No play calls, no stat milestones or firsts, No Cup lifting, no trophy winning, no Team Canada or World Cup footage, no medals, no All-Star footage, no family at the arenas, no photos of him and Gretzky, no charity events. So yes, to label this Byfuglien's career highlights is incorrect. This is a hits highlights.

  • Buff made Chris Pronger look ineffective in that '09-10 Finals and that's no easy feat for someone drafted in the eighth round. Buff wasn't even supposed to make the big time.

    • Still blows my mind that Chicago used him as a forward. I read an article on his offensive ability and he said he spent a lot of time stick handling, edge work and shooting. When asked why as a defensemen he replied "I hit people a lot and it gives me time with the puck i wouldn't normally have, I had no choice but to get good at it. "

  • I always respected him after watching him during that 2010 run with Chicago. He was among the most dominant players in the league when he was in his prime and that physicality he brings has always stood out to me.

  • I will miss watching him in a jets uniform, love him or hate him he was an absolute unit when it came to physical presence on the ice, the fact that he could demolish people with his hits and still be a pretty clean player is just insane, he's one of a kind and his play will never be fully replicated. I knew this moment was coming but I just held onto that little bit of hope that we'd see him lace up with the jets a little while longer, but this is just the way things gotta be. I will always miss his crazy antics with the jets.

  • Saw him play live in Ottawa, for the Jets, many years ago while at a youth tournament with my son's team. Every time he stepped on the ice, he was by far the best player - it wasn't even close. The thing I remember most about him was he never, ever looked down, ever, while skating with the puck, his head was up, on a swivel, just looking for the best play. He was the best player on the ice at 10 years old in the most elite kids' tournament (The Brick) and he was almost always the best player on the ice in the NHL. A true legend.

    • @@darrellmackinnon1667 He's done, man. He put in 0 effort to skate or stay in shape all offseason. Didn't say anything about a foot injury until the next season started. Once he finally had his operation he was supposed to get back on the ice and begin rehabbing it, which he never did. If you look up photos of him he looks like he's probably up to 320 pounds. His heads not in it.

In reality even if he retires he could officially return but dont forget, he's walking away from +14$ million so prob a slim chance of that.

    • Jason Dashney LA, Buffalo, Columbus, New Jersey and Ottawa can afford him but they're not contenders, he'll likely sign a short term contract, maybe 3 years possibly 4 and will want to win a Cup. Boston and Colorado are strong teams with some money to spend on an upgrade and Buff would make them better. Montreal and Florida have some cap space but probably not enough.

    • @@ll7868 Colorado isn't gonna sign any big name guys for any big contracts for long term. They got a lot of raises to deal out in the future, Burakovsky, Makar, Landeskog will need a new contract soon. They've structured their cap so they'll be able to keep their core long term
