The psalm, along with the akathist, the paraklesis, and some hymns, is among the most popular liturgical chants. The psalms are found in the Holy Services: the Divine Liturgy, Vespers and Matins, as well as in morning and evening prayers, known to every Christian. The psalms can also be read directly from the Psalter, grouped into kathismata.

At the same time, it serves as a beneficial treatment and healing therapy for individuals suffering from mental and spiritual illnesses, phobias, panic, and fear.
