts
Lol i was already a horrible one
😂😂😂😂😂
I thought I had some small piece of talent but he blew it out of the water. They way he was able to sing was beautiful. I’m not tryna be a professional but I rlly wanna get a lil decent to impress friends... ladies...
This makes me want to go back to finding new talent and reminds me how rewarding it was. I’ll give away my age if I talk about the singers and bands I was involved with. 😂
I’m dead💀😂
Truly amazing. Stunning talent. Love NYC.
Amazing! Complete love and respect!
