TikTok has taken over the internet this year and I love seeing what kind of medical stuff there is out there. Today I react to a whole bunch of TikToks that really set me off, from jarring cupping therapy, to using pam as tanning lotion (Don’t!), to using a hydraulic press on COVID-19 and even making babies think they’re falling. Got some medical TikToks you want me to react to? Send them my way and I’ll look at them in my next TikTok review video.
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

  • Interesting fact about the Moro reflex: They tried that experiment with lots of different species with mostly the same results; infants would instinctively know to avoid the drop. The only species that consistently failed the test? Turtles! They would see the reflective surface of the glass, think it was water, and try to dive in!

Blood backs up in the veins, building up pressure. If not treated, increased pressure and excess fluid in the affected area can cause an open sore to form and can take up to 2 years to heal and you need to decapitate your leg before it spreads an infection if not you can die in 15 minutes.

  • I had small patches of necrotic tissue following a pilonidal cyst removal (the worst my surgeon had seen in his entire 30 years of being a surgeon) and a wound care nurse used a Bovie tool (or a similar cauterizing tool) to remove the necrotic tissue while I was awake with absolutely no painkiller or anesthetic or anything. They did this on several occasions and I began to dread going in for my wound care appointments. Horrible experience, incredibly painful but it worked and everything healed up fine.

  • The dream part reminded me of something. About 6 years ago I was having symptoms where I was trying to keep myself from passing out. That was the best way I could describe it. After several tests I was diagnosed with PVCs, premature ventricular contractions, which is the heart beating before it's supposed to. My cardiologist put me on medications that took care of it. Then, a few years ago, I had a dream in which I passed out, and then came to. That made me wonder, can a person can actually pass out while they're sleeping?

But yeah I'd personally say a large part of cupping is placebo, I use it for my clients whose muscles are tougher to release (I'm a licensed and certified massage therapist/orthopedic massage therapist) as helping release any fascia in the area also helps with muscle mobility, or at least that has been my experience and what I believe it is doing.

    • @@avanipanji I've tried for years literally, but no one is yet to take me seriously. I started using hard drugs because it became extremely painful, so now every doctor brushes it off, saying it's because of the life I started living when getting really addicted. They never have a good answer when I tell them that pain came way before drugs and that it can't be the (only) reason. I'm sure my habits and homelessness made it even worse, but I've been off hard drugs for over a year and nothing has gotten better. So it just sucks. I still mention it any time I see my doctor which is fairly often so that maybe one day he'll bother taking it a bit more seriously. I don't wanna switch doctor either because it took me a long time finding the doctor that I have now that is used to drug addicts. He's also the one that have truly helped me with both my PTSD, anxiety, depression and addictions in a very fair way, and those doctors are at least in my area nearly impossible to find. The pain part is the only thing that bothers me with him. So it's a sticky situation. I just hope that he'll have another go at it one day, as long as I keep reminding him. I simply cannot afford switching doctor, because he's been amazing with actually helping me with many other problems. In part, he's saved my life. It's extremely hard to deal with these pains, but it will be much harder for me if I were to lose the help I'm getting with all my other health problems.

  • Cupping can also be done using a suction gun and how your meant to remove them even though the method in the video works is by pulling the pins at the top which release the air through a gap . Also the heating method works when the heated air expands and when put onto your skin quick enough the air as it cools shrinks and creates suction. Hope this helped.

She used to love that thing. Even now she still likes to test how far she can leap if she runs back and hurtles over the edge as fast as she can go. Thinking English bull terriers are a bit wonky like that, though, from the amount of other ones I've seen doing that kind of stuff.

  • To be honest, with the online thing. I had a problem with my wrist. I couldn't move it, it hurt like hell and my thumb was literally telling me: if you raise me I will kill you. I went to my doctor who had no idea what it was and kept giving me different treatments from splint to acupuncture. Nothing helped. I consistently kept telling him, that I really think it is De Quervain's tendonitis because in my plight I kept looking up things online. He got so mad at me for checking out the internet. In the end after 6 months of this he finally caved in and sent me to a specialist. I had to wait another 2 months for that appointment. There I was greeted with: Ah yeah, De Quervains, too bad you didn't come sooner, we could have treated it with steroid injections, now you have to have it operated. So...I do agree that the internet can totally freak the people out and might not be right in a lot of cases but doctors should not disregard patients ability to try and find their own symptoms either. It would have saved me 5 sutures and months of pain. In the end I still cannot raise my thumb like I used to and my wrist is not 100% mobile and it has been six years. Go figure.

  • Walmart used some cool ring shaped band-aids (like a pad around the edge instead of in the center) for immunizations. They did give the shot through the band-aid, but that makes more sense than through a shirt. And they're see-through plastic, so they could see the injection site.
