SOUTH ISLAND DIARIES 8!
I head to the South Island once more to explore new water, revisit some favourites and catch up with some of my favourite people!! In this first episode, I drive South and stop off on the way to fish a little stream that can produce the goods. Then jump on the boat and kick off the trip with a new river and some terrible weather!!!
Stay tuned for some of the best trout fishing in the world!

  • Alex, as always in awe here, of the places and life you get to see and feel in those wild places. That's before you even wet a line. I imagine that many of our waters in Scotland were something like that, before the deforestation, grazing and industrialisation took over. The weather definitely compares! Another Fly fishing masterclass buddy, with outstanding empathy for the beautiful places we are still lucky enough to travel through, thanks for that. Mike. 🎣

  • Great videos, just stumbled across the channel and really like your approach. Curious why you tap the rod just above the handle before a roll cast? Is that to help take slack out of the line between the guides? Also, is there a function to the buff/bandana on your casting wrist beyond having it at the ready? Seems like it would always be wet or damp if you had to throw it on to combat sun/insects. Heading to NZ in a few months and wondering if it's worth adding to the packing list.

    @patmech290@patmech2909 ай бұрын
    • Welcome to the team bro ! I’m tapping the fly off the guides so it drops into the water and I can start fishing quickly.😉 As for the buff, def bring a few with you - they are essential bits of kit here. I just like to keep the buff on my wrist….it’s my ‘thing’ I guess🤷‍♂️
